MUSCAT, April 8: The Kuwait paragliding team clinched the bronze medal in the team precision takeoff and landing category at the 3rd Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Beach Games, held in Muscat, Oman. The team earned a total of 3,925 points, following a competitive showing by the Omani team, which won gold, and the UAE team, which secured silver.
The bronze medal was secured by athletes Ahmed Al-Mas, Talal Al-Mutawa, Ibrahim Al-Rashoud, and Mohammed Al-Dosari, who competed fiercely over two days of challenges at North Hail Beach.
Ahmed Al-Shallahi, Chairman of the Kuwait Air Sports Club, praised the team's performance, emphasizing the importance of participating in regional and international events to enhance players' technical skills and sporting experience. He also highlighted how such Gulf tournaments help promote unity and cooperation among GCC nations while developing beach sports to meet global standards.
The paragliding team began its campaign last Saturday, competing in six total rounds—three on each day—before ultimately securing its place on the podium.
Meanwhile, the Kuwait sailing team continued its participation in the tournament for the fourth straight day at Al-Moj Marina in North Hail, taking part in various categories, including ILCA 6 (youth and girls), ILCA 7 (youth), and the Optimist competition, along with the "Ebtesmat" class for children.
Earlier in the tournament, the Kuwait sailing team also brought home a bronze medal in the Optimist team race. The quartet of Ali Enki, Hamad Al-Masoud, Bader Bu Hamad, and Abdulaziz Al-Mansour claimed third place, marking Kuwait's first medal in this year's competition.

KUWAIT CITY, June 9: Kuwait's under-16 basketball team is set to begin an indoor training camp tomorrow as part of its preparations for the upcoming Gulf Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the Asian Cup Finals scheduled to take place in Bahrain from July 7 to 12. The camp will feature 14 promising players, with the coaching staff, led by national team coach Talal Al-Qallaf, expected to select 12 of them to participate in the external camp in Cairo from June 21 to July 5. Ghazi Al-Otaibi, Treasurer of the Kuwait Basketball Association and Head of the National Team Delegation, explained that the team's preparation program has been in place for some time, beginning with a training camp in Istanbul last January. He emphasized the need for specialized physical conditioning due to the players' recent absence from training while they focused on school exams. Al-Otaibi added that during the Cairo camp, the Blues will play six friendly matches, including one against the Egyptian youth team. He stressed that the national team is determined to compete for top positions in the Gulf Championship, especially given Kuwait's consistent podium finishes in recent years at regional tournaments.
