Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Bengaluru on Sunday to inaugurate the much-awaited Yellow Line of Bangalore Metro, and the Vande Bharat Express train between Bengaluru and Belagavi.As per the itinerary shared by the Chief Minister's Office, Modi will participate in three events during his nearly four-hour visit to the city.On landing at the HAL Airport here at 10.30 am, the Prime Minister will travel by helicopter and road to the KSR Bengaluru (city) railway station, where he will flag off Vande Bharat Express trains between KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi.He will also virtually flag off two more Vande Bharat Express trains between Amritsar-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katri, and Ajni (Nagpur)-Pune.Modi will then travel by road to the RV Road (Ragigudda) metro station on the Yellow Line.Between 11:45 to 12:50 he will be flagging off Yellow Line (reach 5) and take a metro ride to the Electronic City station.From there Modi will travel to the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru, where at the institute's auditorium, he will be laying the foundation stone for Bangalore metro phase-3 and officially inaugurating the yellow line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra station.He will then travel by helicopter to the HAL Airport and fly back to Delhi at 2.45 pm.The 19.15 km yellow line from RV Road to Bommasandra of Bangalore metro with 16 stations has been built at the cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore.According to officials, the line is expected to ease traffic congestion in several heavily congested corridors like Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City Junction.The Metro Phase 3, also known as the Orange Line for which the PM will be laying the foundation, will be 44.65 km and it will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore.

"Support PM Modi-Led Government Against Trump's Pressure Tactics": Sharad Pawar
Nagpur: NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday called for supporting the Central government against the "pressure tactics" by US President Donald Trump amid tariff tensions in the national interest. "The imposition of a 50 per cent tariff on Indian goods is a pressure tactic. We, the people of India, should support the government to protect the interests of the country," Pawar said while addressing a press conference in Nagpur. The former Union minister said he doesn't want to speculate whether the Modi government's foreign policy had failed. "We saw the work style of Trump in his first term as US president earlier. I feel no one has control over him. He speaks impulsively whatever comes to his heart," he said. Pawar said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not ignore the signs of a growing chasm between India and neighbouring countries. "We also cannot ignore our approach towards our neighbouring countries. Today, Pakistan is against us, while countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives are not happy with us. "Our neighbours are moving away from us. I feel Modi saheb shouldn't ignore this aspect and should concentrate on improving the ties," he said.

Power consumer complaints remain unheeded as linemen and helpers strike work
Jaipur: At least 2,000 employees of the contractors appointed by the discoms for fault rectification have been on strike for the past three days, causing difficulties for electricity consumers as their complaints for restoring power connections remain unattended. The employees of contractors, Sandha & Company and Vision Plus, said they are demanding a salary hike, which is currently meagre. While the linemen are getting a little over Rs 9,000 a month, the helpers receive Rs 6,600, according to the employees. In fact, their salary was reduced after the new contractors took over the work in 2002. Now, they are demanding hikes up to Rs 21,000 for linemen and Rs 18,000 for helpers. "With this meagre amount, we cannot run our families. We will not resume work until our demands are met," said one of the employees. TOI tried to contact the management of the two companies, but calls and text messages remained unanswered. The employees said that the state govt raised the minimum wage by Rs 27 in 2022, but they did not get the benefits. Sources said in the absence of regular employees, the company has hired temporary workers to manage the maintenance and address consumer complaints, but the temporary measure is not enough.
