Vileda Rinse Clean Spin Mop and Bucket System

The Vileda mop was expensive
Credit: Oliver Dixon
I loved this spin mop and bucket but I thought it was quite expensive at nearly £50.
The Aldi one does basically the same job - but for £35 less.
It works in the same way with two buckets to separate the clean and dirty water.
The microfibre mop head was great at clearing tough dirt and grime and seemed durable.
It was triangular in shape which was good for getting right into corners.
The best thing was the foot-pedal operated winger which allows you to control the dampness of the mop head.

Mrs Hinch loves it but it's the most toxic cleaning product ever… I've seen it do so much damage & I'm a pro cleaner
Minky 4-in-1 Action Spray Mop

No bucket needed for this Minky spray mop
Credit: Oliver Dixon
No need to waste time filling a bucket with this spray mop.
Simply fill the bottle with your cleaning solution, spray the floor and wipe away.
The triple action pads were super effective and left my floor gleaming.
The non-scratch heads were great at getting rid of stubborn dirt and it easily reached under furniture and around skirting boards.
The only issue is I found the spray bottle leaked a little bit of solution and it's a shame it doesn't come with replacement mop heads, which would boost its value rating.

Flash Speed Mop Starter Kit

The Flash mop is a good budget option
Credit: Oliver Dixon
If you need a fuss-free, budget-friendly option, it is worth considering this Flash mop.
It doesn't feel the sturdiest. The handle is quite thin and you can't adjust it.
But the head does pivot into tight corners and the cloths were fantastic and picking up and trapping dirt. The cloths were easy to fit and remove.
It did a good job of cleaning tiles and glided beautifully around a wood laminate floor, providing a very happy and productive cleaning session.
No fancy bells and whistles but it got the job done.

Aldi Easy Home Spin Mop

Aldi offered a good budget option
Credit: Oliver Dixon
What impressed me most about Aldi's wallet-friendly option was this mop's incredible ability to clean right into tight corners and under furniture.
The two separate buckets mean you can separate dirty water from clean and it is suitable for all hard floors.
The downside is the bucket is quite large, so it's not the easiest to store if you are tight on space.
But for less than £15, you all get two mop head refills. It's great value.

Karcher SE1 Upright Steam Mop

Karcher mop was small and got to work quickly
Credit: Oliver Dixon
One of the best steam mops I've tested.
Not only is it small, compact and lightweight, the water tank sits on the head of the mop and it gets hot enough to start generating steam within 30 seconds.
Others took a lot longer to heat up. It has a built-in descaling cartridge, so there will be no limescale or scum left behind on your floors, either.
I liked that the mop pad has a hook and loop fastening, so, when you're removing a dirty pad, you won't have to touch it, keeping your hands free from any dirt and bacteria the mop has picked up from the floors.
The only negative I have is that the water tank is too small and needs to be topped up quite frequently, which was a pain."

Bona Premium Spray Mop

This mop sprays just the right amount
Credit: Oliver Dixon
This mop was brilliant - performing most effectively on wooden floors, giving them with a nice shine with minimal effort.
The mop sprays just the right amount of liquid on the floor so it dries quickly and there is no slippery or damp floor to manage afterwards.
It's lightweight with a good swivel head, so it can manoeuvre easily into tight spaces or under furniture.
The handle and trigger are nicely designed, so it's comfortable to hold and spray cleaning solution as and when you need it.
The handle isn't adjustable and is quite tall so you might need to bear that in mind if you are shorter.
I'm 5ft 7ins and it was comfortable for me.
The microfibre pad was great at picking up dust and hair - but I found it best to give the floor a quick vacuum beforehand.

Vax Steam Fresh Total Home Cleaner
£99.99

The Vax mop costs a lot but can be used for other areas
Credit: Oliver Dixon
Pricey, but this will clean more than your kitchen floor.
It comes with a whole host of accessories designed to clean everything from windows and tiles to grout and hard-to-reach areas. It can also be used on carpets and rugs.
I found myself blasting steam at every stain I came across and it made light work of most of them and was deeply satisfying to use.
It even got rid of a tough stain on the floor by my kitchen island that I've been battling to get rid of for months.
All the attachments are easily stored on board the unit so it wasn't too big to store. It also kills 99.9 per cent of bacteria so I felt like my entire home had had a deep clean after using this. Worth every penny.
Performance: 5/5
Value: 4/5

Lakeland Double-Sided Floor Mop

The Lakeland mop was the most impressive
Credit: Oliver Dixon
This double-sided mop has a chenille side and a microfibre side so you can scrub away and deep clean your floors.
Once clean, simply flip over and use the other side to dry your floors.
This means you don't have to wait around waiting for it to dry.
It's a sleek, light weight design weighing just 0.8kg and yet it has a generous 750ml water tank so you didn't have to keep refilling it in the middle of the job.
Very effective, leaving floors shiny and dirt free. An excellent product for less than £30.

