She revealed her battle with 'deep deep depression,' saying 'I was in the trenches', and how she took time off before then deciding that she wanted to quit.
Clara, 41, said: 'The start of 2023, I was in the flipping trenches.
'I was burnt out, I wasn't taking care of myself properly and I think I was a bit overwhelmed by life's injustices. I just wasn't feeling great and I was in a bit of a negative headspace.'
She continued: 'I was feeling really, really depressed sort of mid 2023 and I took some time off radio, and just had to have a little reset. That is when I decided I was going to leave my show.'
In her interview with Fearne Cotton on the podcast, she also spoke about the pressure to 'get the next viral clip' while working on the show.
Clara said: 'I had mixed reactions. Obviously are bosses, who are lovely, were like 'but why.'
'I'm one of these people where I am so passionate about what I do that I never want to resent anything, I don't want anything to feel like it's forced or a chore.
'And I want to be able to listen to music always as a fan, rather than as a business, and I want to be able to talk to people on a human level without thinking 'got to get that viral interview clip.''
Clara quit Radio 1 in 2023, and said at the time: "I'm so proud of the work I've been able to do on every show, whether it's been from the 8th floor, a city in the UK or a pop star's house across the pond.

"I'm grateful to have had the ears of the listeners who have consistently shown up for me. I'm enamoured by everyone I've had the privilege of working alongside for each and every broadcast."
She continued: "I'm energised and excited for my next chapter as part of the network and beyond."
During her time helming the show, she has helped elevate new artists through her "hottest record" feature.
Amfo previously hosted Radio 1's Live Lounge, The Official Chart on Radio 1, and her 1Xtra programme.

The show originally aired on Alibi before coming to the Beeb. But will there be a third season of the show? The latest season of Annika is set to continue this weekend but fans hoping for a third series have been dealt a massive blow. Viewers have been told that there are 'no current plans' for further episodes. Nicola Walker stars in the crime drama, having originally voiced the character in the BBC Radio 4 drama Annika Stranded. It fuses Nordic Noir with a Scottish setting to great effect. EastEnders star teases 'really disturbing' storyline for the Knight family

EastEnders star Colin Salmon, who plays George Knight on the BBC soap, has teased that a 'really disturbing' storyline is coming up for his Walford family Colin Salmon has teased that he has a 'really disturbing' storyline coming up on EastEnders, The actor, 63, plays George Knight on the BBC soap and while he cannot say much about what to come, he has promised that something is coming up that is 'perfect' viewers right now. ‌ Fans of the London-based soap will know that George was previously at the centre of a baby farming storyline, after he learned from his parents that they were actually paid to take him rather than adopt him of their own choosing, but he explained that something even more dramatic is on the cards. ‌ During an appearance on Friday's Good Morning Britain, he told hosts Rob Rinder and Charlotte Hawkins: "We've got another storyline you haven't seen before. I did the farming storyline, we have another storyline that is perfect for this time, it's real, it's really disturbing and it's coming. I can't tell you what it is." It comes after one EastEnders star was announced to be taking part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing. ‌ Colin, who is known starring in the James Bond franchise, and has also appeared on other TV staples like Doctor Who and Merlin over the course of his career, was introduced to Albert Square as George in 2023, and headed up the Knight family alongside son Junior (Micah Balfour), Anna (Molly Rainford) and Gina (Francesca Henry). He married Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe) but began an affair with ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins), which culminated in kicking off the Who Attacked Cindy? storyline last Christmas when she was attacked with a shovel. In making history for the soap, George became the first black landlord of the famed Queen Vic pub, and Colin insisted that while he has never tried explicitly to change things in terms of diversity, he has always faced things head on as he has tried to move forward within his career.. He added: "It was interesting because I'd been asked before and I'd known that family that life. If you see it, you can be it, it's a real simple thing. I've lived by life trying to be Avant-garde but not in an aggressive way or an antagonistic way, but just being myself in going forward without fear." Meanwhile, Colin is now reprising his role as as the Barber in Nobody 2, the sequel to the 2021 comedy, alongside Bob Odenkirk, and recalled arriving on the set to discover that his co-star is a fan of the show, and he told him about the workload that comes with making a continuing drama. He said: "When I arrived in Winnipeg I had to shoot all my scenes very quickly. And my manager in Hollywood said 'You can't do that!' I said 'Do you realise what I do for a day job? Once arriving on set, I was asked about EastEnders, and I said 'Oh we shoot a movie in a week, we shoot very quickly.'" ‌ For EastEnders fans, the storyline that Colin teased comes shortly after it was announced that his on-screen daughter Anna is to leave Walford for good. According to a source it was a mutual decision between actress Molly and soap bosses, following new Executive Producer Ben Wadey taking over the soap. It's claimed Molly is ready for new ventures, while details on Anna's exit remain under wraps for now. The BBC told us in June : "We can confirm that Molly Rainford will be leaving EastEnders later this year, and we wish her all the best for the future." Anna's biggest storylines have included her being spiked, being revealed as Cindy Beale's daughter, and her love triangle with Bobby Beale and Freddie Slater. ‌ A source confirmed the decision behind the exit, and said to The Sun: 'New boss Ben Wadey is making sweeping changes on the show and his decision coincided with Mollie deciding she wanted to pursue other challenges." They added: "New boss Ben Wadey is making sweeping changes on the show and his decision coincided with Molly deciding she wanted to pursue other challenges. "She's hugely talented and wants to spread her wings and see what else is out there for her." Molly's character Anna arrived in 2023 as part of the Knight family, with dad George, sister Gina and stepmother Elaine Peacock. They took over The Queen Vic, and soon it was revealed Anna was Cindy's secret daughter."

