Look: Maroon 5 perform, discuss 'Love is Like' album on 'Today'
Aug. 1 (UPI) -- Maroon 5 performed on Today Friday, ahead of their eighth studio album's release Aug. 15.
Frontman Adam Levine and lead guitarist James Valentine also discussed the album, titled Love is Like, on the show.
"You said, Adam, recently that this album, Love is Like -- this one that's about to come out -- is deeply personal and you're going back to your roots. How so?" co-host Craig Melvin asked Levine.
"We came up in a time when like you didn't really have any outside help with writing songs," Levine said.
After a long time of collaborative work, this album represented an opportunity "just to come back to, 'Hey, you know, lemme see if we can do this again, and do this just with us and let's see if it still works.'"
The album will feature the previously released tracks "All Night," "California" and "Priceless" with Blackpink's Lisa.
Other songs include "Hideaway," "Love is Like" with Lil Wayne, "Yes I Did," "I Like It" with Sexyy Red, "Burn Burn Burn," "Jealousy Problems" and "My Love."

Here's a sneak peek at The BLVD! in West Sacramento
A new entertainment venue is about to open in West Sacramento, and we got a sneak peek. The BLVD! in West Sacramento is a new place to play, featuring 37,000 square feet of food and fun. It's an entertainment center featuring a bowling alley and modern-day arcade games. "We really feel like this is a place where people can come, stay for hours, have a great time," said Tami Thompson, The BLVD! director of sales and marketing. Suzette Gibson was among the very first people to try out the laser tag arena. "It was really great, a lot of exercise, a lot of running around, but beautiful," she said. It also features a live DJ, a bar and a restaurant. The bowling lanes also have a high-tech projection system called "Spark." "It animates your lane, it has all kinds of killer graphics and it's just a really cool experience," Thompson said. The BLVD! is located along West Capitol Avenue in the old Safeway building that's been vacant since 2018. They plan on hiring more than 100 employees. West Sacramento Mayor Martha Guerrero says it's a great addition to the community. "I'm incredibly impressed at all the entertainment activities they have here for both children and adults," Guerrero said. This is only the company's second location. So why did they pick West Sacramento? "We see a lot of industry coming in, a lot of buildings coming in and we wanted to be a part of the expansion," Thompson said. The new business has drawn some criticism for having a dress code that bans torn or baggy clothes and large chains. "We want to make sure that people want to come here and have a good time with their family, and we want to make sure people feel safe," Thompson said. But many West Sacramento residents say getting this type of venue is long overdue. "It's good to have some type of entertainment where we don't have to leave the area, and it's right here in our neighborhood," Gibson said. The BLVD! opens its doors to the public on Friday. Bowling costs between $30 and $55 an hour, depending on the time of day.

One of San Francisco's "Painted Ladies" open as museum for fnnch's honey bear art
Art and history enthusiasts are being offered a rare chance to see inside one of San Francisco's iconic "Painted Ladies" across from Alamo Square. The interior of the "Pink Lady" has been transformed into a temporary art museum showcasing the work of its owner, San Francisco street artist fnnch. "The way we think about it is, we are just inviting you into our home, to see an art collection," fnnch said. The conversion into an art gallery marks a new chapter for both the artist and the historic home. fnnch explained the property's journey after he and his wife bought it in 2020. "My wife and I attempted to remodel that house for our family, and we spent two years trying to get permits and were unable to. So, we put the house on the market, thought it was a bad time, 2022. So, we took it off the market, and it sat empty ever since." Now, the house is far from empty. The exhibit features all 116 Honey Bear paintings from across fnnch's career, giving visitors a rare opportunity to step inside a Painted Lady. Speaking at his San Francisco studio, fnnch described the inspiration behind the now-famous Honey Bear. "To me, the honey bear is positive, nostalgic, and inclusive, so it's something positive for people to enjoy, and it hearkens back to a childhood where you want sugar, frankly. But it's got like positive vibes. And it's inclusive because it doesn't require a lot of cultural knowledge. You see it, you can understand it right away. You don't have to have, you know, studied art history to get what it means and to enjoy it," fnnch said. The free exhibit welcomes both locals and tourists. Luciana Hernandez, visiting from Mexico, said she was drawn by her love for fnnch's work and the home's "Full House" nostalgia. "Well, it's amazing as a tourist, it's fun to come here. Now they opened it up as a museum. So it's amazing to just come here, get inside, and now, you know, seeing all these little bears we have here that became so famous, it's amazing," Hernandez said. Despite the honey bears' playful appearance, they require painstaking, hand-crafted work. In addition to his creations on wood panels, fnnch's murals, many commissioned across the city, have become a recognizable symbol of San Francisco. However, not everyone embraces the artwork. Some critics argue that the honey bear has become commercialized and represents gentrification. fnnch, however, remains committed to the city he says he loves. "I still think SF is the best city in the world to live in. To me, it's really a culture of makers. You know, you're not judged here by what shoes you're wearing or what handbag you're holding. But, kind of like, what you're doing with your time," he said. Each honey bear reflects a different community or theme, and fnnch said his mission is simple: to spread joy through art. "To me, if like, you're having a bad day, and you see like a happy painting, maybe your day gets a little better. So, I say, life is hard enough without sad art. So, I'm just trying to bring some positivity. And I like seeing that myself, and I hope to do that with my own art for other people," he said. The exhibit combines positivity, artistry, and a rare glimpse inside one of San Francisco's most famous Victorian homes.

The Oscar-nominated actor, who's been a vocal critic of President Donald Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration, slammed Joe Rogan after the podcasting sensation shared criticism of the Trump administration's sweeping deportation efforts. In June, several demonstrations erupted across Los Angeles in response to a series of immigration raids. The federal invasions, carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, took place in parts of the city as part of a directive from President Trump to find immigrants living in the United States without legal status. "We were told there would be no, — well, there's two things that are insane," Rogan, 57, told guest and Replit CEO Amjad Masad on a July 2 episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience." "One is the targeting of migrant workers. Not cartel members, not gang members, not drug dealers. Just construction workers. Showing up in construction sites, raiding them. Gardeners. Like, really?"
