Geri Horner embraces 'new chapter' away from Spice Girls as she shares favourite-ever book

Daily Mirror29-04-2025

Geri Horner has opened up about her love of reading and revealed her favourite book as she embarks on a 'new chapter' away from the Spice Girls and her Ginger Spice persona
Former Spice Girls icon Geri Horner has opened up about her favourite books as she embraces a "new chapter in her life". She rose to fame with the hit group in the '90s, but Geri says she now considers herself a writer-producer beyond her Ginger Spice persona.
The popular star told Hello! magazine, revealing a childhood filled with the enchantment of reading, with The Book Thief by Markus Zusak earning the top spot on her adult bookshelf. Cast back to her younger days, she said she would be lost in the magical world of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis or adventuring through Enid Blyton's creations.

In an intimate chat with the mag, Geri reminisced: "I love all kinds (of books). When I was growing up my mother didn't have a lot of money, so I'd be reading a lot while everyone else was away on holiday," reports the Express.

Memories flooded back as she recounted those days, saying: "I remember sitting under a tree at the bottom of the garden reading. I loved how a book could transport you anywhere, and still do.
The iconic Ginger Spice star emerged in the '90s with the Spice Girls, notching up nine chart-toppers in the UK and becoming a global phenomenon.
Despite their split in 2000 and brief reunion stints, mum-of-two Geri, who married Formula One bigwig Christian Horner since 2015, is now serenading a different tune, focusing on literary pursuits rather than music.
Geri told Hello!: "I'm loving this chapter in my life. I love being a creator. Being in front of the camera is fun for five minutes, but I find writing much more rewarding."
Geri Horner has revealed she's sent her fellow Spice Girls - Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, and Melanie Chisholm - copies of her new book but hasn't yet sought their opinions.

The second instalment of Geri's Rosie Frost series, 'Rosie Frost: Ice on Fire', hit the shelves earlier this month. The murder-mystery features a fiery redhead protagonist, much like Geri herself.
Meanwhile, Mel B's enigmatic social media post has set tongues wagging about a potential Spice Girls reunion.

Mel teased fans with the possibility of the iconic group reuniting musically after they went their separate ways in 2000. Despite calling it a "hiatus" and having reunited for performances since, speculation is rife that another spectacular arena tour might be on the horizon.
The Spice Girls have sold over 100 million records globally, earning them the title of the best-selling girl group ever.
At 49, Mel B shared a nostalgic video of herself browsing through old photos from the Spice Girls' heyday while in a car.

