‘Pc Predator' jailed for second time after having sex with crime victim
Stuart Trentham, 41, was jailed for 18 months on Wednesday by the same judge who sent him to prison for nine months earlier this year for an 'almost identical' offence.
Sheffield Crown Court heard how Trentham was a South Yorkshire Police officer who responded to a report of burglary in 2020, during the pandemic lockdown.
Prosecutor Joseph Bell said the officer began to exchange increasingly 'flirtatious and sexualised' messages with the woman complainant.
Mr Bell said they then had consensual sex when Trentham attended at her house.
But the prosecutor said the woman 'saved his number on her mobile phone as Pc Predator'.
Mr Bell said the woman's friend encouraged her to report the matter to the police at the time but she was worried about alienating her local police.
He said it was only after she saw a documentary about the Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens, who murdered Sarah Everard in 2021, that she decided to make a complaint.
He said she was finally prompted by the publicity which surrounded Trentham's jailing for nine months in February for sending inappropriate messages to a vulnerable woman after she reported that sexual images of her had been posted on the internet without her consent in 2022.
On Wednesday, Judge Jeremy Richardson KC jailed father-of-three Trentham, who appeared in court on bail, for a further 18 months.
He told him: 'You abused the responsibility reposed in you.
'Police officers have a high position in society and are an essential component of a civilised country.
'The public place confidence in a police officer to do the right thing and behave with propriety.
'You betrayed that trust and you have betrayed that trust now twice.'
The judge said: 'This is a grotesque breach of trust by a police officer.'
He told him: 'You are a disgrace to the police force.'
Judge Richardson said: 'It must be made clear that if anyone indulges as a police officer in this form of misconduct, they fall to be punished.
'There has to be an element of deterrent.'
The judge said: 'Your conduct twice over in almost identical circumstances is outrageous.'
Earlier, Curtis Dunkley, defending, said his client had struggled serving his prison sentence earlier this year as a former police officer, saying it was a 'living hell'.
Mr Dunkley said Trentham, of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, had autism and suffered with PTSD.
The defendant admitted misconduct in a public office when he appeared in court on Wednesday.
He sat in the dock wearing a blue suit and with his head in his hands.
Trentham resigned from South Yorkshire Police in 2023.

Man arrested on suspicion of murder after death of woman in Cardiff
A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Cardiff, police said. Officers from South Wales Police were called to South Morgan Place in the Riverside area of the city at 7.37am on Thursday to reports of a seriously injured woman. Paramedics also attended the incident, and despite their best efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, the force said. Detective Superintendent Mark O'Shea said: 'We have arrested one man in his 30s on suspicion of murder and we are not looking for anyone else in connection. 'Residents will notice an increased police presence in the area while we investigate.' Anyone with information is urged to contact the police. Speaking to the PA news agency, one neighbour, who asked not to be named, said: 'The police wouldn't tell me anything this morning. 'They asked me if I had seen anything, but I wasn't out of bed yet when it happened. 'It's a bit alarming, something like that happening so close to your house. 'I think this is the first time anything like this has happened round here that I can remember.' Another neighbour, who also asked not to be named, said the police had not told them anything about what had happened. She believed the incident had happened outside a block of flats, which had been cordoned off by the police.

'Whilst the protest was overwhelmingly peaceful, there were a small minority who behaved in a way that was disruptive. ' Measures such as the road closures were put in place to protect the public, and to allow those who wished to protest peacefully the right to do so. 'We will also be continuing to review footage of yesterday's protest, to identify any potential further offences.' 'Moving forward we will continue to engage with our local community to provide reassurance.'

Police praise victim of domestic violence after ex-partner is jailed
Police have praised the bravery of a victim of domestic violence after her former partner was jailed. Robert Zasada, was jailed for 40 months after the abuse committed in February this year. Zasada, 34, whose address was given as West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to one count of actual bodily harm one day before he was due to stand trial earlier this year. Detective constable Kelly Williams, from Oxford's domestic abuse investigation unit, said: 'I would like to commend the victim on her bravery for coming forward and supporting this serious case. 'I hope that this sentence highlights to the public that Thames Valley Police take assault and domestic violence very seriously. 'I would encourage anyone who is going through domestic abuse to come forward and trust that Thames Valley Police will do everything we can to bring those responsible to justice.' James Gwatkin, prosecuting, told the court Zasada's relationship with the woman was 'volatile'. Mr Gwatkin said they had been together at a flat in Oxford, drinking and taking drugs. The court heard that the woman was admitted to hospital with multiple wounds to her face. Judge Khan said: "This is a serious incident of domestic violence. You're a violent man. This was a violent relationship. "Your beef with her is that you thought she was having an affair. This was an indiscriminate and frenzied attack." Zasada was jailed for a total of 40 months and handed a seven-year retraining order.
