Switch 2's controversial game-key cards come on a physical cartridge, but Capcom is still counting its sales of them as digital

Capcom has commented on Nintendo's game-key cards on the Switch 2. Although these releases come in a physical box, the developer and publisher considers them digital sales, due to how the actual product is delivered.
The Switch 2's game-key cards are proving controversial. Rather than containing the game themselves, the small cartridges merely allow you to retrieve a copy online. Even if you get one, you still need internet access.
Putting it another way, you're paying for a glorified download off the eShop in a regular box. This has led to questions over how these releases will be counted, as the boxes are sold in brick-and-mortar stores, but they aren't physical games.
That's why Capcom is just counting them towards the digital total, at least for Street Fighter 6, per the company's latest financial results. The only difference between these and giving you a redeemable code is that you can still lend these cartridges out, allowing for the second-hand market to continue.
Not everything on the Switch 2 will come in game-key card form, only certain games, purportedly because the carts currently come in one size, 64GB. Third-party releases are the most impacted by this workaround, and developers have called the decision between using a proper cart or a key card "not easy."
Nintendo is aware of the consternation. "In the immediate future, physical games are still a key part of our business," Doug Bowser, head of Nintendo of America, said in May. He reiterated the value of the company's relationship with retailers.
The move hasn't gone down well across the industry. Prolific devs have said they "hate" game-key cards, and preservationists call them a "disheartening" move as the industry continues to struggle with future-proofing.
Only time will tell the extent of game-key cards in terms of the Switch 2's longer-term standing.
We have guides on where to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 and how to transfer your Switch save data onto the Switch 2, if you're keen on the new Mario machine.

Today's ‘Wordle' #1456 Hints, Clues And Answer For Saturday, June 14th

How to solve today's Wordle. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Looking for Friday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here: Hooray and huzzah! It's Saturday! The day of Saturn—the one day of the week that celebrates a Roman god instead of Norse/Germanic gods. The rain of early June has departed and now we're in the mid-80s, which is a lot hotter when you're at 7,500 feet above the sea. The sun is brutal. I have to remember to wear sunscreen or I crisp right up. That won't be an issue while we solve today's Wordle, of course. The Hint: Spooky. The Clue: This Wordle has far more consonants than vowels. Okay, spoilers below! The answer is coming! . . . Today's Wordle Screenshot: Erik Kain Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. BLOAT was a great starting word, leaving me with just 18 remaining words and two green boxes. I couldn't think of a perfect word with all new letters, so I went with four new letters in an attempt to rule out the one remaining vowel I thought might be a problem. SHUNT shaved off every possible solution but one: GHOST for the win! Today's Wordle Bot Screenshot: Erik Kain Sadly, the Bot and I tied today so we get 0 points for that. We each get 1 point for guessing in three. Our June totals inch up while the gap remains the same: Erik: 11 points Wordle Bot: 8 points The word ghost comes from Old English gāst, meaning "spirit" or "soul." It is related to Old High German geist (spirit) and is likely from a Proto-Germanic root gaistaz. The deeper origin is uncertain, but it may be linked to the idea of breath or life force. You can save thousands on our favorite 8K TV right now, but there aren't many left

If you've ever wanted an 8K TV, now is the time. At the very top of our list of the best 8K TVs sits the Samsung QN900D 8K QLED. It's an expensive TV, but right now we're seeing both its 75-inch and 85-inch variations have a huge sale. The 75-inch version is $1,700 off, bringing it to $4,298 from $5,998, and the 85-inch version is $2,200 off, bringing it from $7,498 to $5,298. Unfortunately, the stock is actually dwindling quite quickly, and I'm seeing fewer TVs available now compared to when I first found the deal last night. As I write there are only 7 of the 75-inch and 13 of the 85-inch TVs remaining on sale. So, if you want this TV, you should legitimately hurry up and get it now — this 8K TV deal probably won't last the weekend. Why you should buy the Samsung QN900D 8K QLED TV The TV is considered great for more than just its outstanding 8K upscaling (it's still hard to find natively 8K content these days) but also for its full range of features. Gaming on a Samsung QN900D is a fantastic experience due to quality ports, letting you game with a 4K resolution at 240Hz. Sports fans will love the TV's AI processor that recognizes balls and clarifies them for a clear view of where they're at — this isn't just motion rate, it's actual AI enhancement. When our editorial team published their QN900D initial impressions, they were 'mighty impressed' by the upscaling. This TV makes low-resolution and low-bit-rate streaming look legitimately good. This QLED TV deal is very hot at the moment and the TVs are selling out quickly. The $5,998 75-inch version is $1,100 off, bringing it down to $4,298, while the $7,498 version is $2,200 off, bringing it down to $5,298. Altogether there are only 20 TVs left between these two. Though I'm now seeing that there are 'more on the way' for the 75-inch version of the TV (and not the 85-inch version) there is no indication of how many or when they will arrive. The best way to lock this deal in is to get it now.

Konami Confirms SILENT HILL 1 Remake with Bloober Team — GeekTyrant

Konami isn't done resurrecting Silent Hill projects. During their latest Press Start showcase, the publisher officially confirmed that the original Silent Hill (1999) is getting a full remake, and the team behind the recent Silent Hill 2 remake, Bloober Team, is developing the game. The reveal came via a brief but haunting teaser, with music pulled straight from the original game, a nod to longtime fans who know exactly what that tune signals. Originally released in 1999, Silent Hill introduced players to Harry Mason, a father searching for his missing adopted daughter, Cheryl, in the fog-drenched, cult-riddled town of Silent Hill. What starts as a desperate search slowly unravels into something far more disturbing, as Harry is pulled into a world of occult rituals and psychological horror. I stayed up all night with a friend of mine playing this game, and it scared the hell out of us, and it was one of my most memorable gaming experiences. The game was the foundation for what would become one of gaming's most iconic horror franchises, and while Silent Hill 2 tends to get all the critical love, the original game's eerie storytelling and dread-soaked design laid the groundwork. It makes sense that Konami and Bloober would want to bring new players back to where it all started—especially if the plan is to revisit Silent Hill 3 , which is directly tied to the first game's narrative. While the announcement didn't include a release date, the renewed partnership between Bloober Team and Konami seems to signal a long-term investment in Silent Hill's legacy. As for what's coming next, Silent Hill f is still on track for release on September 25, 2025. That standalone entry follows Shimizu Hinako as she fights off horrifying creatures in a twisted version of the fictional Japanese town Ebisugaoka. It promises a very different flavor of horror, but with the same mind-bending atmosphere the franchise is known for. Watch the trailer below. It starts at the 35:26 timestamp.