All the new stars confirmed for Celebrity Gogglebox line-up including pop legend

As Celebrity Gogglebox comes back to screens, new and returning famous faces are taking to the sofa to entertain the nation. The star-studded Channel 4 reality show brings together celebrities from across UK culture to share their weirdest, wildest and wackiest takes on the hottest TV shows in the land. It boasts an impressive alumni, including father-and-daughter duo Danny and Dani Dyer; married reality stars Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash; Spice Girls icon Mel B and her daughter Phoenix Chi – to name just a few. The seventh season is welcoming a fresh new cohort of stars to gain their Gogglebox stripes with everyone from comedy legends to pop icons. As the full line-up is slowly revealed, there are even exciting rumours of exactly who will complete the cast such as Alison Hammond and her son Aiden who have already done a travel show together. So, without further ado, here's who to expect cropping up on your screen every Friday night. The Inbetweeners star James Buckley has delighted fans after confirming he and his wife Clair will appear on the show this year. The 37-year-old actor, best known for portraying Jay Cartwright in the hit 00s sitcom, took to social media to share the exciting news. 'Hi guys, how's it going? We are joining the Gogglebox family. We're going to be watching some great TV and some not so great TV. And you'll be able to join us on Friday on Channel 4 at 9pm,' he said. James and Clair have already won fans over with their joint YouTube/podcast/book brand, At Home With The Buckleys which tackles 'the wild ride that is modern marriage, parenting and adulting'. The parents of two children – Harrison and Jude – are candid about their 'early lives, years of cult TV fame, having children and setting up their YouTube channel', cultivating over 250k subscribers. If that wasn't enough, they also have another podcast, In Sickness and In Health which focuses on discussing 'relationship non-negotiables.' As such, there is plenty of excitement to see this dynamic duo bring their witty rapport to the Gogglebox sofa. 'Can't wait to see you on it jay cartwright you legend,' Chris_leeds_united_woodrow said. 'Omg I'm buzzing!! Cannot wait!' jessica_sellwood95 echoed. 'These two are class. What an addition to Gogglebox this is gonna be,' kellyann83 agreed. Next up, we have pop singer Jess Glynne, 35, and her partner Alex Scott, 40, who is a well-known former Lioness and sports commentator. Taking to Instagram to share their involvement in the new season, the loved-up couple said: 'We are both so excited to be joining the Gogglebox family.' Alex then turned to the Hold My Hand hitmaker and asked, 'Are you ready to watch some TV?' to which Jess responded, 'Yeah, are you?' and Alex replied in the affirmative, encouraging viewers to join them on Friday. The brand-new stars have been in a happy relationship since summer 2023 and have been seen together at plenty of red carpet events. Jess spoke about the joy she has found in life to Metro last year: 'I am happy, I feel like I've found a really good balance in my life. I've got support in my family, my business, my partner, everyone around me.' Of course they have sparked plenty of excitement among fans. 'Aww looking forward to this weeks episode even more,' user raerubyraek said. 'No place I'd rather be,' officialanmollakhani joked. After a standout year of cameos from Big Boys to Doctor Who, Rylan is charming the nation for another year as he returns to the sofa with mum Linda. First joining the show in 2019, the mother-and-son duo have been staples of the Channel 4 reality show. In a recent Instagram post, they confirmed this dynamic duo would be shaking things up again with Rylan joking: 'Cor, someone's had her makeup done, look!' Fans celebrated their return, calling them 'the best'. The Happy Monday rockers are back at it for another season as they announced on social media. 'We're back on Gogglebox with crisps, chocolate, jelly babies, popcorn and we're gonna watch tele and what?' Bez asked Shaun. 'Talk a right load of b****,' Shaun gleefully responded. The pair have made quite the spalsh on the show, with such vibrant chemistry that fans have veen called for them to get their own show all together. In 1993, the pair formed Black Grape together and remained close friends since then British swimmer Ellie Simmonds and close friend, radio personality Richie Anderson – who were co-stars on Strictly Come Dancing in 2022 – are returning for another season of Gogglebox. 'When I got the call I did wonder whether I should do it. Then I thought I'd do a leap of faith. You don't know until you try,' Ellie said about her decision to join at the time. The retired Paralympian, who recently featured in a new documentary, Ellie Simmonds: Should I Have Children, called their return to the show as 'so exciting'. The famed Radio 1 broadcaster Nick Grimshaw – who first appeared on the show in 2019 – is returning for another season of Gogglebox shenanigans with his niece, Liv. In a chat with The Times last year, the regular joked: 'I love watching telly in the evening but watching myself watching telly on Gogglebox is a step too far. 'When I do, I spend the next few hours thinking, 'Wow, I really shouldn't be on the TV,' which I think is a healthy reaction.' This year has seen another big career milestone for the DJ and presenter who has recently joined the 6 Music Breakfast Show. Comic duo – Babatunde Aleshe and Mo Gilligan – are back, back again. As Mo said: 'We're back, we hope you're back too. Come on! No scary movies though please.' Babatunde was in full agreement although they both seemed to quickly accept their fate that there was likely a scary movie in their future. The longtime friends and collaborators decided to join Celebrity Gogglebox when their work dried up over the pandemic. The I'm A Celebrity star recounted: 'Then the pandemic hit, and the tour got postponed. I was like OK, right, back to square one. 'But then [Mo] said, 'look, we're still guaranteed to do the tour, but in the meanwhile do you want to join me on Celebrity Gogglebox?' And I said 'hell, yeah!' And so it all fell into place. I started doing that, and then my manager at TfL informed me that they had to let me go.' Last but certainly not least, Diversity duo Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely are back. The Britian's Got Talent winners and self-proclaimed 'besties' are sitting shoulder-to-shoulder' in the new series, as they told fans. They first appeared on the show with brother Ashley Banko in September 2021 and have been regulars since then. More Trending 'Perri kills me. I will be watching this,' Simsimma1992 declared in the Instagram comments. 'Yay!! Excited to see you,' Aberdeenlass echoed. Celebrity Gogglebox season seven airs this Friday at 9pm on Channel 4. Katherine Ryan pregnant with fourth child just months after cancer diagnosis

