Former Clark County Council member pleads guilty to felony connected to Jamey Noel case
Former Clark County Council member Brittney Ferree is facing a two-year sentence after entering a guilty plea in connection to the case of former Clark County sheriff Jamey Noel, who was sentenced to 15 years in October.
Court records show Ferree pleaded guilty to one count of conflict of interest Friday and was sentenced to two years in prison with the time suspended to probation. She is expected to report to the Washington County Probation Department and was also ordered to pay a $2,000 fine.

Ferree had previously entered a not guilty plea in August after being accused of voting in favor of funding appropriations for fire and emergency medical services while they received personal benefits paid for by the service's funds in connection to Noel's case.
Noel was sentenced to 15 years in prison last October after pleading guilty to 27 felony counts including corrupt business influence, theft, tax evasion and official misconduct. He acted as Clark County sheriff from 2015-2022 and Indiana State Police began investigating in June 2023 after accusations of Noel hiring county employees to do work for his personal interests, using a business credit card for private purposes and falsifying documents to help an officer receive unauthorized pension funds, among other charges.
Former Clark County councilman John Miller, who was also charged with one count of conflict of interest, is scheduled to appear for his jury trial on Oct. 27.

After Washington state resident Travis Decker was charged with the murders of his daughters Paityn, 9, Evelyn, 8, and Olivia, 5, a U.S. Marshals Service affidavit, obtained by NBC News, reveals that he had suspicious searches on his Google account. 'These Google searches included the following: 'how does a person move to canada,' 'how to relocate to canada,' 'jobs canada' and 'jobs canada,'' US Deputy Marshal Keegan Stanley wrote in the June 6 affidavit, per NBC. 'After the above-listed Google searches, he visited the site 'Find a job - A manhunt is currently underway for Decker, 32, who has not been seen since his daughters were found dead with plastic bags over their heads in Chelan County, Washington near his abandoned truck June 2. 'Decker is currently wanted for three counts of Murder first degree and Kidnapping first degree,' a June 2 statement from the Wenatchee police read. The former couple, Cozart noted, had been divorced for many years but maintained a friendly relationship as co-parents. During the hand-off, Cozart explained that Decker told his ex-wife he would bring their daughters back to her at 8 p.m. that day, as their custody agreement did not allow for overnight visits. When Decker did not show up at the allotted time, Whitney became worried and called him—but his phone went straight to voicemail. She called authorities later that night, according to an affidavit obtained by NBC News. Cozart told CNN that Decker had struggled with mental health issues, but said, 'He never displayed any sort of 'red flags' to Whitney." Former Milwaukee officer is headed to prison for possessing child porn
A former Milwaukee police officer will spend the next three years behind bars for possession of child pornography. Mark T. Horstmeyer also was sentenced last week to five years of extended supervision after he is released, online court records show. Horstmeyer, who had been on the Milwaukee police force for eight years before he was charged in June 2022, reached a deal with prosecutors in April to avoid going to trial. Milwaukee police began investigating Horstmeyer in May 2022 when MPD's Internal Affairs Division received a citizen tip alleging Horstmeyer was in possession of child pornography, according to a criminal complaint. A search warrant executed on his home turned up multiple digital images of such content, the complaint said. The Milwaukee Police Department suspended him during the investigation. Horstmeyer resigned after his arrest, and formal charges were filed two days later. He initially was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, but pleaded guilty to just one of the charges. The other charges were dismissed but read into the court record for sentencing purposes, court records show. Horstmeyer was paid more than $92,000 as a police officer in 2020, the latest data available. Sean "Diddy" Combs Trial Week 5: Defense Requests Second Mistrial

The 19th day of the rap mogul's sex trafficking trial resumed June 9 following his defense team's second request for a mistrial, according to NBC News reporters in the courtroom. Over the weekend, attorney Alexandra Shapiro filed a motion viewed by E! News, in which she argued that his ex Cassie Ventura and her friend Bryana Bongolan of lying about the latter being dangled from a 17th-floor balcony in 2016 by Combs. His defense team—whose first motion was denied by Judge Arun Subramanian May 28—accused the prosecution of 'misconduct' with the 'introduction of perjured testimony.' The prosecution will respond to the motion and the judge is set to respond June 10. As the jury awaits the decision, Combs' ex—who is going by 'Jane' during the trial and was identified as 'Victim-2' in the indictment—has returned to the witness box following an emotional testimony about alleged abuse in their relationship.
