Lumio Vision 7 QLED TV Tackles A Core Issue Without Any Major Trade-Offs

Have you experienced your smart TV slowing down over time, which was already slow to turn on to begin with? Many consumers fix this issue by purchasing an Apple TV or an Amazon Fire TV Stick. But Circuit House Technologies' Lumio brand is aiming to solve this issue out of the box. The company is debuting with two TV models – Vision 7 and Vision 9 in India.
The Lumio Vision 7 comes in 43-inch, 50-inch, and 55-inch sizes with 4K resolution, whereas the Vision 9 offers a 55-inch 4K mini-LED panel. I've been using the 55-inch Vision 7 (INR 39,999) for over a week, and while Lumio focuses on solving a core performance issue, it does so without compromising the essential TV experience.

Many TVs in this price range either compromise on the panel tuning or on sound, but the Vision 7 is different. It features a QLED panel with 4K resolution and up to 400 nits of peak brightness. For my content consumption experience, I watched Cha Cha Real Smooth on Apple TV, Spider-Man: Far From Home on Netflix, and IPL matches on JioStar.
The Lumio Vision 7 offers nine Picture Modes to personalize your viewing experience: Standard, Dynamic, Movie, ECO, Gentle, Vivid, Sport, Game, and Personal, which you can tune to your liking. In Dolby Vision content, like on Apple TV, you get Dolby Vision Dark, Dolby Vision Bright, and Dolby Vision Game.
Lumio has tuned the Vision 7's panel very well. The HDR on Spider-Man was great without being overblown (which can be an issue on several low-quality TV panels). The bright areas retained details, which made for a captivating viewing experience. I set it to a warmer tone in Movie mode, which I prefer over Standard for videos due to my room's warm lighting. Though I preferred watching IPL matches in the Standard mode.
As for Dolby Vision modes, the Dolby Vision Dark setting is best suited if you're watching movies with no lights on. It is slightly dimmer than the Bright preset, which is better suited for the day. It is an excellent panel to consume HDR content, aided by clear and loud sound. You don't get a thrusting bass in action scenes, but these are very good speakers for a TV. The dialogues were clear without getting muffled. It can get louder than expected, and I found myself getting room-filling sound at the 20–25 volume mark.

Most budget and mid-range TVs take too long to switch on and load apps. It can be a snoozefest and I've missed watching crucial deliveries in live cricket matches because I was waiting for my TV to load. The Lumio Vision 7 is a refreshing experience in that regard, thanks to 3GB of DDR4 RAM and a faster processor.
It runs a familiar Google TV UI, but in a faster form. The Vision 7 takes more than 30 seconds to turn on, but it's quicker than a 1-minute wait on other TVs. The Lumio Vision 7 offers a snappy navigation experience. It is responsive and loads apps faster (including the Apple TV app for Android). You might not appreciate it until you use it, because we're used to long loading times on TVs.
Lumio has also added a first-party app called TLDR, which is a custom dashboard offering a new approach to content discovery. It displays trending music and sports scores in a three-column layout. You can't personalize it yet, but I'd prefer for Lumio to let me add my favorite teams and musicians so their latest scores or work is on top in TLDR.

The Lumio Vision 7 offers 3x USB ports, an optical port, an ethernet port, and 3x HDMI 2.1 ports, with one supporting eARC to connect a soundbar. These are easy to reach, situated on the left side (from your view when sitting opposite the TV). The stands are solid, and I had no issue setting them up.
As for the remote, it's built out of plastic but has a grey finish. It is light and includes hotkeys for Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, and TLDR. Other buttons include volume rockers, a mute button, Google Assistant, and more. It looks a bit cluttered, but I'd rather have buttons than a minimalist layout just for sleekness. Lumio's remote is functional, ergonomic, and holds all the buttons you might need.
The Lumio Vision 7 QLED TV starts at INR 29,999 for the 43-inch size in India. It goes up to INR 39,999 for the 55-inch model, and the 50-inch option sits in the middle at INR 34,999. The mini-LED-equipped Lumio Vision 9 comes in a single 55-inch model for INR 59,999.
The Lumio Vision TV lineup will be available for pre-order starting April 23 through Amazon India's website. You can get two years of comprehensive warranty and another year of extended warranty if you pre-order one till April 30. As for after-sales service, the brand promises service through a network of over 300 service centres covering 19,000 pin codes in India.

