Boston Celtics sign Ron Harper Jr. to training camp deal

As we edge closer to the start of the 2025-26 NBA season, teams are starting to prepare for training camp and preseason. This is the point in the summer when players begin to sign Exhibit 10 contracts, in the hopes of either earning a spot on a roster or being given a chance in the G League. Ron Harper Jr. is the Boston Celtics' first Exhibit 10 addition this summer. Harper Jr. will be entering his fourth NBA season, having originally signed with the Toronto Raptors as a rookie. He also spent some time with the Maine Celtics this past season, and will now get an opportunity to make an impression on Joe Mazzulla and his coaching staff throughout the summer. In total, Harper Jr. made 27 G League appearances this past season, split between the Motor City Cruise and Maine Celtics, where he averaged 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists, shooting 39% from deep on 8.9 attempts per outing. As the Celtics already have their two-way spots filled courtesy of Amari Williams, Max Shulga and RJ Luis, Harper Jr. will either make the main roster as the 15th and final member of the roster, or join the Maine Celtics in the hope of triggering a bonus should he stay with the team for 60 days. Of course, right now, his only focus will be on making a strong impression and working to improve his game. Mavericks' Cooper Flagg gets massive corn maze in Maine in his honor

The post Mavericks' Cooper Flagg gets massive corn maze in Maine in his honor appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Dallas Mavericks are currently gearing up for their 2024-25 season, recently finding out that they will have both an opening week and Christmas Day nationally televised game this year. A large part of the reason why there is still considerable hype around Dallas despite the Luka Doncic trade and Kyrie Irving injury is the presence of Cooper Flagg, whom the team drafted number one overall this past June. Flagg hails from Maine, prompting some fans to give him the nickname 'The Maine Event,' and recently, a farmer from Maine paid homage to Flagg with an epic corn maze that was designed to resemble the number one overall pick shooting the basketball, per the Mavs' account on X, formerly Twitter. In many ways, Flagg is responsible for putting his home state on the map in terms of basketball–Maine is not exactly known as a sports hub, and even though Flagg eventually transferred out of the state and down to Florida to finish out his high school career against better competition, he's still frequently shown love to his home state during his rise to fame. A strange situation for the Mavericks It's not often that a number one overall pick walks into a situation where three future Hall of Famers are already on the roster (in this case, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson). However, that's exactly the situation that Cooper Flagg finds himself in ahead of the upcoming 2025-26 NBA season. Conspiracy theorists were abuzz when the Mavericks landed the number one overall pick less than four months after trading Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in what was widely regarded as the worst transaction in NBA history. However, for Mavericks fans, the addition of Flagg figures to provide some sort of silver lining amid what was the darkest period in their franchise's history. At this point, it's hard to envision the Mavericks competing for much considering the state of their guard rotation with Irving sidelined due to an ACL injury, but once Kyrie returns, Dallas could have one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. The Mavericks will get their season underway on October 22 against the San Antonio Spurs. BOYS' SOCCER PREVIEW: Trinity returns core of team that was one win shy of state tourney

MORGANTOWN — The Trinity Christian soccer team was one win away from earning a trip to the Class AA/A state tournament last season. The Warriors reached the Region I championship before falling 2-0 to the eventual state champion, East Fairmont, ending their 2024 campaign in heartbreak at East-West Stadium. Trinity returns a season later with a strong nucleus of experienced players on the roster who have three years of varsity experience for head coach Dan Lohmann and his program, making the upcoming campaign one the Warriors are excited for. 'We have a very strong group of seniors who've been in our program for multiple years now,' Lohmann said. 'It's already been a lot of fun to be with this group and to see how they've grown in a short amount of time. They're great kids, and they work hard. We look forward to getting started with some games.' Trinity Christian begins the 2025 season by hosting Notre Dame at 7 p.m. on Aug. 22. Two of the key players returning for the Warriors are Nathan Adams and Austin Porta, who will provide the attacking threat. Midfielder Jakub Gallik will also be back for TCS, a player able to command the midfield and dictate the play for his team. Brayden Clampfer provides a stable defensive presence on the left side. Parker Hopkins returns between the posts as one of the top goalkeepers in the state in any class. 'Parker has the mindset of being fearless,' Lohmann said. 'That's what you need to excel as a keeper. He is a true leader who sees everything on the field at all times, and it's very important to have the confidence that he does. He's a commanding presence in the box and raised his level of play tremendously last year for us.' Hopkins was selected as one of two goalkeepers on the Class AA/A all-state first team and finished runner-up in the Goalkeeper of the Year voting. 'We started to establish the true culture of the team when I started here,' Lohmann said. 'These seniors are now the ones who really take on the responsibility of making sure we are doing what we need to do to prepare successfully. We love seeing them lead their teammates and be encouraging to one another.' The Warriors had some unexpected roster gaps this season, which they filled with players who have limited experience. But Lohmann says that's exactly who his team has grown to be over the years. 'That's just the DNA of who our team has become,' he said. 'We have players who have experience playing at high levels of travel soccer and players who have barely touched the field before. I think some teams are surprised when they see the size of our school, and then see how competitive we actually are on the field. It's a credit to the players and their focus and dedication to themselves and to each other.' MORGANTOWN HIGH KEY PLAYERS: Ray Hanif (Sr.), Cam Wheeler (Sr.), Anthony Vessecchia (Jr.) OPENING MATCHES: Aug. 20 at Buckhannon-Upshur, Aug. 23 at Woodrow Wilson, Aug. 26 vs. Bridgeport PRESTON HIGH KEY PLAYERS: Skyler Wilson (Sr.), Coen Thomas (Jr.), Evan Livengood (Sr.) OPENING MATCHES: Aug 16 vs. Jefferson, Aug. 22 at Berkeley Springs, Aug. 26 at Keyser UNIVERSITY HIGH KEY PLAYERS: Davion Huckaby (Sr.), Andrew Ballard (So.), Baret Shuba (Jr.) OPENING MATCHES: Aug. 20 at Lewis County, Aug. 23 at Brooke, Aug. 26 at Parkersburg South
