UAE: Etihad hits record 20.3 million passengers in 12 months for the first time
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has achieved a major operational milestone, carrying over 20 million passengers in a 12-month span for the first time. The airline also posted strong growth in July 2025, supported by an expanding fleet and a broader destination network.
Strong monthly and year-to-date growth
Etihad Airways recorded a significant rise in passenger traffic in July 2025, flying 2.0 million passengers, a 19% increase from the 1.7 million carried during the same month in 2024. The airline's passenger load factor—a key metric indicating how efficiently an airline fills available seats—climbed to 90%, up one percentage point from 89% in July 2024.
Over the first seven months of 2025, Etihad has transported 12.2 million passengers, reflecting a 17% year-on-year increase from the 10.4 million carried during the same period in 2024.
The average load factor for the year so far has risen to 88%, compared to 86% in the equivalent period last year.
These figures underscore steady and sustained demand across the airline's global network, contributing to its sharp rise in year-on-year performance.
Milestone achievement: 12-month passenger record
The airline's rolling 12-month passenger total has reached 20.3 million, crossing the 20 million mark for the first time in its history. This achievement places Etihad firmly among the fastest-growing carriers in the region.

Commenting on the milestone, Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, highlighted the strength of demand and the airline's ability to scale effectively. He noted the record July figures and emphasized the trust customers continue to place in the carrier's network and service offerings.
Fleet growth and new aircraft deliveries
Etihad's operating fleet now consists of 111 aircraft, up from 94 in July 2024. This includes aircraft under short-term ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) leases, and also freighter planes.
In July 2025 alone, the airline added five new aircraft, marking it as a record acquisition month. The additions included:
2 Boeing 787s
1 Airbus A350-1000
1 Airbus A320
1 Airbus A321LR — the airline's first of this variant
The induction of the A321LR is a significant step in Etihad's fleet strategy, expanding range and efficiency in medium-haul operations. These new aircraft support the airline's ongoing effort to enhance capacity and modernize its fleet while maintaining operational efficiency.
Network expansion and destination growth
Etihad has also continued to expand its global reach. As of July 2025, the airline now operates flights to 81 passenger destinations, up from 76 a year ago. The additional five destinations are a result of Etihad's active network development strategy, which aligns with its growing fleet size and market demand.
This increase in destination count supports the overall upward trend in passenger numbers, offering more travel options across key markets in the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and beyond.