Homeowner with mountain of festering rubbish piling up in her garden is threatened with ‘direct action'
The junk has become a magnet for vermin LOAD OF RUBBISH Homeowner with mountain of festering rubbish piling up in her garden is threatened with 'direct action' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A COUNCIL has threatened to take 'direct action' to clear up a rat-infested front garden piled high with junk. Sharon Cochrane's property in Hunstanton, Norfolk, is nearly buried with broken furniture, bags of rubbish, and household appliances. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 West Norfolk council have agreed to take 'direct action' after neighbours reached their wits' end 4 Rats are said to have spread from the chaotic front garden Now, West Norfolk councillors have agreed "direct action" can be taken if necessary over Ms Cochrane's untidy plot at her £250,000 property. However, the authority has said no deadline has been set and it is trying instead to work with her because she has begun to clear the rubbish. A spokesman for the council said: "The council is working with the owner to manage her property. "Officers recognise that she has made an effort to clear the exterior and they will continue to support her to do this. "However, they also have the council's authority to take direct action, which means that if it becomes necessary a clear-up can be undertaken, for which she will be liable." Ms Cochrane, 66, enraged neighbours on the resort's Chatsworth Road after junk piled high in her front garden. A supermarket trolley full of groceries had also been left, while a car with a damaged wing and flat front tyre is parked on the street outside with a sideboard next to it. But Ms Cochrane previously insisted it was no-one else's business. She said: "The world is going to hell in a handbasket and people care so much about my furniture on my own drive. "I don't understand why people are so concerned." Locals said the pile was attracting vermin and was lowering the tone of the whole street. One neighbour said: "I'd like to throw a molotov cocktail on it. "People have tried to get lots of different agencies involved but nothing seems to happen. "We only occasionally see her walk past to Tesco with a shopping trolley. "This is a quiet, peaceful road and it's a shame." Tammy Edmunds, spokesperson of Chatsworth Road, said: "How can the law of the land let someone live in such squalor and filth? "I appreciate there are laws and regulations but some people seem to live above them. "The street has been suffering with this on and off for ten years and in the last five weeks its gotten worse. "It's a fire hazard and risk of health and safety. "We've heard of rats from there spreading across to other properties which has meant pest control have had to come out." West Norfolk Council served an enforcement notice under the Town and Country Planning Act ordering Ms Cochrane to clear up the mess. If it takes "direct action", she would be liable for the cost of removing it and could have a charge put on her property to recover the money if she is unable to pay. The Sun has contacted West Norfolk council for additional comment and updates. 4 Sharon has argued that her garden is 'no-one else's business'