Bizarre Christmas attractions in the UK that you can visit NOW – from sleigh rides to a festive hotel room

WE are barely through summer and some locations are already looking to Christmas - including year-round spots. Cold winter days and merry jingles seem like a distant memory, but for some destinations across the UK, the holiday season has already arrived. 4 Chessington's Christmas room Missing your festive fix? Then stay at Chessington World of Adventures' year-round Christmas bedroom. Full of twinkling lights, garlands and even a perfectly decorated tree, Chessington's Christmas gets guests into the festive spirit no matter the time of year. There are Christmas mugs in the room as well, to have marshmallow-loaded hot chocolate in. While the room is all things Christmas you can switch seasons with a dip in the hotel's Savannah Splash Pool. The room starts from £77 per person, based on a family of four sharing. If you are feeling extra festive, you can arrange to have an Elf Wake-up Call or Reindeer Encounter too. Santa's Sleigh Ride, Sundown Adventureland Sundown Adventureland markets itself as "the theme park for the under 10s". And while the theme park does have numerous non-festive themed rides, it is also "Christmas every day at Sundown" as the attraction has a year-round sleigh ride. Santa's Magical Sleigh Ride travels through a winter wonderland and has appearances from a number of Santa's helpers like Mrs Claus, Rudolph and dancing snowmen. I visited Lapland's Santa Claus Village in the summer — turns out Santa's not just for Christmas Those on the ride are taken through several rooms, including a quirky house set up where you see woodland animals preparing for the big day cooking and wrapping presents. There is even a reindeer sat in bed and a toy store advent calendar, with doors opening and closing as visitors slide by in the sleigh. Harrods Christmas Store For many festive fans, shopping for Christmas decorations and presents is a day out activity. And some keen holiday lovers will head to specific destinations for this. One such location is the Harrods Christmas Store, which opened last month - yes, in July. Located near the books, Harrods' Christmas World features new decorations including highland cow baubles and jewelled peach decorations. 4 There is even a hair oil bauble full of pink glittering liquid. Several bloggers and vloggers have already headed to the store to document this year's offering, with one view having already racked up 114,000 views. And you can even purchase a nutcracker for £2,539... Bridmas, East Yorkshire The picturesque seaside town of Bridlington in East Yorkshire hosts an annual event called Bridmas. The Christmas-themed festival features a load of Christmas crafts, food, live music and even a panto dame - all in the peak of summer. The event aims to show that the town is more than just a summer staycation spot, and actually features year-round attractions. Bridmas only lasts for one day and includes showings of classic Christmas movies like Home Alone, a 'Santa Express' land train and festive-themed beach games. The event took place on August 6, so if you want to go - you will need to wait until next year. TUI launches day trips to Lapland for 2026 TUI has introduced a new 'extreme day trip' to Lapland for the winter of 2026. The trip, called "Search for Santa," allows families to fly to Kittila, Finland and return on the same day. Flights will be available from 11 UK airports, including Cardiff for the first time. The trip from Bournemouth airport is also returning for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic. On the flight to Lapland, a cooked English breakfast is served, and a Christmas dinner is served on the return flight. Upon arrival, families receive snowsuits and boots before heading to the Snow Village. Activities include reindeer and husky sleigh rides and learning to drive a snowmobile. The day also features a magical journey to meet Santa and his elves. Some Christmas attraction tickets are already selling out – here is how you can still book. Plus, The Sun headed to Lapland UK - here is what it is like. 4
