Tottenham Hotspur ended their 17-year wait for silverware by clinching the UEFA Europa League title with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Manchester United in Bilbao. Despite fielding a depleted squad, Spurs held their nerve after an early goal, controlling the game until the final whistle. It was a deeply emotional moment for captain Son Heung-min, who was seen in tears as he became the first Tottenham skipper in over 40 years to lift a European trophy.
However, the footballer from South Korea was not alone as cheering for him from the stands was none other than Korean actor Park Seo-joon. The beloved K-drama star celebrated passionately and later joined Son on the pitch for photos after the historic win.

Son shared the celebratory moment on social media, writing: "Champions! Come on, you Spurs."
In fact, their friendship goes beyond football and fame. In Son's 2019 documentary Sonsational, he spoke fondly of the actor, saying, "Park is always on my side, no matter what I do. I can learn a lot from him." The Itaewon Class actor—also part of the Wooga Squad alongside BTS' V aka Kim Taehyung, Park Hyung-sik, and Choi Woo-shik—even has Son saved in his phone as "Sonshine."

This victory was a landmark moment for the footballer, who joined Tottenham in 2015. With over 600 matches under his belt—454 of them for Spurs—and several finals appearances, it marked his first major trophy since debuting with Hamburg in 2010.
"Let's say I'm a legend. Why not?" he told TNT Sports.
"Seventeen years—nobody has done it, so let's say with amazing players, [I am] probably a legend of the club. This is what I've always dreamed of. Today is the day it happened. I am the happiest man in the world."

Cristiano Ronaldo defends Lamine Yamal after Nations League win: Leave him alone

Cristiano Ronaldo came to the defence of Lamine Yamal after Portugal defeated Spain in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday, June 8. Ronaldo scored the equaliser in the final as Portugal pushed the European champions into a penalty shootout, where they beat them 5-3 after the game ended 2-2 in normal time. While Ronaldo had a great game, the same couldn't be said about Yamal, who struggled to find a cutting edge. The Portuguese superstar, who praised Yamal before the final, once again jumped to the defence of the young sensation. Speaking after the game, Ronaldo said that Yamal is going to win a lot of accolades going forward, both individually and for his teams. advertisementRonaldo went on to say that Yamal has a lot of scope for improvement, and he is a phenomenon who should be left alone. The Portuguese superstar feels that the Spanish youngster has a big career ahead of him and will win the Nations League multiple times in the future. "He's going to win a lot of titles, both collective and individual. He's only 17 years old... I repeat: he's a kid with a lot of room for improvement. He's a phenomenon, but we have to leave him alone, that's what I ask. He has a very long career ahead of him and will surely win the Nations League many times," said Ronaldo. Ronaldo also defended Luis de la Fuente and his decision to take of Yamal in the second half of extra time. The Portugal skipper said that De la Fuente knows what is best for the team and he made the call thinking it will help the side. "Your coach is a phenomenon. He knows better than I do—I'm not a coach—what the team needs. He's already won several titles with Spain. What more do you want me to say? If the coach made the decision, it was because he thought it was the best thing to improve his team," said Ronaldo.

Kim Sae Ron listed as creditor in father's bankruptcy while carrying $900,000 debt — new details emerge amid Kim Soo Hyun scandal

