Assault suspect who jumped into Saint-Laurent River found by Montreal police
Montreal police (SPVM) say a man who jumped into the Saint-Laurent River early Saturday morning has been found.
SPVM officers responded to a 911 call around 4 a.m. reporting an assault on Saint-Helen's Island. When they arrived, a 26-year-old man — a suspect in the assault — fled on foot and jumped into the river.
Police searched the area with help from the canine unit and the Montreal fire department, which deployed a boat on the river.
At about 7:40 a.m., security agents on Saint-Helen's Island alerted police after finding a man on nearby Notre-Dame Island.
Police confirmed it was the same man and took him to a detention centre, where he is expected to meet with investigators.
A security perimeter remains in place.

Police arrest suspect accused of sexually assaulting three women at downtown Toronto parks
Faisal Muhammad, 50, is facing three counts of sexual assault. (Toronto police handout) Toronto police have arrested the suspect wanted in connection with three sexual assaults at downtown parks. Police were initially investigating two cases but in a news release on Wednesday, they confirmed that they've been notified of a third incident also involving the same suspect. It happened on the afternoon of July 11 at HTO Park in the area of Queens Quay West and Reese Street. Police said the suspect asked the victim to take his picture and shortly after, he introduced himself as a palm reader who could tell her fortune. The suspect took the victim to an isolated area, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her. Similar incidents occurred at Coronation Park on July 31 and at the Toronto Music Garden on June 27. Police said the suspect, identified as 50-year-old Faisal Muhammed of no fixed address, was arrested on Wednesday. He has been charged with three counts of sexual assault. They have released his image, as investigators believe there may be more victims. Boy taken to hospital following collision in Scarborough

Toronto police say a call came in shortly before 8:30 p.m. for a collision near Finch Avenue East and Birchmount Road. Toronto paramedics tell CTV News that they transported one pediatric patient in serious but non-life-threatening condition. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
