The IPL 2025 season, suspended due to security concerns, may resume after India's five-Test tour of England. The BCCI might use the window reserved for the Bangladesh tour.
The IPL 2025 season, which has been suspended mid-way due to security concerns, can reportedly resume after India's five-Test tour of England. According to a report in The Times of India, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) might be open to the possibility of using a window earlier reserved for the men's tour of Bangladesh and the 2025 Asia Cup to complete the remaining matches of the tournament.
The England Test series will begin on June 20, with the final Test to be held from July 31 to August 4. India is scheduled to tour Bangladesh between August 17 and 23 for three ODIs, though that tour was already under the scanner well before the ongoing tensions, due to strained relations between India and Bangladesh.
Twelve league matches and four knockout games are left to be played in the season.

India vs England 2025: Coach Brendon McCullum names THIS star cricketer as new 'leader' in team, he is Virat Kohli's teammate, his name is…
RCB all-rounder Jacob Bethell is getting ready to face India in five-match Test series. (Photo: IANS) England will begin five-match Test series against Team India for 'Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy' next week from June 20 onwards at Headingley in Leeds. The first Test will see the return of young all-rounder Jacob Bethell to the England Test team after missing the one-off Test against Zimbabwe last month. England head coach Brendon McCullum has dubbed Bethell as one of the 'leader' in the side which will be captained by all-rounder Ben Stokes. Bethell was bought for Rs 2.6 crore by IPL 2025 champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. He is only 21 years of age will be among players to watch as a new-look English squad begin their ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle 2025-27 against India, who are themselves transitioning from retirements of star cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma from Tests and Ravichandran Ashwin in international cricket. The RCB all-rounder impressed during the white-ball series against West Indies, scoring knocks of 82 and 17 in ODIs, while playing quickfire cameos of 23 not out, 26 and 36 not out during T20Is. He also picked two wickets in the ODI series and four in T20Is, sealing his reputation as a solid all-round package. In three Tests, Bethell is already averaging 52 with 3 fifties to his name including a best of 96. Jacob Bethell. En fuego 🔥 — England Cricket (@englandcricket) May 29, 2025 Speaking to Sky Sports, McCullum said about Bethell, 'Bethell has a good life in front of him. For a 21-year-old, he's got a real poise, and that allows him to go out there and be present and show off his flair and talent. 'The world is his oyster. He is already becoming a leader in the dressing room which is what you want,' he continued. The England head coach also said that the pair of Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett in the white-ball, reminds him of the opening pair of Zak Crawley and Duckett in Tests. 'We know how good Duckett is, but the power that Smith possesses is amazing. These guys are fearless, and if you add the craft, then you hope you end up with a rounded player,' he concluded. Jamie Smith played as an opener during the white-ball series against England, scoring 37, 0 and 64 in ODIs, while he played knocks of 38, 4 and 60 in T20Is. On the other hand, Duckett made scores of 58, 0 and 60 in ODIs while he had knocks of 1, 30 and 84 in T20Is. The series will take place from June to August, with matches at Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord's (London), Old Trafford (Manchester), and The Oval (London). Jamie Overton has been handed a surprise recall to England's squad for the first Test against India after his Surrey team-mate Gus Atkinson was ruled out with a hamstring strain injury. Jacob Bethell, who partnered Virat Kohli as opener in RCB in Phil Salt's absence, has returned to the squad, while Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse are both back after missing England's win over Zimbabwe with niggles. England's squad has changed significantly since their 4-1 series defeat in India last year.

Sachin Tendulkar Never Used ‘God', Virat Kohli Didn't Write ‘King': Fans Troll Shubman Gill For ‘Prince' Bat Sticker
Shubman Gill is all set to lead India in the upcoming Test series against England starting June 2025, but his captaincy debut is already making headlines—not for cricket, but for his bat sticker. Fans spotted the word 'Prince' written below the MRF Genius logo on his bat and began trolling the young star on social media. Carrying A Legendary Legacy Gill is the latest batter to sign a bat sponsorship deal with MRF, a brand that has been associated with cricketing greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, AB de Villiers, and Virat Kohli. These icons proudly carried the Genius sticker on their bats but never added any personal nickname. So when Gill's bat was seen carrying the word "Prince" along with "MRF Genius", many fans felt it was too bold, especially before proving himself fully in Test cricket. Why 'Prince' Is Causing A Stir The Overhyped "Prince" of Indian Cricket Shubman Gill is so self-obsessed. Who even called you the Prince? A so-called 'Prince of ICT with a poor SENA record, a below 35 Test average, and zero overseas centuries across all formats after 5 years in his international career. — Niik (@Niiki099) June 11, 2025 The nickname 'Prince' was originally linked to Brian Lara, one of the greatest batters of all time. Over time, fans also started calling Gill 'Prince' as a sign of admiration and expectations. However, critics say that adding it to his bat sticker was a step too far. Fans pointed out that Tendulkar never used 'God' and Kohli never had 'King' written on their bats despite being globally known by those titles. Sachin Tendulkar never played with a bat that had "God" written over it and Virat Kohli never played with a bat that had "King" written over it. You get tags with your performances and the tags are given by the greats of the game and not from the social media. (@CricCrazyV) June 11, 2025 Not a New Addition, But Now Under Spotlight Interestingly, the word 'Prince' first appeared on Gill's bat during the IPL 2025 season, but it went largely unnoticed. It came into the spotlight recently after the BCCI released official team photos ahead of the England series. Fans zoomed in and spotted the sticker, triggering online discussions and mixed reactions. Despite the online trolling, Gill seems focused on the job. In his first address as captain, he encouraged his teammates to take every practice session seriously. "Let us play every ball with purpose... It's not about surviving but about discovering our game under pressure," Gill said. His calm and determined words suggest that he's aiming to make a strong start to his captaincy era. MRF, in its statement earlier this year, praised Gill as the right man to carry forward the legacy of batting excellence. "With legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Brian Lara having graced the iconic MRF bat, Shubman Gill now carries forward this tradition," the brand said. Upcoming England Series Big Test For Shubhman Gill The upcoming five-match Test series against England will be played from June to August 2025 at Headingley (Leeds), Edgbaston (Birmingham), Lord's, The Oval (London), and Old Trafford (Manchester). It will be a huge opportunity for Gill to prove his leadership skills and silence the critics.