Almost four months after Kim Sae Ron's heartbreaking death, new reports are shedding light on the financial struggles she faced as the sole breadwinner for her family. These revelations come just as dating rumours linking her to actor Kim Soo Hyun have resurfaced, sparking widespread speculations about her past. Kim Sae Ron was listed as a creditor in her father's bankruptcy According to court filings, as reported by multiple K-media outlets, Kim Sae Ron was registered as a creditor in her father's personal bankruptcy case. She was owed over 250 million KRW (180,000 USD)—money she had used to repay her father's debts after he defaulted on loans from more than 20 creditors. Her father, identified only as 'A,' filed for bankruptcy in December 2020 and was officially discharged by the Uijeongbu District Court in March 2023. Kim was just 20 years old when the bankruptcy was finalized. Failed restaurant investment added to financial burden After her father's bankruptcy, Kim tried to help her family bounce back. In May 2021, she reportedly invested in a family-run restaurant, registering it under a friend's name. She poured financial resources into the business and promoted it using her entertainment industry contacts. But despite her efforts, the restaurant shut down in 2024 due to unpaid rent and operational fees, causing her to lose even more, including the security deposit. The DUI incident that changed everything In 2022, Kim was involved in a drunk driving incident, crashing into a transformer in Seoul. The case quickly spiralled into a public controversy. More than just a reputational hit, the crash reportedly impacted multiple nearby businesses, leading to civil compensation claims and a wave of legal expenses. During her DUI trial in 2023, her legal team stated that Kim had been the family's sole breadwinner, citing ongoing financial strain. They described her as taking on significant monetary responsibilities for herself and her relatives. Over 1.2 billion KRW in confirmed debt Reports from Money Today, bnt News, and allkpop detail the extent of the former child actress' financial struggles, with public records showing her confirmed liabilities totalled over KRW 1.2 billion (around USD 900,000). This included KRW 100 million each borrowed from two idols and one singer friend, a KRW 60 million loan from her agency to cover medical expenses, and a massive KRW 700 million owed to her former agency, Gold Medalist, as repayment for pre-paid breach-of-contract penalties following her 2022 DUI incident. Despite the staggering total, it remains unclear how exactly these funds were used—whether for personal needs, legal fees, or to support her family. Family disputes posthumous claim In April 2025, a month after Kim's death, her family's legal team released a statement denying the narrative that she had been the family's sole provider. They dismissed the reports of financial mismanagement and wealth being squandered as 'unworthy of attention.' Still, the court filings and business records tell a different story—one where Kim appeared to be taking on a role far heavier than her age. What is Maybe Happy Ending and why are Koreans celebrating? All we know about musical winning 6 honors at 2025 Tony Awards

In a landmark moment for Korean theater and Broadway alike, the musical Maybe Happy Ending made history at this year's Tony Awards. It clinched six major honors including Best Musical. The tender and imaginative sci-fi romance is set in a futuristic Seoul and centered on two obsolete androids The musical has gone from humble beginnings in a small theater in South Korea to taking center stage at New York's prestigious Belasco Theatre. It has since gone on to dominate the American theater circuit. From Seoul to Broadway First conceived in 2014 and developed with support from Korea's Wooran Foundation, Maybe Happy Ending had its premiere in Seoul in 2016. What began as a modest production in the Daehangno theater district quickly built momentum. It eventually ran for five seasons and captivated local audiences with its delicate mix of emotional depth and speculative fiction. A decade later, the story has found its second wind and global recognition through an English-language adaptation that premiered on Broadway in November 2024. The show's successful transition to the American stage has been hailed as a milestone in cross-cultural storytelling. A story of connection in a disconnected world Maybe Happy Ending follows the quietly powerful tale of Oliver and Claire. They are two outdated HelperBot androids who meet by chance after being abandoned by their human owners. Despite their mechanical origins, the pair develop an unlikely emotional bond, discovering love, fear, and the ache of impermanence. It stars Darren Criss as the gentle, introspective Oliver and rising star Helen J. Shen as the curious and heartfelt Claire. The musical explores themes of loneliness, obsolescence, and the simple longing to matter. The show's unique story is set in a near-future version of Seoul. It blends technology and tenderness, pushing the boundaries of what musical theater can achieve emotionally and thematically. Tony Awards sweep cements the musical's legacy The 2025 Tony Awards solidified Maybe Happy Ending's status as the season's most acclaimed production. It earned six wins across major categories: Best Musical Best Leading Actor in a Musical (Darren Criss) Best Direction of a Musical (Michael Arden) Best Book of a Musical (Will Aronson and Hue Park) Best Original Score (Will Aronson and Hue Park) Best Scenic Design of a Musical These accolades come on the heels of an already triumphant awards season. The musical was honored with six wins at the 69th Annual Drama Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical. It also took home top prizes from the 89th New York Drama Critics' Circle and the 91st Annual Drama League Awards. A homecoming to mark 10 years As Maybe Happy Ending continues to charm Broadway audiences, the production is also preparing to return to its roots. In October 2025, a special 10th-anniversary revival of the original Korean-language version is scheduled to open in Seoul, bringing the story full circle. The revival is expected to draw both longtime fans and a new generation of theatergoers who have discovered the show through its Broadway success.
