CM Stalin meets DMK workers; membership drive to begin on June 20
On the first day of the party initiative titled 'Udanpirappe Vaa', Stalin interacted with functionaries from Chidambaram, Villupuram, and Usilampatti constituencies at Anna Arivalayam on Friday. The meetings, which began at 10.30 am, lasted for about three hours. In a post on X, Stalin wrote, 'To reach out to the people with the achievements of the government, to defeat those who are desperate to bring down Tamil Nadu, and to boost the party's robust structure - Udanpirappe Vaa.'
District secretaries were not part of these sessions. Instead, Stalin met them separately. The panel accompanying the CM during the interactions included RS Bharathi, spokesperson TKS Elangovan, joint organisation secretary Anbagam Kalai, and deputy organisation secretaries S Austin and Thayagam Kavi.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Sunday alleged DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin had 'knelt' before the BJP to protect the interests of his family and assets. In a statement, Mr. Palaniswami said Mr Stalin, who is heading a 'failure model' government had accused the AIADMK was a slave to the BJP, which has been leading an 'efficient government' in the Centre. 'Mr. Stalin, have you forgotten not just the people of Tamil Nadu but your own partymen, saw you kneeling and warming up to the BJP to protect your family and the assets you looted?' he posed. Alleging the DMK government was making hollow promises, he said the AIADMK had to come down to the streets and meet the people there. 'Let us see if you would realise the state of affairs of your government at least by then.' The former CM said he has travelled for about 3,200 km under his 'Makkalai Kaappom, Thamizhagathai Meetpom' campaign. Those he met flagged the issues of rising taxes, drinking water scarcity, issues facing the MSME sector, lack of programmes for the welfare of farmers and students communities, among others. Mr. Palaniswami also recalled having met a Christian priest in Thoothukudi, who shared his apprehensions over the circulation of banned drugs among students. He also called upon his partymen to collect list of public grievances and submit them in the party head office.

Daily struggle with the Modi regime to protect State's rights in 4-yr DMK rule: Stalin
Chennai, Aug 3 (UNI) Launching a scathing attack at the Centre which has been denying due rights to the state, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin today said it has been a daily struggle for his government with an adversarial BJP-led Union Government in the last four years to protect the legitimate rights of Tamil Nadu. 'With the previous AIADMK government having signed on a charter of slavery for the entry of NEET (entrance test for UG MBBS admissions), UDAY electricity scheme, hiking property taxes, Tamil Nadu has been facing severe economic consequences,' Stalin said in an epistle to the party cadre ahead of the death anniversary of DMK Patriarch and his father M Karunanidhi. To protect the rights of the state the DMK government has been using the floor of Parliament to raise these issues besides waging a legal battle in the courts, he added. 'While Sanskrit received financial largesse, it is a pittance for Tamil, recognized first as a classical language, from the anti-Tamil Union Government, which is bent upon imposing Hindi through the New Educational Policy (NEP 2020) which will result in the extinction of regional languages. The NEP will bring back caste-based education by denying opportunities to the marginalized and backward communities. Further, it is attempting to impose the hegemonic Aryan culture and is refusing to publish the scientifically validated Keeladi excavation, which establishes the antiquity of Tamil culture,' he said. 'At a time when Governors are being used to murder democracy in states where the BJP could not come to power, the Tamil Nadu Government's legal battle in the Supreme Court has established the supremacy of elected state governments. This has helped instill confidence in democracy not only for Tamil Nadu but for all states,' he said and blamed the principal opposition AIADMK in Tamil Nadu for teaming up with the BJP instead of strengthening the struggle. 'By aligning with the BJP, which is discriminating against the state, the AIADMK is committing a grave betrayal, leaving the AIADMK cadres themselves aghast,' he added. Now, Delhi Assembly runs solely on sunlight, first in the country
The Delhi Legislative Assembly on Sunday became the first legislature in the country to be powered entirely by solar energy, following the commissioning of a 500-kilowatt rooftop solar power plant. Alongside this, the Assembly launched the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), marking a shift towards paperless legislative functioning. The two initiatives were inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, who called the Assembly's transition a model for sustainable and digital governance. 'This is not just an infrastructure upgrade, but a shift in institutional values,' he said, adding that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will provide all possible assistance to the efforts and initiatives of the Delhi Legislative Assembly in this regard. Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta emphasised that the solarisation of the Assembly is a cornerstone in a broader institutional shift towards sustainable and digital transformation. 'The present Assembly building was constructed in 1912 and was home to the country's first Parliament,' Gupta said. Highlighting the balance between tradition and progress, he remarked, 'Virasat aur Vikaas saath chalega (Legacy and development go together).' Gupta added that the solar power plant, installed on the rooftop, is expected to reduce the Assembly's monthly electricity bill by around Rs 15 lakh, or approximately Rs 1.75 crore annually. The savings, he said, would be redirected to developmental work. It will also potentially generate surplus electricity through net metering. The NeVA platform, developed under the Centre's 'One Nation, One Application' initiative, will be fully implemented from the upcoming Monsoon Session. A successful trial run was conducted with MLAs ahead of the inauguration. The trial offered firsthand experience of the digital interface, which includes smart delegate units with microphones and voting panels, RFID/NFC access, multilingual support, real-time document access via iPads, an automated AV system with HD cameras, and a secure, power-backed networking environment. The House will also see the introduction of the Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Bill, 2025, by Education Minister Ashish Sood. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is also scheduled to table the Finance and Appropriation Accounts for 2023-24, which will present the financial position of the national capital. Gupta will also present two audit reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG): one on state finances for 2023-24 and a separate report on the welfare of building and construction workers in 2022-23. Sood, who also holds the Power portfolio, will also lay the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission's annual accounts and a notification on Green Energy Open Access regulations.
