The Phoenix Suns' turbulent 2024–25 NBA season took another dramatic turn when DeMarcus Cousins claimed that the team's issues extended far beyond the court. According to the former All-Star center, things got so bad behind closed doors that players actually came to blows in the locker room.
But Suns forward Kevin Durant, already facing rumors of a potential trade, wasted no time denying the claim, and what followed was a public exchange that has stirred even more questions about what really went wrong in Phoenix.
Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins clash over locker room chaos claims
During an appearance on Run It Back, DeMarcus Cousins didn't hold back when describing what he heard about the Suns' inner turmoil. 'There was a lot of things that happened,' Cousins said. 'There was a lot of things that haven't been reported.
I don't wanna be the guy to report it, but I've definitely heard of some negative things in the locker room. There was a couple of fistfights. There was a lot going on that obviously carries over to the court.
'
Kevin Durant responded within hours on social media, vehemently denying the report. 'I have to contest this 94 footer,' Durant wrote on X. 'This some bullshit to throw on us. Yea yea yea we were trash this year ha ha ha but we NEVER got close to this.

NEVER.'
Cousins then doubled down, insisting his source was a current Suns player. 'The source was one of your teammates killa. And I wasn't referring to you! Save this s--t for the others homie…' he wrote in reply. Despite this, Durant dismissed the credibility of the source altogether, 'Whoa whoa Boog, I don't want no problems with you or anybody on earth. I Promise, all I'm saying is your source is lying.'
While their back-and-forth became the center of attention, Cousins made it clear that he wasn't placing blame on Durant for the Suns' disappointing year.
'For him to be the blame of negative seasons they've had is completely unfair,' he said.
Cousins went further in his critique of the roster itself: 'Phoenix was a bad situation from the jump. They put a team together based off names... That's not how the game of basketball works.'
The Suns finished 36-46, failed to make the playoffs, and fired head coach Mike Budenholzer after just one season.

Even with the team's dysfunction, Durant's individual numbers remained elite. In 62 games, he averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and shot 52.7% from the field. ESPN's Shams Charania reported on The Pat McAfee Show that the Suns are actively exploring trade options for Durant, with the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and Minnesota Timberwolves among the frontrunners.

Talk About All-Round Scoring! Indiana Pacers Etch History As Only NBA Team Ever To...

Last Updated: The Pacers, led by Tyrese Haliburton, have made NBA history as the first team to possess 8 players who have scored at least 200 points each a playoffs series. Nothing is ever more elegant and eloquent than watching the rock being passed all across the court. And in this NBA postseason, the Indiana Pacers have proven to all that they are the masters of the art. Despite all odds and doubts, the Pacers, led by the ever-so-unselfish Tyrese Haliburton, have dominated their opposition so far with their selfless play, which has stumped all those who have faced them so far. And their efforts have skyrocketed them to a winner-takes-all Game 7 in the NBA Finals against the OKC Thunder, who were completely outdone by the Pacers in Game 6. The Pacers' ideology of making the right play always has also resulted in them creating history, becoming the first team in NBA history to have a whopping 8 players to score at least 200 points each in a single playoff run. Former NBA Champion Pascal Siakam (456) leads the pack, followed by their leader, Tyrese Haliburton (390). Defensive and rebounding giant Myles Turner (311) comes third in the list, while breakout ballers Aaron Nesmith (288), Andrew Nembhard (272), and Bennedict Mathurin (219) have also pulled their own weight. NBA Slam Dunk Champion and Pacers' leading scorer in Game 6, Obi Toppin (216), joins in, followed by the ever-underappreciated yet undeniable T.J. McConnell (202) to round off the scorers list. And now, the Pacers have a chance to claim the first NBA championship for a franchise that won three American Basketball Association titles before joining the NBA as part of the ABA-NBA merger in 1976. 'The narratives are going to be almost poison," Haliburton said. 'To talk about what this would mean to our city and our organization and legacy talk, and how we played so well and now the pressure is on (the Thunder) … there's going to be narratives that we can't really pay attention to. 'We've got to control what we can. So much of these games has come down to who is going to start the fight from a physicality standpoint, take care of the ball better, rebound the ball better. 'Those are the important things that we need to focus on … we've got to be ready to compete in game seven." Their ultimate showdown against the Thunder on Sunday marks the 20th game seven in Finals history, and the first since 2016 — when the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Golden State Warriors on their home floor to complete their comeback from a 3-1 series deficit and claim the title. While attending Fanatics Fest, the former Miami Heat star came face-to-face with a life-sized banana boat, courtesy of some creative fans. They actually asked him to sign it. What followed was a hilarious callback to one of the most iconic off-court images in NBA history, all thanks to his wife, Gabrielle Union , who reposted the incident on her Instagram story. Gabrielle Union shared Dwyane Wade's actual banana boat signing moment The banana boat has long been part of Dwyane Wade's public lore. Back in 2015, Wade, Gabrielle Union, LeBron James , and Chris Paul vacationed in the Bahamas. During that trip, they were photographed riding an inflatable banana boat, a photo that instantly went viral and became an internet sensation. Despite its global reach, Wade insists it wasn't meant to be seen. Gabrielle Union shared Dwyane Wade's banana boat signing incident. So, Chris Paul, Bron, and I all got on a banana boat. Now, we were in the middle of nowhere, no one was supposed to know this but us.' He continued, 'Someone took a photo from God knows where. No one was supposed to have seen us on a banana boat!' Adding a playful touch, he joked, 'If I knew they were taking a photo, we would have looked a little cooler.' Gabrielle Union also had fun with the moment. She once revealed that it was her idea to go on the banana boat in the first place, unknowingly setting the stage for one of the most talked-about images in sports pop culture. The "Banana Boat Crew" eventually became an unofficial nickname for Wade, LeBron, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony, even though Anthony wasn't in the original photo. 'Melo showed up late,' Wade said. 'Had he been there on time, he'd be in it too.'