What is 'WhatsApp Screen Mirroring Fraud' that can empty your bank account in few seconds and simple tips to protect yourself from it
Scammers use sophisticated trick called WhatsApp Screen Mirroring Fraud to steal money and personal information. This scam, which OneCard recently warned its customers about, is dangerous because it can give criminals direct access to your phone and all of your private data. Other than OneCard, all other public and private sector banks too have warned about this scam on numerous occasions. How WhatsApp Screen Mirroring Scam Works The fraud starts with a scammer pretending to be an employee from a trusted company, like a bank. They'll call you and claim there's a problem with your account, creating a sense of urgency. Gaining Your Trust: The fraudster convinces you to resolve the fake "problem" by sharing your phone's screen with them. They'll tell you that this is the only way to "fix" the issue. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like This Could Be the Best Time to Trade Gold in 5 Years IC Markets Learn More Undo Initiating the Theft: The scammer will then guide you through the process of turning on screen-sharing or remote access on your phone. To make it seem legitimate, they'll ask you to start a WhatsApp video call so they can see your screen "better." Stealing Your Information: Once you're on the video call and screen-sharing, they can see everything you do on your phone in real time. They might ask you to open your banking app to "verify" something. The moment you enter your password, PIN, or an OTP, they can see it and steal it. In some cases, fraudsters might also trick you into installing a malicious app that contains a keylogger. This is a type of software that records everything you type on your phone's keyboard, including passwords for your banking apps, social media, and more. Once they have this information, they can take over your accounts and drain your funds. What Experts Say Fortunately, most banking apps in India have adequate protection from these type of frauds. Tarun Wig, Co-Founder and CEO, Innefu Labs, told Economic Tmes, "Most of the top banking apps in India do have security features like secure screen overlays, screen capture lockdown and session timeout capabilities. But the efficacy of these protection measures can differ considerably between platforms." "While certain apps prevent screen sharing or screen recording directly, others might lack strong controls especially on rooted or compromised devices. Additionally, if customers inadvertently provide screen-sharing permissions, some third-party applications can bypass such security measures. It's an area where ongoing innovation and stronger app-level controls are necessary in order to remain ahead of changing fraud schemes." How to protect yourself from WhatsApp screen sharing fraud According to the advisory, here are some dos and don'ts that, if you follow them properly, can help you avoid falling victim to the WhatsApp screen sharing fraud : Things that are Must Dos to Protect Yourself * Verify the authenticity of callers claiming to be from banks or finance companies. * Enable screen-sharing only when absolutely necessary and do it only with trusted contacts. * If you use an Android phone, disable the 'App installations from unknown sources' setting. * Block suspicious numbers immediately and report them to or call 1930. Things you should Never Do * Avoid answering calls from unknown or suspicious numbers. * Never use financial apps (e.g. mobile banking, UPI apps, e-wallets) during screen-sharing. You can also call the cyber crime helpline at 1930 or go to How to protect yourself from social media and all other online frauds * If any unknown person claims that your near or dear ones are in trouble, always confirm by calling them directly on landline or on a different number. * Delete data and restore factory settings on phone while selling or discarding the phone. * Never send private information like bank account details, PINs or passwords through WhatsApp. * Never accept files or begin downloads from messages sent to you by strangers or unknown numbers. * Never respond to suspicious messages that come from unknown numbers. * WhatsApp as a service will never contact you through a WhatsApp message. Never trust any message that claims to come from WhatsApp and demands some payment for the service. * Some scams say they can connect your PC with WhatsApp and send messages from a desktop. Do not believe these, as this is not possible. * Keep automatic downloads disabled, so that you can always keep a check on what is being downloaded. * Avoid using WhatsApp when you are connected to open Wi-Fi networks. These are hunting grounds for malware authors and data sniffers.

Safari vehicles in R'bore granted 1-year extension
1 2 Jaipur: Forest department has granted a one-year extension to safari vehicles in Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve. According to the order, the field director must ensure that vehicles permitted for safaris are safe, suitable for tourism, and meet prescribed safari standards before allowing the extension. Officials said the model validity of these vehicles will expire in 2026, after which they will not be permitted for tourism operations. However, following requests from associations and the absence of practical alternatives, a temporary extension was provided. "Tourists prefer Gypsies due to their manoeuvrability and suitability for rugged terrain. With the extension, Gypsies will continue for one safari season starting Oct 1," an official said. Currently, 556 vehicles are registered for tourism at Ranthambhore, including 269 Gypsies and 287 Canters. The Ranthambhore Vehicle Safari Owners' Union earlier submitted a memorandum to the forest department seeking an extension. The challenge, however, lies in the fact that Gypsy manufacturing was discontinued in 2016. While diesel vehicles are available in the market, their higher emissions make them unsuitable for protected areas. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Officials said a petrol-based model was expected to emerge as an alternative, as petrol vehicles typically cause less pollution and are considered more compatible with eco-sensitive tourism. But no viable petrol option was developed, leaving both the department and safari operators without a substitute. Forest officials noted that a similar directive was earlier issued for replacing old Canters with newer models. Implementation was delayed due to the ongoing tourist season, but an extension was provided. With several companies offering Canters with improved technology and lower emissions, the department directed that alternatives be explored. Officials admit that unless a suitable petrol or eco-friendly vehicle is identified, both forest department and safari operators may face uncertainty when the validity of Gypsies ends in 2026.
