Nitish Reddy ruled out of England tour
Reddy, who featured in the second and third Tests, picked up the injury while training in the gym on Sunday, with scans revealing ligament damage. 'Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining twoTests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home and the team wishes him a speedy recovery,' the BCCI said in a press release.
Arshdeep, who is yet to feature in the series, sustained an impact injury to his left thumb while bowling in the nets during a training session in Beckenham last week.
'The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring his progress,' the statement read. Haryana seamer Anshul Kamboj has been added to the squad as cover, and he has already linked up with the squad in Manchester. The fourth Test is slated to begin at the Old Trafford on Wednesday. Hosts England lead the five-match Anderson Tendulkar Trophy 2-1.

Evaarah was born on March 24, when Rahul was on leave during IPL 2025, but he rejoined Delhi Capitals only two days later and then came to England in early June, just days after the tournament was concluded. He has enjoyed a good run in the five-Test series, scoring 421 runs, including two centuries, at an average of 60.14. However, off the field, staying in England without his wife, actress Athiya Shetty, and young family hasn't been easy. He said joining the India 'A' squad for a tour game against England Lions before the Test series was a difficult decision to make, too. 'Yeah, it's a great time in my life for my family," Rahul told former teammate Cheteshwar Pujara on the Sony Sports broadcast. 'I've always loved children. I've always wanted children for a long time. So, made me and my family really really happy. We're in a great place. She's a beautiful little girl. It's brought so much happiness into our lives," he added. 'I have done a little bit (father duties), but unfortunately, two days after she was born, I had to go play the IPL game. And I tried in whatever breaks we got during the IPL to go back for a couple of days and then finish the IPL. It was really hard to take that decision to come here and play that India A game as well because I had not spent any time with her and I knew when I came here, I won't see her for another two months," Rahul said. The tour concludes on August 4 after the final Test and as of now, there's nothing scheduled for India in the month. Rahul said that he's always on the 'baby camera' watching his daughter and is glad to have the support of his family in this time. 'There were some really hard decisions that I've had to make in the last few months. But yeah, I thought that that was the right thing to do for me professionally and my family's been really supportive. My wife was very supportive. So, I came here. So, I haven't seen her and I just keep seeing her pictures and I'm always on the baby camera. Making sure I don't miss anything or any part of her growth. So, it's a difficult thing to do when you're traveling and playing and you miss each day," he said. Root's 38th Test hundred laces England's domination over tired India
Manchester, Jul 25 (PTI) Joe Root produced a batting masterclass on way to a milestone 38th hundred as England exploited a jaded Indian bowling attack to stamp their dominance on the fourth Test here on Friday. At stumps on day four, England were 544 for seven, stretching their first innings lead to 186 runs. Root made a sublime 150 off 248 balls while the other contributions came from Ben Stokes (77 batting off 134) and Ollie Pope (71 off 128), a day after the openers put a pedestrian looking Indian attack to sword. It has been a long tour with another Test to go in a week's time but considering the body language of Indian pacers in the field on Friday, lasting the whole series would be a challenge. The visitors have already been hit by a series of injuries with the latest one being X-factor cricketer Rishabh Pant's toe fracture. Both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj seemed to be bowling with a niggle while debutant Anshul Kamboj hit underwhelming speeds in the range 125-130 kmph. Even Bumrah, who usually bowls in the range of 140 kmph, clocked speeds in the lower 130s. Having bowled just one over in the afternoon session, Bumrah was seen holding his ankle and even had to leave the field briefly. In his 24th over, he managed to procure the wicket of Jamie Smith (9). The sun was out for the majority of the day, making conditions better for batting. Root made full use of that and in the process surpassed the great Ricky Ponting to become the second highest run-getter in Tests, only behind Sachin Tendulkar, who tallied 15921 runs. The lone positive for India was the performance of Washington Sundar who struck twice in the afternoon session after being questionably brought in as late as the 69th over. Shardul Thakur was used for 11 overs, raising questions on the presence of three all-rounders in the team. It would take a special effort from the Indians to bounce back and keep the series alive. In the afternoon session, Root reached his 12th hundred against India as England extended their dominance over India, reaching 433 for four at tea. Washington got the ball to drift and got rid of Pope (71 off 128) and Harry Brook (3 off 12) after lunch, providing a much needed relief for India following a wicketless morning session. Root, however, continued to pile on the runs and reached thee figures with a four down the leg side off Kamboj. India employed spinners Sundar and Ravindra Jadeja from both ends despite taking the new ball. The move worked as Sundar had Pope caught at first slip before having Brook stumped as he could not connect on the charge. Root chose to play on the backfoot when the spinners were in operation and used the reverse sweep effectively. Towards the end of the session, Root took a single off Kamboj to get past the great Ponting in the all time leading run getters list. What was worrying for India was the sight of Bumrah bowling just one over with the new ball before leaving the field. When he finally returned to bowl, the umpires reminded him that he was only allowed to bowl post tea. In the morning, the Indian bowlers did not pose enough threat for Root and Pope who steered England to 332 for two at lunch. After a forgettable evening session on day two, the Indian bowling attack once again failed to make inroads into the England batting. Besides an odd ball keeping low from the James Anderson end and another jumping from the opposite side, Bumrah and Co did not trouble Root and Pope. Guilty of offering too many freebies on the leg side on Thursday, the Indian pacers continued to offer loose balls to release pressure on the opposition. Bumrah bowled a full ball into Root's pads to start his day and the England veteran duly flicked it for a four.
