"One Mission, One Message, One Bharat": Seven all-party delegations unite to take India's anti-terror message global
New Delhi: As part of its effort to counter global misinformation and highlight India's policy of zero tolerance on terrorism, the government has dispatched seven all-party delegations of Indian MPs to over 30 partner countries. The mission operates under the theme "One Mission, One Message, One Bharat," with a unified goal of presenting India's response to terrorism in the wake of Operation Sindoor.
This global outreach follows the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 that claimed 26 lives. In response, Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, targeting bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Speaking to ANI, Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai said: " Our group is going to Russia, Spain, Greece, Latvia and Pennsylvania, not to promote, but to express the truth that India is the biggest democratic nation and Pakistan has become the biggest rogue nation."
BJP MP Pradan Baruah underlined India's commitment to fighting terrorism. "Our delegation will be led by Sanjay Jha. It has nine members. We will go to Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia... The way terrorists carried out the Pahalgam incident... after that, the terrorist hideouts were destroyed through Operation Sindoor. We have to tell all these issues to the international community and also make India's stand clear that India is against terrorism... the entire country is united against terrorism."
Rajya Sabha MP Ghulam Nabi Khatana said the delegations will raise various issues related to terrorism and Pakistan's involvement. "Before the incident in Pahalgam in Kashmir, there were Uri and Pulwama incidents. We will raise the issues of the country."
Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Kumar Mittal expressed gratitude to the government for including him in the mission. "I want to thank the central government for including me in this mission. Seven delegations are going across the world with the aim of 'One Mission, One Message and One Nation.' We want to give a message that India is against every type of terrorism in the world. India will keep leading this fight against terrorism."
The seven delegations will visit Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Algeria, the UK, France, Germany, the EU, Italy, Denmark, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Singapore, the UAE, Liberia, Congo, Sierra Leone, the USA, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Russia, Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa.
Group 1, led by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Baijayant Panda will be visiting Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria. Three more BJP MPs--Nishikant Dubey, Phangnon Konyak, Rekha Sharma are part of the group. AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, nominated Rajya Sabha member Satnam Singh Sandhu and Former Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla will be part of the group.
Group 2, led by BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad will be going to certain European countries, including to United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark and others. BJP's Daggubati Purandeswari and Samik Bhattacharya, along with Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Priyanka Chaturvedi, nominated Rajya Sabha member Ghulam Ali Khatana, Congress' Amar Singh, former Minister of state for External Affairs MJ Akbar will be part of this group.
Group 3 is led by Sanjay Kumar Jha, Janata Dal (United)'s National Working President. The nine member group will be visiting Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Japan, and Singapore. BJP's Aparajita Sarangi, Brij Lal, Pradan Baruah, Hemang Joshi, along with Trinamool Congress's Yusuf Pathan, CPI(M)'s John Brittas, former External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and Mohan Kumar are part of the group.
Group 4 will be led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde, who will be visiting United Arab Emirates , Liberia, Congo, and Sierra Leone. BJP's Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, along with Opposition members including Indian Union Muslim League MP Mohammed Basheer, BJD's Sasmit Patra, and Sujan Chinoy will be part of the group.
Group 5 is led by Congress' Shashi Tharoor, with them slated to go to United States, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, and Colombia. BJP's Shashank Mani Tripathi, Bhubaneswar Kalita, and Tejasvi Surya, along with LJP (Ram Vilas)'s Shambhavi Choudhary, TDP's GM Harish Balayogi, Shiv Sena's Milind Deora, JMM's Sarfaraz Ahmad will be accompanied along with former Ambassador to US, Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
Group 6, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi will be going to a second group of European countries, such as Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia. Samajwadi Party's Rajeev Rai, National Conference's Mian Altaf Ahmad, BJP's Brijesh Chowta, RJD's Prem Chand Gupta, AAP's Ashok Kumar Mittal will be accompanied by Manjeev S Puri, and Jawed Ashraf.
Group 7, led by NCP (SCP) MP Supriya Sule will be representing India's stand in Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa. BJP's Rajiv Pratap Ruddy, Anurag Singh Thakur, V Muraleedharan along with Congress' Manish Tewari, Anand Sharma, TDP's Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, AAP's Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, and former permanent representative of India to UN, Syed Akbaruddin will be putting forth India's policy of zero-tolerance against terrorism.

"Looking to deepening ties, centrepiece is FTA": EAM Jaishankar on India-EU relations
Brussels: External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Wednesday spoke at the German Marshall Fund Brussels Forum 2025, where he highlighted the importance of India's relationship with the European Union. Jaishankar stated that India gives "pretty high priority" to its relations with the EU, highlighting the growing interest in Europe over the past decade. Jaishankar expressed optimism about the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), saying that discussions have been positive and that the agreement is "within sight" of being finalised by the end of the year. Jaishankar said, "We are really looking to deepening our ties, the centrepiece is the FTA." He said his meetings have been very positive and noted that discussions took place on mobility and talent flows, education. On the timeline for the fruition of the Free Trade Agreement between India and the EU, EAM Jaishankar noted that since the visit of the College of Commissioners in February, "A lot has been done and everything that I heard on this trip gives me the confidence that it's within sight that by the end of this year it is feasible to do this". Jaishankar also addressed the trade tensions between the EU and the US, stating that India values its relations with both partners and will deal with each on terms that are mutually beneficial. He acknowledged that Europe has distinct positions on many issues, which may not always align with those of the US. Jaishankar said, "We see today that Europe has a distinct position on many issues, those are not necessarily the positions shared today in the United States, so that's a reality. We value our relations with the US as we do with the EU we will deal with each one on terms which are best for both of us." On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Jaishankar reiterated India's position that differences between countries cannot be settled by war and that negotiations are the best way forward. He noted that while this position may not have been widely accepted initially, the world is now coming to terms with it. "We have felt from the start, even if two countries have differences, it cannot be settled by the cause of war. Two, if the war has started, you cannot get solutions on the battlefield... the answer then is to negotiate. It makes sense to negotiate directly than through convoluted signalling. So that's been our position." He noted that although this position wasn't widely accepted in 2022, the world is coming to terms with it now." Jaishankar is in Brussels where he has held several interactions with senior officials of the European Union. Discussions have seen positive developments on several fronts of the India-EU partnership.

