Dancing On Ice star teases career move to ITV's Loose Women after show axe
The Dancing on Ice star has been a familiar face on screens in the UK for many years now and is looking for a new gig
Loose Women: Oti Mabuse discusses quitting Strictly
A Dancing On ice star has hinted at her aspirations to secure a regular spot on another ITV programme following the cancellation of the reality show.
Professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 34, first gained recognition in the UK when she joined the cast of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing in 2015.
During her tenure on the talent show, she emerged victorious twice - first with soap star Kelvin Fletcher in 2019 and then with comedian Bill Bailey in 2020. After partnering with rugby player Ugo Monye in 2021, she left the show and moved to ITV to serve as a judge on Dancing On Ice in 2022.

However, last month saw the termination of the long-standing ice skating competition by ITV due to plummeting viewing figures, ending its intermittent 19-year run. Oti faced further disappointment when her other ITV project, The Masked Dancer, where she was a judge, was cancelled in 2024 after just two seasons.

Despite these setbacks, the star has suggested that she is aiming for a new role on the network - as a regular panellist on the renowned lunchtime chat show, Loose Women. The current affairs discussion show boasts a panel that includes Denise Welch, Coleen Nolan, and Nadia Sawalha.
Earlier this month, Oti made her first appearance as a guest panellist on the daytime programme, hinting at the possibility of more frequent appearances. In an interview with the Express, she expressed her desire to return to the show, reports the Mirror.
The dancer shared with the publication: "That was amazing, it was really fun. I have to give it up to Ruth, Jayne and Denise because they were so lovely and we had so much fun, and they made me feel so welcome and at ease.
"I was obviously nervous, but it was nice to be padded around by people who know what they're doing."
Oti also confessed that being a panellist on the show was less nerve-wracking than appearing as a guest.

She elaborated: "I was less nervous as a panellist than I am as a guest because as a guest there's specific things that you have to say. Whereas a panellist, they just let you talk, and you discuss things and it's like sitting with your friends and having a coffee and just chatting away."
Audiences felt a connection when Oti opened up about personal challenges including her brother's suicide, her departure from Strictly, and her body image issues. She disclosed: "I think being on Loose [Women], which is what is so amazing about it, is that everybody's got their independent life experiences.
"And I shared mine and I'm very open about it and I think since the jungle that has helped me to just be me and not be afraid of just being honest and being genuine and being authentic. Those things did happen and I don't shy away from it.
"They don't make me less than a person, if anything, I think I'm at a point in my life right now where I can address them and I know how to articulate and be sensitive because other people are going through the same thing, but it's also to raise awareness."
ITV last month announced that the popular show Dancing On Ice will not return after its 17th season, which wrapped up early March. The series first hit the screens in 2006 and took a brief hiatus from 2015 before making a comeback in 2018.
An ITV spokesperson commented: "Following another successful series earlier this year, Dancing On Ice will be rested in 2026 with no current plans for another series.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the cast and crew who have worked on the show since 2006, and over the previous 17 series, for all of their hard work both on and off the ice."

The Chase fans 'fuming' as ITV show taken off air in major schedule shake-up
The Chase fans were left fuming tonight as they switched over to ITV to watch their favourite quiz show - only to find out it had been pulled off air in a huge schedule shake-up The Chase fans were left fuming after ITV abruptly took their favoured quiz off air in a swift scheduling reshuffle. The usual 5pm slot for the fan favourite quiz show, fronted by Bradley Walsh, was unexpectedly pulled from the schedule on Tuesday (June 17). Today, the programme was pulled from its usual 5pm slot due to coverage of the Royal Ascot on the opening day of the racing festival. Unfortunately for fans, the bad news carries on all week with racing coverage starting at 1.30pm and finishing at 6pm. Disgruntled viewers took to X, previously known as Twitter, to vent their frustrations, with many quiz show lovers switching over to BBC One's Pointless. One disappointed fan penned: "# TheChase since there's no Chase tonight, it's over to #pointless", while another chaffed: "Not #TheChase I was expecting #RoyalAscot." Another penned: "Just sat down to watch #TheChase but instead i get [horse emoji]", as another who switched to the rival show announced: "No 5pm repeat of #TheChase today or all week due to Ascot! So Pointless will probably double its audience to at least 10." It's not the only ITV show that has been affected by the coverage. Yesterday, Loose Women 's Ruth Langsford announced that the show wouldn't be airing for the rest of the week. "That's it from us today, I'm afraid. It gets worse, we're not on all week," she told viewers. "ITV's coverage of Ascot will be on, but we will be back same time next Monday. Until then, have a lovely week." The Chase first graced our screens in 2009 and swiftly became a staple on ITV. It features regular contestants vying against each other, testing their general knowledge for the chance to bag a hefty cash prize. This isn't the inaugural time the quiz programme has encountered significant disruption this year. Earlier this month, the teatime programme was pulled off air to accommodate coverage of the UEFA Women's Nations League, Spain v England. The Chase also altered its usual timetable last week when two Soccer Aid for UNICEF special episodes were broadcast on Wednesday and Friday. Shaun Williams, David James, Lianne Sanderson, and Dion Dublin comprised the team of four celebrities who squared off against Darragh Ennis. Meanwhile, Dermot O'Leary, Lynsey Hipgrave, Kyle Walker, and Alex Brooker challenged Anne Hegerty on Friday night to raise funds for UNICEF. The Chase makes its comeback to our screens on Monday 23 from 5pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.

BBC EastEnders fans annoyed as characters gone for weeks
The BBC soap has been making headlines this week with the return of Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) heading back to Walford after 20 years. But some viewers have been discussing their thoughts about other recent storylines around Albert Square. EastEnders fans 'annoyed' over 'disappearing' characters Slaters, bickering, and Alfie caught slap bang in the middle. Welcome back Zoe! #EastEnders tonight at 7:30pm on @BBCOne and on @BBCiPlayer — BBC EastEnders (@bbceastenders) June 17, 2025 It comes as someone asked on Reddit: 'Why does EE keep doing this a storyline starts heating up and then next episode the characters are just gone for weeks.' They added: 'Just recently we've had the Lauren, Peter and Jimmy storyline, which was heating up, just for them to not be shown in around 2-3 weeks. 'The same with Zack and Barney and also Jean finding out about Kathy and Harvey, just for her to be randomly gone in the next episode, and there's more that I've not mentioned. 'Am I the only one that gets annoyed with how they are doing it?' This person replied to the r/eastenders subreddit post: 'I'm always surprised when they return because it's been so long.. 'oh yes! This story'. Emmerdale is doing it too.' EastEnders' Top 5 Villains A third wrote: 'This has always annoyed me. I assume it's to keep everyone on the edge of their seat and keep them watching to see the end of the story I guess to keep viewership up.' Some argued it was due to the style of ex-executive producer Chris Clenshaw and hope new boss Ben Wadey 'puts a stop to it', while others said it was simply due to the format of 'block storytelling' and is something most soaps do, and have done for years. As one viewer shared: 'Block storytelling? Deffo not a Clenshaw thing - it's been going on for years (to some degree or another) and it'll only stay that way whilst we have such a big cast lol.' Another agreed: 'Nope. That's the nature of soaps. They can't have the same characters on all the time. I'm sure you can find something else to worry about.' Recommended reading: However, it seems Reddit profiles were also in favour of the move, as they explained: 'I prefer the block storytelling to be honest. 'I think it keeps it fresh by telling stories properly instead of churning them out half baked Coronation Street style.' Have you been "annoyed" by EastEnders characters "disappearing" recently during big storylines, or do you agree it's just the way British soaps work? Let us know in the comments below.
