Alicia Silverstone thought she was dating Cary Elwes after filming kiss for 'The Crush'
Alicia Silverstone had a big crush on Cary Elwes. During an interview with Entertainment Weekly published Saturday, Aug. 16, the 'Clueless' star opened up about making her film debut in 1993's 'The Crush.' Silverstone, who was just 16 at the time, starred in the psychological thriller alongside Elwes, then 30, and she told the outlet that it was a dream come true – even despite the pair's 14-year age difference. 7 Cary Elwes and Alicia Silverstone in a promo shot for 'The Crush.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 7 Alicia Silverstone and Cary Elwes kiss during a scene in the 1993 thriller 'The Crush.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 'I just remember that, when I was little, telling people that I was 'going to kiss the boy from The Princess Bride, but he's a lot older than me,'' she shared. 'We had this kiss in the film and, because I was young, I thought that meant he was my boyfriend now.' 'Not really, but a little bit,' Silverstone added. 'I went to his trailer and asked him if that was okay, and he was so kind.' Years later, when Elwes' wife, Lisa Marie Kubikoff, sent Silverstone pictures from the set of 'The Crush,' the 'Batman & Robin' star still pretended that Elwes was her boyfriend. 7 Alicia Silverstone as Adrian and Cary Elwes as Nick in 'The Crush.' ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 'Lisa Marie, his wife, sent me pictures from back in the day where we're lying together, and I'm looking at her while she's taking the picture like, 'This is my man,'' Silverstone joked. Silverstone also admitted that Elwes was nothing less than a gentleman during their time filming together, and that the 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights' actor was more like a big brother to her. 'But, really, he was a really good big brother to me and took care,' she said. 'He was so lovely. We had a very professional relationship, and he was very big-brother-like to me, and very sweet and kind.' 7 Alicia Silverstone said that Cary Elwes was nothing less than a gentleman during their time filming together ©Warner Bros/Courtesy Everett Collection 'It was just a great job. What a great part to play. It was so fun,' Silverstone added. Elsewhere during her interview, the 'Blast from the Past' star revealed how she almost lost out on her role in 'The Crush.' The Alan Shapiro-directed film follows a 14-year-old girl named Adrian Forrester (Silverstone) who is dangerously obsessed with a 28-year-old writer named Nick Eliot (Elwes). 7 Alicia Silverstone during Televerse 25, a festival by the Television Academy, at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles, California, on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025. Invision for the Television Academy 'At first, I was auditioning almost every day, but I wasn't getting anything,' Silverstone shared. 'Then, all of a sudden, I started to get close to everything. They would say, 'It's between you and one other girl.' But that actually was worse. I'd get so close and then be disappointed, where before I didn't care.' 'They had me back many, many times, and it seemed like I was going to get the part — and then they offered it to someone else. It felt really bad,' she recalled. 'For some reason, I felt like I was supposed to play this psychotic character.' However, Silverstone ultimately landed the role after the original actress dropped out. 7 Alicia Silverstone out and about in NYC on August 6, 2025. She shot a scene with the coming-of-age comedy's star, Fred Savage, who later thought that Silverstone gave him a fake phone number. 'Fred asked me for my number, which was really sweet, because I was 14,' she explained. 'My home phone number was also a fax machine of my dad's work.' 7 Alicia Silverstone visits the IMDb Portrait Studio at Acura House of Energy in Park City, Utah, on January 20, 2024. After starring in the erotic thriller 'Pretty Thing,' which premiered last month, Silverstone is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in Peacock's upcoming 'Clueless' reboot series. While Silverstone admitted that she 'never thought' about doing a revival of the 1995 classic, she is 'excited' and confident that the new show will 'honor' the original movie.

