Taylor Swift is in her podcaster era.
The pop superstar made her highly anticipated debut as a guest on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's "New Heights" podcast on Wednesday, Aug. 13. As the episode began, her website updated with an album cover and release date of Oct. 3.
"The Life of a Showgirl" cover shows Swift underwater in a bedazzled top. Four variants are available for preorder. They are:
Travis Kelce and his brother, Jason Kelce, have hosted the "New Heights" podcast since 2022, but this was the first time Swift has been a guest on the show since she and Travis began their highly publicized romance in 2023.
Swift chose Kelce's podcast as a platform to reveal her next album and usher in a new era, rather than do so on her own social media channels or at a live event. The singer has been strategic about when and where she reveals new music in the past, and she announced her most recent album, "The Tortured Poets Department," on stage at the 2024 Grammy Awards. Before that, Swift revealed her 2022 album "Midnights" in a speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.

Swift's fans had been eagerly anticipating the start of her next era after the singer wrapped her wildly popular Eras Tour in December. Her previous album, "The Tortured Poets Department," dropped in April 2024 to critical acclaim and a Grammy nomination for album of the year.
Taylor Swift album comes after music catalog ownership announcement
"The Life of a Showgirl" will be Swift's first time releasing new music since she became the owner of her entire catalog. In May, she revealed she gained ownership of all her old albums following a dispute with former music manager Scooter Braun.
"All of the music I've ever made now belongs to me," she said at the time.
Taylor Swift announces new album: What to know about 'The Life of a Showgirl'
Before this, Swift had been in the process of rerecording her first six albums so that she would own all of her music. Swift's self-titled 2006 debut album and her 2017 album "Reputation" were the only ones that had not yet been rereleased.
In her May announcement, the pop star told fans that she had already rerecorded "Taylor Swift" and may still put it out. She also said she had not yet finished rerecording "Reputation" but still planned to release previously unheard "vault" tracks from that original album.
"Those 2 albums can still have their moments to re-emerge when the time is right, if that would be something you guys would be excited about," she wrote in a letter to fans. "But if it happens, it won't be from a place of sadness and longing for what I wish I could have. It will just be a celebration now."

Chiefs in their Taylor Swift era: Owner says majority of fans are women

Who knew that the beginning of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour would kick off another new era in a totally different part of American culture? Since she made her first appearance at a Kansas City Chiefs game nearly two years ago, the team has been reaping the benefits of its own Taylor Swift era. Chiefs principal owner Clark Hunt joined the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Aug. 15, and spoke on the effects that Swift's relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have had on the team. "It's been a whirlwind for the organization over the last two years since Taylor literally stepped into our lives," Hunt said. "She's done an amazing job, unintentionally, of increasing our female fanbase. We used to be about a 50/50 ratio, male to female fanbase, and now 57% of our fans are female, which I think is probably the highest in the National Football League. "So there's absolutely been a Taylor Swift effect." HOW TRAVIS KELCE MET TAYLOR SWIFT: Friendship bracelets and 'Cupid' The Chiefs' Swiftie era can trace its roots back to the pop superstar's concert at Arrowhead Stadium in July 2023, with two concerts making up one of the earliest stops on her 149-show Eras Tour. Weeks after the tour stop in Kansas City, Kelce lamented on his and his brother's "New Heights" podcast that he wasn't able to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it. Roughly two months later, Swift was spotted on the broadcast cheering on Kelce from a suite at her first Chiefs game. (Hunt said Friday she insisted on getting a "normal fan" experience at that first game with no additional security – "she literally walked through the front door," he said. With fans largely expecting her to attend the Chiefs' home games, she has received heightened security from the team in the time since.) NANCY ARMOUR: Keep whining, insecure men. Taylor Swift isn't even thinking about you. According to analysis by marketing firm Apex Marketing, from September 2023 – when Swift attended that first game – through this past February – the date of the most recent Super Bowl – Swift brought in nearly $1 billion worth of publicity to the NFL. Swift's connection to the Chiefs means that Kansas City has undoubtedly gotten one of the largest pieces of that metaphorical pie – and the demographic shift that Hunt pointed out Friday certainly suggests that. To that end, Kelce's jersey sales spiked 400% overnight after Swift's first appearance at a Chiefs game, according to Fanatics, and Kelce, Swift and the Chiefs have not looked back in the time since that first outing. The singer has attended 23 Chiefs games – including five playoff games and two Super Bowls – since the two began their relationship. On Wednesday, Swift made her first-ever podcast appearance on "New Heights" and spoke about her relationship with Kelce and her experience as a new Chiefs fan. The episode had a record-setting 1.3 million concurrent viewers during its YouTube premiere and now has 15 million views (and counting) on the video streaming site as of Friday afternoon.

The role reversal in caring for parents is 'wild.' Taylor Swift knows it all too well.

