MasterChef viewers spot huge editing blunder as contestant cut out
MasterChef viewers have been left "terrified" after spotting what appears to be an editing blunder in this week's episodes of the BBC competition. It's been a more heavily edited series than usual this year following the sacking of presenters Gregg Wallace and John Torode over the last few months.
Last month, production company Banijay UK and the BBC agreed that "Mr Wallace's return to MasterChef is untenable" after a report into historic allegations of misconduct upheld 45 out of 83 allegations against him. Meanwhile, an allegation against Torode of using racist language was also upheld despite the presenter saying that he had "no recollection of the incident".
With the current series of MasterChef having been filmed before Wallace and Torode's exits from the show, major edits were made to the episodes which appeared to reduce the presenters' screen time. It comes after Gregg Wallace and John Torode 'lack chemistry' in first MasterChef return after axe.
Now, viewers have spotted what they believe are signs that the series' fourth episode has been heavily edited - with one shot of Wallace appearing to be used three different times in one scene.
One viewer shared on TikTok: "Okay the new MasterChef - because they've had to cut out dodgy bits but still keep the presenters in. I don't understand why they had to keep them in but that's what they've done.
"They have reused the same bit of Gregg three times - watch," she added. Wallace then appears to pull the same smiley face three times during an interview with culinary hopeful Hazel.
"This is terrifying," one viewer commented on the vide. Another said: "It looks like they've had a mannequin made of him hoping no one would notice the difference."
However, some were convinced that the clip wasn't edited - suggesting that Gregg may have just been holding that face throughout the scene. "It's not edited he just did that face the whole time," one viewer said.
Another wrote: "He just always looks like that."
A spokesperson for the show's production company, Banijay UK, said: 'One other contributor decided that, given recent events, they would like not to be included. We have, of course, accepted their wishes and edited them out of the show.'

TYLER West and Molly Rainsford have announced their engagement three years after meeting on Strictly Come Dancing. The celebrity pair first met when they competed on the BBC favourite back in 2022. 4 Now the pair have shared Tyler got down on one knee while on a romantic holiday in Mykonos, Greece last week – and Molly happily said yes. Sharing a video from the special moment on Instagram, the post read: "Found our forever 🤍 10.8.2025." In the clip, Molly was seen in a pink tube top and matching skirt, as Tyler walked her to a balcony that overlooked the sea to watch the sunset. With both of them in tears, Molly happily accepts, and after hugging and kissing, Tyler can be seen punching the air, declaring: "Yes! Get in! That's what I'm talking about." TV fans predict 'Inbetweeners reunion' after stars tease new project
Fans of The Inbetweeners have been begging for a reunion of the Noughties comedy series since it came to an end in 2010—and some new photos have given everyone fresh hope. Starring Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison, The Inbetweeners became one of Channel 4's most successful shows of its era. Set in suburban southern England, The Inbetweeners focused on the hilarious and painfully awkward love lives (or lack thereof) of four ordinary boys in sixth form college. It ran for three seasons, produced 18 episodes in total, spawned two sequel films, and is still one of the most popular British comedy shows of all time. Such is the extent of its popularity in Britain that fans have begged for a reunion episode for 10 years now, following the release of The Inbetweeners Movie 2 in 2014. So, when one cast member took to Instagram with a cryptic post, it's safe to say he set the comments alight. On his social media, James teased that he and Joe are 'working on something', giving no further details to excited fans. The post was accompanied by a series of pictures of James and Joe, who dressed up in different outfits for a photoshoot and showed fans behind-the-scenes images of the get-together. Naturally, the comments section reacted anything but calmly to the post. MostlyEnders commented, 'Inbetweeners 3?' while Johnoo1992 demanded, 'We need an Inbetweeners reunion'. SkylarRossFelton said they 'couldn't wait' for a potential Inbetweeners 3, while JamesKeeleyy is also 'waiting' not-so patiently. Following the end of The Inbetweeners, stars Joe and James worked together on the sitcom White Gold, which followed a crew of window salesmen in 1980s Essex. White Gold ran for two seasons between 2017 and 2019 before it was axed by the BBC, with James admitting in 2020 he had no idea the show had been cancelled. Some fans who stayed with the lads until White Gold predicted that the window sales comedy would be making a return following the Insta pics, with that being the most recent project James and Joe worked on together. MichaelParkerus was clear about what he wants: 'I don't care if it's good [or bad], I'll watch anything that supports you four getting back together.' Since then, the four stars of The Inbetweeners have all been working on separate things, with the 2019 Fwends Reunited show still the last time any of them worked together. The reunion show was panned by fans, sadly, as people had expected the talk show to be a one-off sequel episode. Out of all the cast, though, work-wise, it looks like James and Joe are the closest, as this is not the first time they have worked on a new project in 2025, with the two teaming up for an Oasis-themed sketch in aid of Comic Relief. The sketch – titled Oasis: The Reunion – followed efforts to get the feuding brothers back on stage together and starred Martin Lewis as an accountant. More Trending Joe revealed last year that he, James, Simon, and Blake have all discussed the possibility of an Inbetweeners comeback, adding that they think it would be a 'nice thing to do'. 'We're all still around; we're all still in each other's lives. We all still like each other, and if it was something that came up, I think we would want to do it,' he said. View More » Joe continued: 'I feel like we all still really like each other. We've all been able to go away and get various monkeys off our backs, in terms of things that we felt we needed to do other than The Inbetweeners to prove something to ourselves.' Got a story?