Kendrick Perkins shares harrowing death threat tale over Giannis Antetokounmpo ‘Robin' take
Kendrick Perkins' hot takes are getting people a little too worked up. The former NBA champion and ESPN personality revealed on the 'Road Trippin'' podcast with Channing Frye that Milwaukee Bucks fans went wild after he said that Giannis Antetokounmpo was the 'Robin' to Khris Middleton's 'Batman' during the 2021 NBA Finals. 'I started getting a death threat,' Perkins said during the podcast. 'It was going to my wife's account. This dude was sending me threat after threat. 'I am going to kill your kids. I know where you stay. I am going to murder you.' This was real life.' 3 Kendrick Perkins on the Road Trippin' podcast with Channing Frye and Allie LaForce. YouTube/Road Trippin' The fan took some serious umbrage at Perkins' characterization of Antetokounmpo and Middleton's roles — in Batman lingo — on the 2021 Bucks. 'I've been preaching time and time again that [Middleton is] the Batman of this team and Giannis is the Robin and look,' Perkins said in 2021, 'it's okay to be the Robin — people think that's a bad thing. It's not.' 3 Giannis Antetoukounmpo was caleld Robin to Khris Middleton's Batman in 2021 by Kendrick Perkinns. Getty Images Perkins shared the messages with ESPN and who helped identify the sender, who was later arrested. 'They found the dude and locked him up,' the ex-Celtics star said. 'This is true, and he was like, 'No, no. I wasn't serious.' Like, nah, motherf–ker, you're going to jail. Don't play like that.' Perkins' harrowing tale came as part of a broader discussion about gambling in basketball, in particular regarding Michael Porter Jr., who sent a scary warning to the NBA about fixing player prop bets. Porter's brother, Jontay, was banished from the NBA for manipulating his player props, pulling himself out of games with mystery illnesses or injuries so his Under wagers would win. 3 Kendrick Perkins revealed he received death threats for his comments about NBAE via Getty Images The new Nets' star expressed displeasure about death threats he had received from NBA bettors who threatened to kill him for not helping them win their bet. Perkins added some advice for Porter if he's receiving threats: tell the NBA and let them deal with it in the same way ESPN did for him. 'The work might be about basketball,' Perkins said, 'but the stakes can be much higher.'

'The Batman Part 2' Reportedly Features Robin's Return to the Big Screen
Since the script for The Batman Part 2 was finalized by Matt Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin, the wheels have started turning on the highly anticipated sequel. While there are many questions still to be answered, the follow-up to Robert Pattinson's Batman debut did receive an update on filming. It also reportedly features the return of a character fans haven't seen on the bring screen alongside Batman since 1997—Robin. 'The Batman Part 2' Script Reportedly Includes Robin, per Insider Longtime entertainment insider Jeff Sneider dropped a few tidbits in his latest report on The Batman Part 2. Along with reporting that a source said the script from Reeves and Tomlin was "worth the wait," he said it was described as a"big swing" for the duo. Considering that comment, it makes Sneider's report that Robin is in The Batman Part 2 script even more noteworthy. Per Sneider: "I sat down with a well-placed source this week and asked about The Batman sequel, and this person told me that the script was 'worth the wait," Sneider wrote. "They described it as a 'big swing' for director Matt Reeves and his co-writer, Mattson Tomlin, and said that the duo is 'really going for it' with the uncompromising sequel..." "They also mentioned that the character of Robin is part of the script, which should pique the interest of agents across Hollywood," he added. Robin hasn't been featured on the big screen in a non-animated Batman film since 1997's Batman & Robin, which featured George Clooney as Bruce Wayne and Chris O'Donnell in the role of Robin. Although no other Batman film has opted to go the route of bringing Robin into the mix, it'd be a big move by Reeves, and one that would almost certainly be well-received. Update on 'The Batman Part 2' Filming Timeline While it's been a long time coming, The Batman Part 2 also received an update on filming. Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav broke the news on an earnings call that filming will begin in spring 2026, as ScreenRant revealed. "...'The Batman II' (2027) is preparing to begin shooting next spring, among several other projects in development. The 10-year vision for the DC universe also includes an exciting array of television projects, including 'The Penguin,' the upcoming new season of 'Peacemaker,' and the debut of 'Lanterns' in 2026," Zaslav said. This timeline should align with the expected 2027 release, and also means that in the homestretch of 2025, there should be casting updates more than likely.'The Batman Part 2' Reportedly Features Robin's Return to the Big Screen first appeared on Men's Journal on Aug 8, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword
