Madrid arrives on 24-race Formula One calendar in 2026
The Australian Grand Prix gets the new campaign up and running on the weekend of March 6-8 and it will once again conclude in Abu Dhabi on December 4-6.
Madrid, which last hosted an F1 race in 1981, enters the schedule on September 11-13. The new 'Madring' circuit, featuring both street and non-street sections, is under construction and will be the only new venue on the calendar in 2026.

It replaces the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, which drops off the 24-race list after Max Verstappen's victory in May.
It will also be one of two races in Spain with Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya remaining on the agenda for next season – at least – over the weekend of June 12-14.
These changes come in a year that will see the introduction of new aerodynamics and power unit rules and the arrival of some new names on the grid, including a Cadillac team.
F1 president Stefano Domenicali said: '2026 will be a new era for Formula One where we will witness a brand new set of regulations for our sport, the cars and the engines that will be powered by 100 per cent sustainable fuel.
'We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar and to see huge automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac and Ford join the Formula One grid.

'It promises to be an unforgettable season, where once again we will come together at 24 amazing global venues to watch the best drivers in the world push themselves to the limit and produce incredible wheel-to-wheel racing for our millions of fans watching around the globe.'
Other changes include the Monaco Grand Prix, considered the sport's most prestigious event, moving from its regular end-of-May slot to June 5-7.
The Canadian Grand Prix also switches from its usual June date to May 22-24, following Miami in the schedule, as part of the sport's continued drive to reduce carbon emissions.
The Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort will take place for the final time on August 21-23.
Four-time world champion Verstappen's home race returned in 2021, having previously been absent for 35 years.
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone – which this year celebrates its 75th anniversary – will take place on July 3-5.

You'll step inside Cadillac's luxe new seven-seat electric SUV, the Escalade IQ, and settle into massaging seats with headrest speakers, dual wireless chargers, a 55-inch LED display and other bells and whistles that feel more sci-fi than steakhouse. After a quick walkthrough of the car's jaw-dropping features, dinner is served right to your seat. The menu, courtesy of COTE's Korean-American fusion kitchen, includes 'meat tea' made from simmered USDA Prime short ribs, beef bulgogi gimbap, tartare topped with caviar, and a lavish butcher's bowl featuring filet mignon, 45-day dry-aged ribeye cap, Japanese A5 Wagyu and house-marinated galbi. GMC Sierra EV Driving, Engines & Performance
It's perfect for the Escalade, whose job it is to provide maximum comfort, but less so for something like the Sierra which is meant to be put to heavier use and would benefit for a more communicative base. There isn't much to write home about in terms of how the GMC Sierra EV feels on the road. Similar to the GM vehicles that share its hardware like Hummer EV and Cadillac Escalade IQ , the hefty platform is inherently quite stable, so it pretty much absorbs any road feel, for better or for worse. You bring up the weight a whole lot. We know, we're running out of ways to say 'it's heavy' but there's really no getting around it. For the most part, it's not really an issue most of the time you're driving it until it suddenly is. Meaning that the Sierra isn't awkward or lumbering – in fact the steering is quite dialed in – when it comes to city driving or highway cruising, but it's sure there when quick stops and quicker starts are called for. To expand on its acceleration a bit more, this EV's as quick as any other when it comes to laying down power in an instant, it just can't get around the physics. We're talking seconds here but after that initial punch, you can feel the Sierra's rate of acceleration scrub off almost immediately as its speed continues to increase. And off the road? If the Sierra EV is being put to work on a farm or charged with traversing a wooded path, it's more than capable. An off-road mode dials in the wheel slip and inputs for more control at low speeds, as well as making the rear steering more aggressive for tighter turns. If you find yourself in a position where the Sierra needs to travel gingerly, the AT4 trim's terrain mode has that covered. We're talking precise, one-pedal off-road driving for super-careful maneuvers at single-digit speeds.

Arvid Lindblad, 17, gets F1 exemption after Red Bull request
June 10 - The FIA has granted a Formula 1 super license to Red Bull Junior racer Arvid Lindblad prior to his 18th birthday. The move comes following a request from his team for Lindblad, who will turn 18 on Aug. 8. Eighteen is the age traditionally required to hold a super license, however adjustments were made to the FIA International Sporting Code last year. The following line was added to the code: "At the sole discretion of the FIA, a driver judged to have recently and consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition may be granted a super license at the age of 17 years old." The FIA announced Lindblad's new status following a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council in Macau, China. "After considering the information presented in support of this request, the World Council found that the driver has recently and consistently demonstrated outstanding ability and maturity in single-seater formula car competition and therefore approved the request," a statement said. Lindblad now is eligible to compete in an F1 race weekend. Red Bull currently has four drivers under contract in F1. Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda are part of the senior team, while Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson compete for the junior team. --Field Level Media
