‘Jaat': One Indian Film Ranks On Netflix Global Top 10 This Week
Indian star Sunny Deol headlines the Hindi film 'Jaat'.
Sunny Deol's action-drama Jaat is the only Indian content to feature among the most-watched non-English films and shows on Netflix for the week ending June 15. Jaat slid one position down to rank at the fifth slot in its second week on the platform.
Directed by Telugu filmmaker Gopichand Malineni, Jaat secured a spot on Netflix's weekly list of most-watched non-English films for the second consecutive week. Despite the release of the new India original, Rana Naidu season 2, no other Indian films or shows featured on the weekly global list.
Gopichand Malineni's Jaat recorded 3.8 million views and 9.5 million watch-hours on Netflix in its second week on the platform. Jaat was also the most-watched film on Netflix this week in four countries including India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Malayasia. It also ranked among top ten most-watched films in 23 countries across the globe.
Months after its theatrical release, Jaat landed online on June 5 and became the most-watched film in seven countries including India, Bahrain, Mauritius, Maldives, Pakistan Oman, and UAE. It also ranked among the top ten in 17 countries.
Malineni makes his Bollywood debut with Jaat which revolves around an eccentric, brave Indian man (Deol as Jaat) and his chance encounter with an immigrant from Sri Lanka (Randeep Hooda). Corrupt politicians along with immoral cops paint the perfect backdrop of an unjust society while ruthless women complete the action-filled world of populist cinema based in Jaat which uses the milleu of the hinterlands of India. Vineet Kumar Singh (Mukkabaaz, Chhaava) stars in an important role in the film which also features Makarand Deshpande, Saiyyami Kher, Regina Cassandra, and Zarina Wahab.
The second season of Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh Daggubati's Rana Naidu released on Netflix on June 13. While it did not make it to the global list, it was the most-watched show for the week on the platform in India. It also ranked among the top ten most-watched shows in nine countries across the world. The first season of the show also made it to the latest weekly list and secured the fifth spot.
Created by Karan Anshuman, Rana Naidu was a surprise success nationwide when it first premiered on Netflix in 2023. The classy fixer is back with the second season of the show. Anshuman also directed the show with Suparn S Varma and Abhay Chopra. The show is produced by Sunder Aaron and Locomotive Global. It features Rana Daggubati, Venkatesh Daggubati, Gaurav Choprra, Arjun Rampal, Surveen Chawla, Kriti Kharbanda, Sushant Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, and Dino Morea.
After remaining on the Netflix global list of most-watched non-English shows for four weeks in a row, The Royals slid down from the global list in its fifth week but has maintained a spot on India's most-watched shows on Netflix for the past two weeks. In its fifth week, it was the second most-watched show in India. The show, headlined by Ishaan Khatter and Bhumi Pednekar, slid down to the fourth spot in the sixth week.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Get 400% Pay Increase in Season 2
America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders is officially back on Netflix for season 2, and we have one question: is the team finally making a livable wage? Answer: Yes! And it was extremely hard won. Amid the DCC's low wages being exposed last season, the team entered this season and attempted to negotiate their contract together—an effort that was spearheaded by Jada, Amanda, Armani, Kleine, Marissa, and Megan. Unfortunately, the meeting (which wasn't on camera) with execs didn't go well. The team even briefly considered a walk-out, but their plans were leaked and they were unable to negotiate more money for the 2024 season. However, Season 2 ended with some good news: Kelli told the dancers (specifically Jada, Armani, and Megan) that everyone was getting raises. Specifically, 400% percent raises. As Armani (who was retiring that year) put it, "I love the fact that I made change for the girls that are coming up behind me, even if I'm not getting a chance to benefit. As a reminder: last season, former cheerleader Kat revealed that DCC paid her the same amount as a full-time Chick-fil-A worker (around $37,947). Viewers were obviously shocked, especially when Dallas Cowboys owner and Chief Brand Officer, Charlotte Jones, straight up said "There's a lot of cynicism around pay for NFL cheerleaders—and as it should be. They're not paid a lot. But the facts are is that they actually don't come here for the money. They come here for something that's actually bigger than that to them. They have a passion for dance." Assuming that aforementioned $37,949 is accurate, the team is now making somewhere around $151,000 with a 400% raise. Glad the DCC dancers are finally being paid a salary commensurate to their talent!

Netflix will air traditional TV channels inside its app in France
Starting in summer 2026, Netflix subscribers in France will be able to watch commercially broadcast TV content 'without ever having to leave the service.' The streaming giant has announced a distribution deal with French media company TF1 Group to make TF1's free-to-air live TV channels and on-demand TF1 Plus streaming content available to French Netflix users as part of their existing subscription plan. 'This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience,' Netflix CEO Greg Peters said in a statement. 'By teaming up with France's leading broadcaster we will provide French consumers with even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and to stay with us for all their entertainment.' The carriage deal will enable French Netflix subscribers to watch major live sports matches, scripted dramas like Broceliande and Erica, soap operas such as Demain nous appartient, and unscripted shows like The Voice. Financial details were not disclosed, but for Netflix, this deal may also contribute towards a legal requirement to invest a portion of its French revenue into French-language content. Netflix started experimenting with a linear-style TV feature in France in 2020 called 'Direct' that broadcast a programmed schedule of shows, but the TF1 partnership is the first deal to host channels from a third-party network. The partnership could be compared to Netflix being granted the output for CBS in the US, or ITV in the UK. It's significant because the TF1 network holds around 24 percent of the French linear TV market — higher than the domestic US market share for NBC, CBS, ABC, or Fox. As more consumers switch from traditional TV to streaming on-demand content, the Netflix TF1 partnership could pave the way for similar deals to help struggling networks bolster their audiences by piggybacking off the very streaming services that viewers are jumping to. In the announcement, TF1 Group CEO Rodolphe Belmer said, 'as viewing habits shift toward on-demand consumption and audience fragmentation increases, this unprecedented alliance will enable our premium content to reach unparalleled audiences and unlock new reach for advertisers within an ecosystem that perfectly complements our TF1 Plus platform.'