Pakistani judge launches book on prominent Omani personality Al Muhallab Ibn Abi Sufra
MUSCAT: Dr Syed Muhammad Anwer, Alim Judge of the Federal Shariat Court in Pakistan, recently launched his new book, Al Muhallab Ibn Abi Sufra, at a special ceremony held at the Pakistan School Muscat. The event was attended by prominent figures including Dr. Mohammed Al Hajri, member of the State Council and Chairman of Social and Cultural Committee, Bilal Hasan, Deputy Chief of Mission, Pakistan Embassy, Ameer Hamza, Chairman of the Board at Pakistan Schools Oman as well as senior officials and staff of the Pakistan School Muscat. Speaking at the launch function, Justice Anwer explained that his choice to write about Al Muhallab Ibn Abi Sufra stemmed from the historic figure's vital contributions to Islamic and Arab history, and his particular significance for both Oman and Pakistan. 'Al Muhallab belonged to the Azd tribe, one of Oman's largest tribes, and was an influential personality who played a vital role in shaping the Omani identity,' he said. 'He was the one who introduced Islam to the region now known as Pakistan in 83 AH(664AD) via the Kabul area. At that time, there were no borders as we see today.' Describing Al Muhallab as a philosopher, a courageous and wise leader, Anwer highlighted the shared maritime history between Oman and Pakistan across the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf — a legacy that, he noted, is deeply embedded in both Arab and Islamic history and remains relevant for the future. 'Historic figures like Al Muhallab set an example for current and future generations,' he said. Justice Anwer added that he was keen on launching the book in Muscat — and specifically at the Pakistan School Muscat — in order to engage the younger generation with the legacy of this Omani figure, 'not just for Oman, but for the Pakistani people as well.' 'This will help foster closer ties between Oman and Pakistan,' he said. 'That is part of our responsibility to the next generations — to preserve our shared history, culture, and heritage.' He clarified that the book is not a biography, but rather an exploration of Al Muhallab's historical influence, especially in relation to Pakistan. 'I gathered many facts and historical documents on Al Muhallab to make such details accessible to current and future generations in Pakistan,' he said. The book was originally written in Urdu and later translated into Arabic and English. The Islamic scholar from Pakistan said that Al Muhallab was born in Dibba, in present-day Oman, and later migrated to Iraq, where he emerged as a prominent leader. 'He became a leader of Iraq and a notable figure in Arab and Muslim history. His name even appeared on currency of that time,' he added. The book covers various aspects of Al Muhallab's leadership and legacy, portraying him as a brave and intelligent military commander known for his strategic thinking and wisdom in dealing with enemies. The launch of the book on Al Muhallab Ibn Abi Sufra in Muscat underscores the importance of historical figures in fostering cross-cultural understanding and highlights the shared heritage between Oman and Pakistan.

India will have its own big four accounting giants, says Piyush Goyal
Bern: India is actively working to establish its own version of the global "Big Four" accounting and consultancy firms, as Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal expressed confidence that homegrown giants will emerge "very soon." Speaking to reporters in Bern on Monday, Goyal outlined the government's strategy to create large domestic accountancy firms capable of competing with international leaders Deloitte, PwC, Ernst & Young, and KPMG, which currently dominate India's consultancy landscape. "We are trying to create our own Big Four. Earlier, the rules were not friendly - we couldn't have mergers, and our mindset was also different," Goyal explained. "Now, gradually, people are understanding the benefits of partnerships. We will have our big four in India very soon - wait and watch." The minister highlighted a fundamental shift in India's approach to professional services, noting that traditional Indian CA firms previously preferred individual leadership over collaborative partnerships. This cultural change, combined with regulatory reforms, is paving the way for larger, more competitive domestic firms. Goyal emphasised India's commitment to creating a discrimination-free investment environment, positioning the country as an attractive destination for global businesses. "India is such a country where you will never face any discrimination. Total non-discrimination is guaranteed," he stated. He explained that foreign companies investing in India are treated as Indian entities once established, ensuring equal treatment and opportunities. "If you come to India and invest, you become an Indian company. Once you become an Indian company, you will never feel any discrimination." The minister contrasted India's approach with other countries that "create unnecessary barriers and trouble the industries of other countries," emphasising India's open and welcoming investment climate. Goyal positioned free trade agreements as crucial instruments for promoting investment, noting that India's growing reputation as a preferred investment destination is being reinforced through these strategic partnerships. The development of domestic "Big Four" firms represents part of India's broader economic strategy to build world-class professional services capabilities while reducing dependence on foreign consultancy giants. This initiative aligns with the government's vision of creating a more self-reliant and competitive business ecosystem. Earlier in the day, he met the Chairman and Committee Members of the recently established Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) Zurich Chapter. Had a detailed discussion on promoting India's fintech expertise and collaboration opportunities in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) sector, especially in the innovative startup ecosystem. Friends from the media also joined us for this interaction," Goyal wrote on X. Goyal began his two-day Switzerland visit with an interaction with CEOs of select Swiss companies and prospective investors in India over lunch on Monday.
