Jacob Bethell inspired by Ben Stokes after being named youngest England captain
Bethell will break the existing record for an England captain, held by Monty Bowden, who was 23 years and 144 days old when he led a Test team against South Africa at Cape Town in 1888-89, and the Barbados-born all-rounder admits he does not have to look for inspiration in the role.

'The big thing I've noticed with Stokesy is he leads with actions,' Bethell said on Sky Sports about England's Test captain.
'He's always the guy who takes the precedents and takes the situation on himself. I'll be looking to do that as much as possible.
'Obviously he does that in a bit of a different way with bowling fast and stuff like that.
'I'll be trying to do that with bat and ball and in the field as much as possible. The biggest thing is trying to lead by example.'
Bethell has received the opportunity as Harry Brook takes a breather following the ODI and T20 series against South Africa from September 2-14, the squads for which were also announced on Friday.

Assistant Marcus Trescothick will step up as head coach in Ireland, with Brendon McCullum not making the trip, reprising the role he had in England's white-ball tour of the Caribbean last winter.
'Finding out, the first emotion is pride,' Bethell said of his appointment.
'Captaining England is going to be an honour and I can't wait to do it.
'It will be a good challenge, I'm looking forward to it. I've done quite a lot of captaincy growing up in terms of Under 19s and age grade things.
'It will be different captaining England obviously, but I like to think I read the game pretty well.
'I'll be looking to take what I do with my own game and just apply that to the captaincy.
'We had a great series against West Indies at the start of the summer with Brooky as captain and I enjoyed every minute of that.
'A 6-0 whitewash was kind of unbelievable. South Africa are coming here now and we're looking to perform there as well.'
All-format quartet Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith, Jofra Archer and Brydon Carse have also been taken out of the firing line against Ireland, giving them a rest in preparation for this winter's blockbuster Ashes.
Fast bowling duo Mark Wood and Gus Atkinson are not in any of the three squads as they start focusing on this winter's tour to Australia, which gets under way on November 21 in Perth.

Wood had knee surgery in March and missed the entirety of the Test series against India. It was hoped he would play some part against South Africa or Ireland but his competitive comeback may now not be until England's white-ball trip to New Zealand in October and November, just before the Ashes.
Uncapped fast bowler Sonny Baker has been rewarded for a string of encouraging showings in the past 12 months, included in the ODI squad to face the Proteas and in the group to face Ireland.
National selector Luke Wright said: 'The series against Ireland will provide him with the opportunity to further develop those skills on the international stage.
'He has carried that form into this season in white-ball cricket with Hampshire and Manchester Originals and deservedly gets his opportunity.'

Is Rooney the next Lineker? He was more articulate than I expected on Match of the Day
On the face of it, it should not be a problem. One person leaves Match of the Day and is replaced by another. But when the person leaving is Gary Lineker, it all becomes a bit more difficult. Remember, he has been the man in situ for about a quarter of a century. He won the golden boot at a World Cup and never got booked, despite spending much of his playing career in that jungle of the opposition penalty area. So his footballing experience and knowledge was second to none. All right, he got up his employers' noses a few times recently which has resulted in him leaving the BBC before next summer's World Cup. Who to replace him? Well, with seemingly no one obvious candidate, you hedge your bets and hire three. Mark Chapman, very experienced; Gabby Logan, who covers a wide range of sports in exemplary fashion, and Kelly Cates, who has been presenting at Sky Sports for a number of years. But here comes the complicated bit: which of them does what? Chapman presented Match of the Day on Saturday night but not before the evening's Sky football presentation by Cates. Cates had already made her BBC bow earlier in the week by presenting the Uefa Super Cup highlights between Paris St-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night. Then it was all change on Sunday, as Logan presented the weekend's second helping of Match of the Day, which has replaced what we used to know as Match of the Day 2. One week in and we already have our first look at each of the three new presenters that will frequent our screens this season. As I understand it, there will be no absolute hierarchy among the three, but each will work across the channels as and when required. This is in marked contrast to when broadcasters were immensely protective of their talent and prevented them from working for other channels. It was a completely different scenario when I left Match of the Day. ITV had taken the Premier League away from the BBC and so there were no Match of the Day highlights to worry about until it regained the broadcast rights for the 2004-05 season. This situation, and the new set-up, is so different from anything the BBC has done before, so watching how it evolves this season will be fascinating. Among several things to note about the first Match of the Day, Wayne Rooney was alongside Alan Shearer on the pundits' bench. Match of the Day may have lost one former England great who scored 48 goals for his country, but it appears to have gained another who not only scored 53 goals himself, but also captained the Three Lions. It would seem that Rooney is being groomed for more appearances and he is surprisingly more articulate than one might expect. Maybe he will move into the presenter's seat like Lineker did, but he will have to shake off the reputation of his unsuccessful period in management.

The United keeper was unable to deal with a first-half corner under pressure from William Saliba and Riccardo Calafiori nodded in on the line at the far post for what proved to be the only goal. Former United midfielder Keane had no sympathy for the Turk, who appealed for a foul, with the Sky Sports pundit saying: 'He has to come with violence, he's got to be aggressive, he's got to be almost saying to players, 'Come in here, I'm happy to deal with it'. "Micah, this is big boy stuff!" I agree with Roy, Bayindir should have done a lot better, but when you've got bodies in front of you…' That prompted Keane to interject, with the pair raising their voices to the apparent amusement of fellow pundit Daniel Sturridge. 'The goalkeeper's on his heels, he should be on his toes. Saliba's doing very little to him,' retorted Keane. 'The job of that player in that role is to protect the goalkeeper so he can come and punch it,' hit back Richards. 'There's a lot of chaos going on.' Keane had the final word, adding: 'This is big boy stuff. You can't babysit a goalkeeper. He should go and play chess.' United dominated the chances but were unable to find an equaliser, and Keane did not share in optimism around the Red Devils' start to the campaign.