Katherine Ryan is reportedly expecting baby number four, just months after her shock cancer diagnosis. The 41-year-old announced in March that she had been told she had melanoma for the second time in the last 20 years. Hello! reports that she is now expecting her fourth child with long-time partner Bobby Koostra. She has not confirmed the news on her own social media platforms. Katherine has three children, including son Fred, three, and daughter Fenna, two, with Bobby, as well as 15-year-old Violet from her previous relationship. Just two months ago, she revealed that after going to visit her GP over a mole on her arm she had been diagnosed 'deadly' skin cancer. This was the second time Katherine had faced a diagnosis like this, the first time being when she was younger and at university. Speaking about her experience, the Duchess star shared: 'The mole kept changing, I know a lot about melanoma, I had melanoma as a very young woman – aged 21 – on my leg, I've spoken about that before. 'It was flat, it wasn't that big but it was melanoma. It is a deadly form of skin cancer and it does spread quickly.' The mole was surgically removed, which the comedian showed off on her Instagram story with a white dressing plaster over the area. Late last year, the star also revealed she had suffered 'three miscarriages in five years' and discussed medical emergencies happening while she was on tour working around Europe. One miscarriage was in September of last year, while she was also on tour, saying it was 'difficult' at times. Speaking on her Telling Everybody Everything podcast, Katherine said: 'We lost another pregnancy in September at the beginning of the tour, which was fine, and then it was difficult, and then it became fine again. More Trending 'I'm totally fine about it now. And not to be shrewd, but I looked in the calendar and I thought, oh, we would be due to have that baby in March, and I thought, that's fine, I can do the Irish dates of my tour and land and I have a few specific dates off, I can make sure I have the baby on this specific day and then do the London dates of the Palladium with a small baby.' She added: 'I never find out at home, it's always a surprise and then I always have to have surgical intervention, meaning it does not resolve itself on its own. 'Some of the occasions we have had the products of conception tested to find out why we had a miscarriage. This time in September, I absolutely thought it was my fault because I was on tour.' Metro has reached out to Katherine's team for comment. This is a breaking news story, more to follow soon… Check back shortly for further updates. Brooklyn and Nicola's biggest bombshells as he makes big move in family feud

Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz have given a joint interview amid rumours of a rift between the couple and Brooklyn's famous family, with the aspiring chef unveiling a new inking Married couple Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz's latest joint interview has raised a few eyebrows thanks to some telling revelations - and a new tattoo! The pair's chat with Glamour Germany comes amid speculation of a rift between the couple and Brooklyn's family. Brooklyn is the eldest son of former football star David Beckham and his wife, fashion designer Victoria, who found fame in pop group the Spice Girls. ‌ The couple, also known as Posh and Becks, are also parents to Cruz, Romeo and Harper. Last month, Brooklyn and Nicola were absent from family pictures celebrating David's 50th birthday and speculation about their strained relationship with the former Manchester United player has grown since. Here, we take a look at the biggest bombshells in the couple's joint interview – including Brooklyn's latest blow to his parents. ‌ Asked how he protects his relationship in "such a public spotlight", Brooklyn told Glamour Germany: "Ignore the noise. Keep your head down, work hard, be kind. People are always going to talk. What matters is that we're happy together." Nicola added: "It's not always easy. On TikTok there are always random stories popping up about us. When I see fake news, my instinct is to shut it down. But it's not worth it. I just scroll past and move on." Nicola, who is the daughter of American billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz, married Brooklyn, who is the eldest son of Victoria and David Beckham, in 2022. ‌ Speaking about their wedding day and the moment she said 'I do', Nicola told the magazine: "I was so nervous. Saying our vows in front of that many people? Terrifying. Someone told me, 'Just look at Brooklyn.' And as soon as I did, the nerves faded. "When my dad took my hand and said, 'Are you ready?' I just started crying. I couldn't even look at him. I was thinking, My make-up! And when I walked down the aisle, (UK artist) Sekou was singing Songbird live. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it." ‌ Brooklyn added: "I'm usually chill speaking in front of people, but that day I was a wreck. Nicola kept me waiting for 10 minutes and it felt like forever. But when I saw her, everything else disappeared." Rewriting hot sauce history ‌ Brooklyn isn't just passionate about Nicola - the aspiring cook juggles being a 'wife guy' alongside running his own hot sauce company. Speaking in his new interview, Brooklyn was keen to point out that the name of his business has no links to his famous father. Initially, it seemed that Brooklyn was paying tribute to dad David with the name of his new hot sauce range, Cloud23, first thought to be a heartwarming gesture to their father-son bond. ‌ When a customer inquired about the brand's name on the official website, a member of Brooklyn's team responded, "The 23 included in our brand is a warm nod to Brooklyn's father, David Beckham, who wore number 23 while playing for Real Madrid and LA Galaxy, inspired by NBA legend Michael Jordan." But in an interview with Glamour Germany in April, Brooklyn decided to offer a new narrative, explaining, "The 23 stands for our engagement date and my age back then." There was no mention of his father David during the chat, who is also noticeably absent from the Cloud23 website. No longer a mama's boy ‌ The couple's Glamour Germany photoshoot reveals that Brooklyn has given his "mama's boy" tattoo, etched over his heart, a floral makeover, seemingly in tribute to his wife Nicola Peltz's wedding bouquet. The fresh images reveal Brooklyn's new tattoo of flowers covering the "mama's boy" inscription he got back in 2018 as an homage to his mum Victoria. The aspiring chef has around 100 tattoos, with nearly 70 are tributes to Nicola and her family. Brooklyn got his tribute to Posh Spice in 2018 when he labelled himself a mama's boy. Gracing the cover of Germany's Glamour, Brooklyn and Nicola are the picture of romance, and within the pages, the budding chef lavishes praise on his spouse of three years. This public display echoes the 26-year-old's effusive declarations of love for 30-year-old Nicola across various social media platforms.