Breaking Bad creator's new show streams on Apple TV+ November 7
Apple has announced that Pluribus, a new science fiction drama from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 7. Gilligan was confirmed to be working on the project back in 2022, when Better Call Saul's Rhea Seehorn was also announced as its primary star. Alongside the premiere date, Apple also released a short (somewhat ominous) teaser for the series that shows a hospital employee mindlessly licking donuts. Pluribus is supposed to follow "the most miserable person on Earth" (presumably Seehorn) as they "save the world from happiness," but your guess is as good as mine as to how the two tie together. Apple's penchant for backing science fiction shows has been well-documented at this point. The company is currently producing a television adaptation of William Gibson's Neuromancer, and has made three seasons and counting of Foundation, based on the novel series by Isaac Asimov. Toss in things like Severance, Murderbot, Silo and For All Mankind and you've got a pretty varied catalog of sci-fi media to choose from. Just how "science fiction" Pluribus will actually be remains up in the air. When reports went out in 2022 that Apple was ordering two seasons of the show, it was described as "a blended, grounded genre drama." Apple's premiere date announcement pitches the show as "a genre-bending original." Pluribus' nine-episode first season will premiere on November 7 with two episodes. New episodes will stream weekly after that, all the way through December 26.

‘Ted Lasso' Kicks Back Into Gear With Key Returnees, New Cast for Season 4
The fourth season of Ted Lasso is underway, with filming beginning Monday and the core of the show's cast returning. Several actors have also joined the Apple TV+ series, which will find its title character (Jason Sudeikis) taking on the coaching of a women's soccer team. After a long period of speculation about the show's future following its third season finale in May 2023, Apple officially ordered a fourth season in March. Sudeikis was the only castmember that Apple would confirm at that time, but producer Warner Bros. TV had previously picked up options for Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein and Jeremy Swift, who play, respectively, AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton, player turned assistant coach Roy Kent and Leslie Higgins, Rebecca's right-hand man at the club. All three are returning, as are Juno Temple (Keeley Jones) and Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), who at the time of the season four pickup were in negotiations to reprise their roles. Vince Gilligan's New Apple TV+ Sci-Fi Show Is Coming Real Soon
Amid all the hubbub of San Diego Comic-Con weekend, Apple TV finally unveiled its new sci-fi drama series, Pluribus, created by Breaking Bad creator and Better Call Saul co-creator Vince Gilligan. Although Pluribus is Gilligan's first venture into sci-fi, it will feature a familiar face: Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul. Apple TV's press release for Pluribus, like its teaser poster, doesn't reveal much about the show in terms of what viewers can expect from its story, aside from Gilligan's name being attached to it and that it'll consist of nine episodes. In the spirit of enticing vagueness, the streamer coupled its official announcement with a date trailer. The date announcement trailer for Pluribus taps into the cringe-worthy YouTube prank culture from nearly a decade ago. In the clip, a woman licks the bottom of every donut before placing them back into their container—color us appropriately grossed out and curious to see how the show's sci-fi elements unfold. Apple's brief logline for the series describes it as being set in a world where 'the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.' Presumably starting with one licked donut at a time. Alongside Seehorn, the cast includes Karolina Wydra (Sneaky Pete), Carlos-Manuel Vesga (The Hijacking of Flight 601), Miriam Shor (American Fiction), and Samba Schutte (Our Flag Means Death). In tandem with the show's announcement, Apple TV put ten toes down on Gilligan's new hotness by already picking the nine-episode series up for a second season. The drama series is being executive produced by Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski, and Jeff Frost. Although he remained somewhat vague about the show's specifics, he mentioned to Variety that production was nearing the completion of its first season. 'I wouldn't call this heavy science fiction, I would call it mild science fiction,' Gilligan told Variety. 'But it does have a sci-fi element to it, at its core. And there's no crime, and no methamphetamine. It's going to be fun and different … I know it's a story that interests me, and Rhea will be playing a very different character than she played on Saul. The weird thing is that it takes place in Albuquerque, except it's a whole different world. There's no overlap that I can see.' Given Gilligan's history working on shows like The X-Files, we can only hope he brings some of that uncanny energy into whatever Pluribus winds up being about.
