Newcastle United make Malick Thiaw enquiry

Yahoo5 hours ago
Newcastle United have enquired about AC Milan's Malick Thiaw.
Thiaw has been on the Magpies' radar for the past two years and has emerged as a target once again this summer as Newcastle gear up for another campaign of European football.
Newcastle scouts reportedly watched the 23-year-old during Milan's pre-season tour in Hong Kong, where he impressed in a 4-2 triumph over Premier League champions Liverpool.
The Magpies were strongly linked with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi last summer, albeit to no avail. They are still in the market for defensive reinforcements.
Thiaw was wanted by Como earlier this summer. Despite Milan accepting an offer, the German opted against a move.
This has opened the door for Newcastle to lure Thiaw to St James' Park.
Thiaw would offer Newcastle versatility along with youth and experience. While he is primarily a centre-back, he can also fill in as a right-back or defensive midfielder.
He would form a robust partnership with Sven Botman, which would be capable of competing domestically and in Europe.
Newcastle have other players on their defensive wishlist, including Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini and Roma's Eva Ndicka.
They could also reignite their interest in Guehi as he enters the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park.

Atalanta will meet for Muniz and Mateta in striker search

Atalanta are reportedly intensifying their pursuit of Fulham centre-forward Rodrigo Muniz, with a meeting also planned for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. According to Sky Sport Italia, 24-year-old Muniz is increasingly seen as the hot favourite to reinforce the attack in Bergamo following Mateo Retegui's record breaking transfer to Al-Qadsiyah. The Brazilian found the net 11 times with two assists in the Premier League last season and his contract only runs to June 2026, although the club does have an option to extend by another year. Formerly of Flamengo, Muniz made the €8m transfer to Fulham in 2021. This is because Mateta is seen as another alternative for the attack, even after the reported €34.7m proposal was rejected. He recently turned 28 and had an impressive 14 goals with two assists in 37 Premier League appearances last term.

Real Madrid Facing Stiff Competition From Barcelona For Chelsea Forward: Good Fit For Alonso?

In a recent report, E-noticies mentioned that Real Madrid are facing stiff competition for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson. It is believed that Los Blancos would have to rival Barcelona in the race to land the Senegalese attacker this summer. Jackson's Impressive Run Of Form In English Football Jackson enjoyed a decent run of form at the West London club as he managed to put in a string of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 24-year-old scored 13 times and earned six assists in 37 matches for Chelsea last season in various competitions. The Senegalese talent led the line well after he averaged 3.08 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 44.7% of his attempts on target. Jackson was tidy when distributing possession in the opponent's half, based on his pass completion rate of 75.9% in the English top flight (stats via His current contract at Stamford Bridge will run out in the summer of 2033. Thus, Real Madrid have got no choice but to meet Chelsea's demands if they are to stand a chance of recruiting Jackson this off-season. WROCLAW, POLAND – MAY 28: Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea is challenged by Natan of Real Betis during the UEFA Conference League Final 2025 between Real Betis Balompie and Chelsea FC at Stadion Wroclaw on May 28, 2025 in Wroclaw, Poland. (Photo by) Is Jackson A Good Fit For Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso? Jackson excels at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd opportunity for his teammates to score and is usually quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent's penalty area. Standing at 1.87m, the Senegalese talent can be a real handful for any defender. Therefore, it makes sense for Los Blancos to take a chance on Jackson as he would help them compete across all fronts in the coming years. Jackson mainly operates as a centre-forward but can also fill in as a wide player on either flank if told to do so by his manager. He already knows La Liga well from his time at Villarreal and won't take much time to adjust to life at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. At 24, Jackson has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a decent fit for Real Madrid's needs this summer. He might even help Los Blancos compete for some major honours over the next few years.

Liverpool confirm signing of Arsenal striker target

Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Will Wright, after beating Arsenal to the acquisition of the Salford City striker. Photo via On Monday morning, Liverpool confirmed the signing of Will Wright from Salford City, with the 17-year-old making a permanent transfer to the Merseyside club. Though Liverpool don't confirm Wright's contract length, given he's still under 18, the longest he could sign on for is three years – or until 2028. Arsenal were also in for the striker, even reaching an agreement with Salford City. But they never agreed personal terms with the player, and Liverpool did. Photo via Wright on Instagram In terms of why Wright chose Liverpool, reports have suggested the player preferred to stay in the north west, with Anfield significantly closer to his previous home in Salford than the Emirates Stadium in London. Yet there have also been suggestions the player preferred the sporting plan laid out for him by Liverpool. In spite of Arsenal's agreement with Salford, it seems they were never that close to convincing the player. Arsenal had planned to integrate Wright in their u21 side, and Liverpool intend to do the same. In fact, they've already given him his first u21 appearance in a goalless friendly draw with Hull City. Photo via Wright on Instagram Only recently turning 17, Wright had already made four competitive appearances for League Two Salford City prior to his departure. He was also heavily involved in senior pre-season this summer. There have been suggestions Arsenal could turn to Igor Tyjon of Blackburn Rovers as a potential alternative academy forward, but the Gunners have already seen one bid for the player turned down.