When Taylor Swift's father, Scott Swift, underwent a quintuple bypass surgery this summer, he said what many dads in his situation might say to their kids: "You guys are busy... don't come." But the pop star knew better. She was there with her mom and brother when her dad woke up from his procedure, and stayed with him as he recovered. "We just all moved in with him for the whole summer, pretty much," Swift said, adding that he needed help walking around. "He was, like, the loveliest patient ever. He just kept saying, 'thank you' over and over again." Swift opened up about her father's surgery, and her role as one of his caregivers, during her appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's podcast, "New Heights," which he co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce. During the interview, which has garnered more than 15 million views on YouTube since it streamed on Aug. 13, Swift also talked about her life during the Eras Tour, falling for Travis Kelce, her approach to social media, her new sourdough making obsession and she announced her next album, "The Life of a Showgirl." Swift said she, her brother Austin Swift and her mother Andrea Swift took shifts caring for her dad as he recovered from surgery, and said he's now "doing incredibly well." Sharing details about her dad's health was a rare moment for Swift, who tends to not discuss her family's personal lives. Swift's caregiving story is also significant in the care world, where advocates are always trying to spread awareness about the struggles of caregivers, who now make up nearly 25% of the American adult population, according to a recent report from the AARP and the National Alliance for Caregiving. Other celebrities have recently come forward to tell their own caregiving stories, including Academy Award-nominated actor Bradley Cooper and Emmy Award-winning actress Uzo Aduba. "It is a reminder that everyone has a care concern," said Jocelyn Frye, president of the National Partnership for Women & Families. "Everyone wants their mom or their dad, their spouse, their child, their family member to be cared for. Having high profile people who presumably have access to resources talk about their struggles also is a reminder that these issues are hard for everyone." Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan, AARP's CEO, said the organization hears every day from family caregivers who are managing medications, coordinating appointments, bathing loved ones, navigating insurance claims and "doing it all while working, raising children, and trying to stay afloat financially and emotionally." "Taylor Swift's openness about caring for her father shines a light on what 63 million Americans are experiencing right now," Minter-Jordan said. "Perhaps most heartbreaking, nearly a quarter of caregivers say they feel completely alone. When public figures like Taylor share their caregiving journey, it helps break that isolation, validates caregivers' experiences, and underscores why we must build systems that see them, value them, and support them.' 'Parent-child reversal' Swift said her father's five heart blockages were detected in a resting stress test, not in his yearly EKG. "He's been telling all his friends, 'You need to get the stress test,'" Swift said. "Because that's what's actually preventative." Once the blockages were found, Swift said, "it all happened really quick." "It was kind of wild, because it was, like... it was very parent-child reversal," Swift said. She recalled fighting with her parents as a teenager when she would sneak her cell phone into her room at night to talk to friends. When her dad was recovering, she said, Swift and her brother had to monitor their dad's cell phone use. "I'm having these moments where I'm like, this dude built play sets and swing sets and cribs for me. I'm building his shower chair and his walker and his bed," she said. "It's just surreal, man." Swift mentioned her mother recently got a new knee, too, and "is doing great." "This was just, like, the summer of my parental upgrades," Swift joked. "We're just upgrading the parents, making sure that they live to be at least 186 years old. Because they're two of my best friends." Caring for her parents, Swift said, was "actually one of the most special things that's ever happened to me." "Spending all that time with them this summer," Swift said. "You have those long talks that you don't have when it's, like, a small, concentrated period of time." Travis Kelce Hit With Reality Check From NFL Players After Taylor Swift News

Travis Kelce Hit With Reality Check From NFL Players After Taylor Swift News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is entering his 13th year in the NFL, still chasing that fourth Super Bowl ring after last season's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Ahead of the Chiefs' second preseason game, Kelce revealed some news that many had been waiting for, bringing his girlfriend, singer Taylor Swift, onto his "New Heights" podcast. Not only did Swift join the show, but she also announced her 12th studio album called "The Life of a Showgirl," which is expected to be released later this month. But, despite the good news for Swift, Kelce received an unfortunate update himself. The NFL has been releasing its Top 100 Players of 2025 list over the past few weeks, which is voted on by players. On Tuesday, the league announced that Kelce has been named the 37th-best player in the NFL, as voted by his peers. Kelce took a big hit in the rankings, falling from No. 9 last season to No. 37, a 28-spot drop. Still, San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle was one of the spokespersons for Kelce's new ranking and had nothing but positive things to say. "Watching Travis talk about football is one of the most unique experiences ever," Kittle said. "It doesn't matter what coverage you're in, he just finds a way to get open... And like the relationship and the chemistry that him and (Patrick) Mahomes have, I don't think there's anything else like it in the NFL." Even New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston gave his two cents on Kelce and Mahomes. "Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce gotta be like (Michael) Jordan and Scottie (Pippen)," Winston added. "I don't know another combination like that. Like literally, I don't think there's ever been a combination as good as those." In the 2024 season, Kelce had one of the worst statistical outputs of his career, despite making a 10th straight Pro Bowl. He tallied 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns, the last two categories the lowest since his rookie season. That could explain the 35-year-old's story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Aug 12, 2025, where it first appeared.
