8 IPS officers in Chhattisgarh get new postings for anti-Naxal operations
Raipur: The
Chhattisgarh government
has issued fresh postings to eight
Indian Police Service
(
IPS
) officers and deployed them on the
anti-Naxal operations
duty in the state, officials said on Wednesday.
The development comes after Akash Girepunje, the additional superintendent of police (ASP-Konta division) in
Sukma district
, lost his life in a Naxal-planted IED blast on Monday.
All the eight transferred IPS officers, belonging to the 2021 batch, were posted as city superintendents of police (CSP) in different districts, a government official said, adding the state home department issued the transfer order on Tuesday.
As per the order, Surguja CSP Rohit Kumar Shah has been posted as Additional Superintendent of Police (anti-Naxal operations) in Sukma district, and CSP Jagdalpur (Bastar district) Udit Pushkar as ASP (anti-Naxal operations) in Dantewada district.
Korba CSP Ravindra Kumar Meena and Raipur CSP Aman Kumar Raman Kumar Jha have been posted as ASPs (anti-Naxal operations) Bijapur district.

CSP Jagdalpur Akash Shrishrimal will be ASP (anti-Naxal operations) Bhanupratappur in Kanker district, it said.
CSP Civil Lines Raipur Ajay Kumar and CSP Bilaspur Akshay Pramod Sabadra have been posted as ASPs (anti-Naxal operations) in Narayanpur district.
Besides, Raigarh CSP Akash Kumar Shukla has been posted as ASP (anti-Naxal operations), Special Task Force, Baghera in Durg district.
On Monday, ASP Girepunje was killed and two other police officers were injured after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites exploded at a stone quarry near Dondra village in Sukma district.

Security forces gunned down four Naxalites, including three women, in an encounter which took place in the hilly area of Pachama Dadar in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district, police said on Saturday. Security forces also recovered a hand grenade, a rocket launcher, a 315 rifle and cartridges, Special DG Naxal, Pankaj Srivastava told ANI over the phone. "Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh is continuously working towards our resolve to end Naxalism by March 2026. 4 Naxalites have been killed in the encounter in Balaghat today, including 3 women and a man. Many weapons and ammunition, including rocket launcher, have been recovered from them," Yadav said. MP CM Yadav said that the government will reward the personnel for their success in the incident. "The Madhya Pradesh government will definitely reward the policemen who brought good results in this incident," Yadav said. Earlier, Security forces neutralised two Naxals in an encounter in the forest area under Kukanar Police Station area of Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, police said. According to Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan, automatic weapons were also recovered from the spot.

Four Maoists, including three women, killed in ongoing encounter in M.P's Balaghat
At least four Maoists, three of them women, have been killed in an ongoing encounter between security forces and Maoists in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district on Saturday (June 14, 2025), the police said. Madhya Pradesh's anti-Maoists Hawk Force Commandant Shiyaz K.M. told The Hindu that the encounter was under way in the Pachamdadar and Katejhiriya areas of the Sonewani forest area. Mr. Shiyaz said a search operation was launched in multiple parts of the district's dense forest areas based on inputs from the Maoist movement. 'Combing efforts are going on in multiple areas and the encounter will continue at least till tomorrow (June 15, 2025),' he said, adding that heavy rains in the area had made the operation more challenging. Mr. Shiyaz said the operatives belonged to the Malajkhand unit of the GRB (Gondia-Rajnandgaon-Balaghat) Division of the Maoists. 'We had received input of their movement a couple of days ago after which multiple parties were deployed for a search operation. During one such search, firing started from their side and our personnel responded,' the officer said. The encounter is part of a joint operation by the Madhya Pradesh Police's Hawk Force and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), he said. Special Director-General (Anti-Maoist Operations) Pankaj Shrivastav told The Hindu that the four cadres were killed in two separate encounters and that a self-loading rifle (SLR), two .315 rifles, a grenade launcher and other ammunition were recovered from them. 'We cannot divulge much information, as it is an ongoing operation. The forces and officers are currently in the forest.
