Dog bite to blame for former Barcelona player missing a game in Greece
The 27-year-old Perez is on loan at Aris, which hosted Azerbaijani club Araz-Naxçıvan in a qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League.
Two days earlier, Perez was out for a walk with his dog when there was an incident with a second dog.
'I had the misfortune of suffering a bite on the inside of my leg while trying to separate my dog from another dog during a minor and unexpected incident,' Perez, on loan from Celta Vigo, wrote on Instagram.
'The wound required stitches, which, although not serious, prevents me from being in optimal condition to compete tonight.'
Perez wrote that he was 'very sorry' he can't be on the field.
He added that he was 'recovering at home" and expected to be back with the team in a couple of days.
Thursday's game ended in a 2-2 draw. Araz-Naxçıvan had won the first leg 2-1, so it advanced on a 4-3 aggregate score.
Perez rose through Barcelona's youth system and made his La Liga debut in 2019. He later transferred to Roma and then Celta.

He scored 15 goals in his first season in England and 18 in the second but got just seven in 47 appearances in all competitions last year as Arne Slot preferred to use either the late Diogo Jota or Luis Diaz as his centre-forward. Liverpool rejected Nunez's request to leave in mid-season, wanting to keep him to help their successful bid to win a 20th league title. Should he go now leave, Liverpool will have brought in around £190m for players this summer, following Tyler Morton's move to Lyon for £15m.

DISNEY PLUS have agreed a deal to show live LaLiga matches for the next three seasons. The streaming platform has secured rights to show the 8:30pm kick-off each weekend in the UK and Ireland. 2 2 Disney 's new deal will give viewers a chance to watch the likes of Jude Bellingham, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe for just £4.99 per month. Former Real Madrid and England star Steve McManaman has been confirmed as Disney's primary co-commentator, while ex-Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson will also be involved in coverage. Commentary will be provided by either Ian Darke or Rob Palmer. The Walt Disney Company owns US sports powerhouse ESPN. This could pave the way for more live sport to find its way onto Disney+, which has already shown Formula 1 races in the United States. Upon sealing the deal, LaLiga chief Javier Tebas said: "Today begins a new era in LaLiga's broadcast distribution in the UK and Ireland.