Pro garden designer reveals 69p hack that will kill green flies without using any nasty chemicals to harm your plants
The remedy can be found in your kitchen WASH THIS Pro garden designer reveals 69p hack that will kill green flies without using any nasty chemicals to harm your plants Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IF your garden is looking a bit of a mess and you want to ensure it looks fresh, you've come to the right place. It turns out that there's a nightmare pest that may be living in your garden - and it could be the reason why your grass and plants are ruined. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 You may spot aphids clustered on the stem of soft shoots – look under leaves in particular Credit: Getty 2 Pollyanna Wilkinson, right, shared how to banish the pest without harming your garden Credit: The Ins & Outs Podcast Aphids are extremely common and can impact plant growth. They have tiny soft pear-shaped bodies, and are usually green or black. You may spot them clustered on the stem of soft shoots – look under leaves in particular – or may find a sticky substance on your plants that gives away aphids have been there sucking at the sap. But while there's no need to be alarmed, it's best to identify the problem as soon as possible - and luckily, a gardening whizz has come to rescue with a wallet-friendly solution. Speaking on her podcast, The Ins & Outs, Pollyanna Wilkison responded to a listener who had written into the show how to banish the common pest from their birch tree. The gardening designer said: ''We're getting a lot of questions about how to get rid of aphids and it's a tricky one. ''Because on the one side, I want to say to you aphids are actually amazing forage for loads of really important insects - ladybugs, hoverflies, parasitoid wasps all eat aphids. ''They will be eaten by these guys if you leave them alone.'' However, if you're dealing with ''an absolute infestation'', there's something you can use - and it's already in your kitchen. According to Pollyanna, green-fingered Brits can use washing-up liquid - which you can snap up for around 65p from your local supermarket. The £14.50 Wickes buy people are swearing by to get rid of weeds on their driveway for GOOD She explained in the podcast: ''The best thing you can do is put some washing-up liquid in a spray bottle and spray everything. ''That's not going to hurt anything. ''Whatever they breathe through, it blocks it and then they die.'' Keep pests out all summer IF you want to ensure that your home is pest free this summer, here's what you need to know. Hornets and wasps - hate the smell of peppermint oil so spraying this liberally around your patio or balcony can help to keep them at bay. Moths - acidic household white vinegar is effective for deterring moths. Soak some kitchen roll in vinegar and leave it in your wardrobe as a deterrent. Flying ants - herbs and spices, such as cinnamon, mint, chilli pepper, black pepper, cayenne pepper, cloves, or garlic act as deterrents. Mosquitoes - plants, herbs and essential oil fragrances can help deter mozzies inside and out. Try eucalyptus, lavender and lemongrass. ''We're not here for the pesticides - the washing-up liquid will do it absolutely fine.'' The gardening whizz also recently shared the common decoration she hates - hanging baskets. 'Hate them. I effing hate hanging baskets. 'And the reason I hate them is much the same reason that I hate small pots.' She shared the first reason for this is that she doesn't think they are 'very attractive as a vessel.' Pollyanna explained on the episode: 'You can tend to see the plastic inside because it's got a plastic liner, because otherwise, obviously the water is going to go through. 'And I don't like seeing plastic in the garden. 'And also the body of soil that a hanging basket holds - unless it's those amazing ones outside the Ritz, which are just the most extraordinary thing I've ever seen, but those are the sides of a beach ball - it's just, it's this tiny little dish of mud.'

Putin warns Trump he ‘will have to respond' to Ukraine's daring drone attack in hour-long phone call with president
VLAD VOWS REVENGE Putin warns Trump he 'will have to respond' to Ukraine's daring drone attack in hour-long phone call with president Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) VLADIMIR Putin has warned Donald Trump he 'will have to respond' to Ukraine's daring drone strike on Russian airfields, the US president revealed. In a dramatic post on Truth Social, Trump said the Russian tyrant issued the warning during a 75-minute phone call where the pair discussed rising tensions in Ukraine, as well as Iran's nuclear ambitions. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 President Donald Trump spoke with Kremlin despot Vladimir Putin on the phone Credit: AP 4 Ukraine destroyed 41 Russian planes across four key airfields 4 Putin told the US president he 'will have to respond' to Ukraine's drone strike Credit: AP 'It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace,' Trump wrote. 'President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.' The call, confirmed by the Kremlin, follows Operation Spiderweb — a daring Ukrainian drone blitz that wrecked 41 Russian planes across four strategic airfields, in a coordinated assault likened to WWII's most audacious missions. Newly released footage from Ukraine shows drone after drone spiralling down onto Putin's nuclear bomber fleet, turning the aircraft into flaming wrecks. In one dramatic clip, a drone hones in on a bomber while another lies burning nearby. In another, a row of bombers blazes along the runway. Ukraine's intelligence service, the SBU, deployed 117 kamikaze drones, each with its own pilot, targeting the Olenya, Belaya, Dyagilevo, and Ivanovo-Severny air bases — deep inside Russian territory. The swarm of drones was launched from shipping containers hidden in plain sight, with Russian lorry drivers unknowingly parking them next to military bases. As civilians watched in disbelief, the containers cracked open and unleashed the aerial assault. Ukraine said the cost to the Kremlin could reach $7 billion (£5.4bn), wiping out a major chunk of its long-range aviation fleet, including Tu-95MS and Tu-22M bombers and A-50 spy planes.
