‘It improved my batting multiple folds': Sai Sudharsan on how his county cricket stint will help in upcoming England series
Batter Sai Sudharsan scored a well-paced 80 against the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League Eliminator on Friday but that wasn't enough for the Gujarat Titans as they fell to the 5-time champions by 20 runs. Now, the batter, who scored 759 runs in this season of the IPL, will shift his focus to the upcoming England test series. 'I think I have played seven games in county cricket, so it gave me a great experience to be honest, it improved my batting multiple folds in terms of technique and in terms of basics to, it told me basics is the most important thing in batting,' Sudharsan said after the match. 'So, I think it should help me and I will focus more on what I learnt and I will try and be aware and create those awareness before going into the series,' he added. The left-hander, who played for Surrey over the past couple of seasons, was expected to play the second India A versus England clash in Northampton from June 6 but is not sure if that is a possibility. The Test squad will leave for the United Kingdom on June 6. He admitted that it would be tough to park the white ball habits right away but with the first Test scheduled for June 20, he has enough time to prepare for the English summer. ' Definitely, after a long three months of white-ball tournament, certain things would have changed in your batting. I think focusing more on basics and bringing back those to red ball cricket will take some time, we will have some good time before the series starts.' 'In our mind, we were planning only to leave on the 4th from IPL, so we were not thinking about when to leave for India A or the Test team, but if that was the plan the Test team would have left on 6th, but now we will have to have a conversation and see how it goes,' said the classy opener. Forgotten India Star Slams Stunning Double Hundred In England, Sends Big Message To BCCI
Karun Nair 's redemption arc in England began with a rollicking double century for India A against the Lions on Day 2 of the first unofficial Test in Canterbury on Saturday. With the sun shining over Canterbury, the forgotten India star stepped on the crease with an ambition of continuing to thrive with his formula of success and making England Lions toil hard for wickets. He pulled the curtains down on the opening day with an unbeaten 186 and slowly found his rhythm after sprinting for a couple of singles. Nair's resolve to maintain his defensive stance and leave the deliverers travelling in the corridor of uncertainty continued as England Lions hunted for wickets with its unbridled pace attack. The 33-year-old had to wait till the final over of the 101st over to get his hands on the elusive landmark. Eddie Jack went wayward in line and length, allowing Nair to exploit the gap. He sent the ball racing towards the boundary rope for a four and brought up a sizzling double ton. Nair soaked in the sound of applause that echoed in the stadium and kissed his helmet to allow the landmark moment to sink in. "Dear cricket, give me one more chance" was what Nair wished in December 2022. Since then, he has latched onto every opportunity to make a strong case for earning a spot in India's XI for the five high-stakes Tests against England, scheduled to kick off on June 20. Throughout his stay on the crease, Nair remained unfazed by his underwhelming run in the IPL and the events that took place at the other end. Dhruv Jurel kicked off the day with an air of positivity and picked up a boundary to mark the resumption of his swift blitzkrieg. However, he fell six runs shy of a deserved hundred. Ajeet Dale deceived Jurel to end his swashbuckling exploits on 94(120). Nitish Kumar Reddy showed intent but could survive for 22 deliveries after depositing the ball into the gloves of England Lions captain James Rew. Shardul Thakur went berserk in his limited stay and reeled off a couple of boundaries to race to 18 from 13 deliveries before Nair holed it to Rew off Zaman Akhter and returned with 204(281).
