Strictly Come Dancing star Tess Daly was one of the well-known names to be included on King Charles' birthday honours list as she was awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours List
Tess Daly has said she is "genuinely pinching herself" over her MBE as she speaks out on the honour. The Strictly Come Dancing host has taken to her social media to say she can't believe she has been given the award.
Alongside fellow Strictly presenter Claudia Winkleman, Tess was one of the people to be given an MBE in King Charles ' birthday honours list. However, she has since said that she's struggling to believe what has really happened.

The TV star has been given the MBE for her Services to Broadcasting after being a staple on our screen for decades. She has said it is an "utter privilege" to be named alongside other TV legends.

Posting to Instagram, Tess shared a photo alongside the late Sir Bruce Forsyth along with a lengthy caption describing how she is feeling. She wrote: "Genuinely still pinching myself… Feeling extremely humbled and very honoured to be awarded an MBE for Services to Broadcasting in King Charles' birthday honours list.
"If I could, I would dedicate it to all the wonderful people I have had the pleasure of working with over the past 26 years. What an utter privilege it has been to work with so many legends of broadcasting and Knights of the Realm including Sir Trevor Macdonald [sic] and Sir Terry Wogan-and also to the Strictly viewers who have brought us so much joy over the past 20 years-thank you to every one of you for being there for the ride; it means the world having you there.
"From Back in 2004 when it all began with the wonderful Sir Bruce Forsythe [sic] til now - 21 years later. Huge congrats to my brilliant girl @claudiawinkle on receiving her award too - who would've thought we'd be celebrating this together 20 years after we first met? Thank you so much for your lovely messages. Not sure I'll ever be able to take this in! Xx."
Friends and fans of the star took to the comments to share their congratulations messages. Claudia Winkleman, who has also been given an MBE this year, wrote "Love you," along with five red love heart emojis.

While former Strictly star Tasha Ghouri said: "Go you!!! Huge inspiration," as Dragons' Den alumni Sara Davies commented: "Absolutely amazing huge congrats xx."
Tess has admitted that she almost didn't receive the letter saying she has been chosen for an MBE on time. She said: "This genuinely came as the greatest surprise of my life. I don't think I've come back down to earth yet, I didn't see it coming, and it almost didn't happen, because the letter went to the wrong address.
"And thank goodness, someone very kind found me. And so by the time I got it, I only had, I think it was two or three days left to accept it. There's a deadline of acceptance. I can't imagine not ever wanting to accept such a wonderful award. But of course I did."

'Scared' Gemma Collins 'calls 999 after receiving abusive letter at her home'

The Only Way Is Essex icon Gemma Collins reportedly had to call the police after receiving a 'threatening and abusive' letter at her home A 'scared' Gemma Collins reportedly called the police after she received a 'threatening and abusive' letter at her home from a man who wrote about his extreme dislike for her. The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 44, called the cops, who then visited her home in the countryside. Following the reported incident, it has been said that the TV personality has upped her security with round the clock dog patrols and loved ones keeping her company. According to an insider, the Celebrity Big Brother icon was left 'shaken and very scared for her safety' after receiving the letter. ‌ ‌ The source said the abusive letter was from a "man expressing his extreme dislike for her and using menacing language." They added: "It was really nasty and made reference to tracking her down, so she called the police straight away." The Mirror have reached out to Gemma's representatives for comment. The source went on to tell The Sun that Gemma has been grateful to the police for their help in the "ongoing investigation". In May, Gemma revealed on a podcast that she had to deal with stalkers over the years, which "played havoc on her mind". Gemma said: 'No one would believe the bloody crap I've had to deal with. I've had a woman stalker who wrote me a letter in white gloves and wanted to kill me. "You know, people would wish me dead. I'd get all sorts at the shop. Weird. People are weird. And that's why in a way I came away from my shop in the end.' ‌ Meanwhile, Gemma has been struggling with her health in recent weeks. Earlier this week, a bedridden Gemma took to Instagram to share an update about her health, revealing that she had been seriously unwell for a number of weeks. In her post, which included a photo of the reality TV star laying in bed, she wrote: "Hey guys sorry been quiet i have Pneumonia. I'm not as fast or on it as I usually am on the daily. I am still honouring my work commitments which is taking every bit of energy I have but will be back entertaining you all soon." In a further update on her Instagram Story, Gemma revealed she was receiving treatment via a drip and had been seen by a doctor. ‌ Pneumonia is an inflammation of the lungs typically caused by an infection, and while most people recover within two to four weeks, infants, the elderly, and those with heart or lung conditions are at a higher risk of severe illness and may require hospitalisation. Luckily, Gemma has not had to go to hospital, but speaking to The Mirror, she admitted that she felt as though she was "dying".

The 36-year-old, whose real name is Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, has some prior experience on the hit BBC show. He was a contestant in the 2024 Christmas special where he was paired with professional dancer Nancy Xu, 33. The pair impressed the judges are were one of the highest scoring couples, scooping an impressive 37 points for their Street/Commercial performance. ‌ The former Olympic sprinter impressed bosses who are now hoping to secure him for a full season of the long-running dance contest - which will be in its 23rd season this year. There are hopes he will be able to work around his busy schedule that relates to Gladiators - which traditionally films across the summer. ‌ While Strictly usually begins airing in August each year, the contestants are secured weeks in advance and immediately begin training in an effort to gain confidence on the dance floor ahead of the live shows beginning. A source has told The Sun: 'Bosses have been desperate to get Nitro on the series for a while. They were in talks last year but couldn't get the timings to marry up with his work." The source continues: 'He was a huge hit at Christmas prancing around in lycra and showing off his biceps. Producers were also impressed with his dancing." The source also explained that they hoped Nitro's inclusion could attract a whole new range of fans to Strictly - as bosses are hoping to capitalize on the family friendly success of Gladiators. The Mirror has contacted the BBC and representatives of Harry for comment. Strictly has continued to draw scorn and scandal in recent years after accusations of abuse by professional dancers and star signings disgracing themselves with ungentlemanly behaviour. Last year, Go Compare singer Wynne Evans raised eyebrows when he ran his hands over dancer Katy Jones. ‌ He later caused scandal during the 2025 Strictly Live Tour when crude comments he made behind the scenes were made public. A BBC investigation was held while Giovanni walked away from the show while protesting his innocence. Fellow professional dancer Graziano Di Prima admitted he kicked celebrity partner Zara McDermott during rehearsals and he left the BBC show. ‌ Strictly is expected to continue this year, with judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse and Craig Revel Horwood all set to return. It may be the final time that Craig takes up a seat at the table as he has long vowed to quit the series after he turned 60. With that landmark passed this year, some fans fear he could retire at the conclusion of the upcoming season. However, the star appeared to backtrack on his promise last year. He told The Mirror: "I have no intention of quitting because it's a fantastic Saturday job that I intend to do into my 80s, as long as I'm still compos mentis, darling! and if I haven't been cancelled before then!"
