Life goes on: Rafizi vows to continue duties despite threats, attack on family
He said he is not prioritising politics in the current situation but believes the threats were aimed at forcing him to give up and remain silent.
"Some have suggested that I take a short break, but life and responsibilities must go on.
"It is not that I am heartless or prioritising politics under the current situation, but the aim of the threats against my family is to make me give up and stay silent.
"If I do not continue my routine and duties as usual, then their objective would be achieved," he said in a Facebook post today.
As such, Rafizi said he will proceed with the Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast tonight, joined by Ampang member of parliament Rodziah Ismail and education activist Victor.
Topics on the podcast will include the recent attack on his family, the threat posed by a bullying culture, and other issues.
He also said he will go ahead tomorrow with the mobile counter at the Pasar Pagi Taman Muda and meet Pandan residents as planned.

JOHOR BARU: A retired teacher was duped into losing RM467,237 after joining a non-existence investment scheme and legal services. Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the 60-year-old woman came across an advertisement of 'Advance Fin Advisory' investment company. He said the victim was at her home in Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram, when she saw the advertisement on Facebook on June 17, 2025. 'The victim was attracted to the 94% profit promised within a day as advertised,'' ACP Raub said in a statement. The victim, he said, contacted the suspect and was added to a WhatsApp group and taught how to start trading the shares. ACP Raub said the victim made 20 transactions to different bank accounts from June 17 until Jun 26, 2025, amounting to RM 286,377. 'The victim was directed to make additional payments when she wanted to withdraw the profits,'' he said. Unable to withdraw the profits the victim sought assistance from a legal firm from an advertisement on Facebook. She then contacted an individual who claimed to be the representative of the 'Benjamin Lee & Co' legal firm. 'The victim was taught on how to recover the profits but had to pay RM180,900 as legal fees,'' he said, adding the victim made seven transactions into seven different banks from July 4 to Aug 2, 2025. He said the victim only realised she was cheated when asked to bank in more money. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. ACP Raub reminded the public to be alert and careful especially in matters involving financial transactions or job offers when dealing with unknown persons. Community leaders report defamation of Head of State, minister to police
Banjimin and Jinori in front of Beaufort IPD after filing the report today. BEAUFORT (Aug 15): Two local leaders from Membakut filed police reports regarding a Facebook post linking Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Arif to the death of student Zara Qairina Mahathir. District Native Court chief Banjimin Ondoi Dulau and Deputy Chief 1 of PBS/STAR Membakut Division, Jinori Mikil, filed separate reports at the Beaufort District Police Headquarters (IPD) here today. They emphasized that the allegations in the post were entirely false, made without evidence, and clearly defamatory. Additionally, the claims attempted to tarnish the reputation of the individuals involved and the institution of TYT (Head of State), particularly the Governor of Sabah, Tun Musa Aman. Banjimin stated the post could incite the public, provoke unrest, and interfere with ongoing police investigations. 'The statement also threatens the safety and dignity of the victim's family and the slandered individuals,' he said. Jinori said he identified the post on a Facebook account on July 30, which alleged Mohd Arifin's child was involved in the incident. 'Mohd Arifin's child never attended the school in question. This accusation is completely untrue and could create negative public perception,' he explained. He urged authorities to investigate the Facebook account, which also claimed the student was the granddaughter of the Sabah Head of State and the child of Mohd Arifin. Both Banjimin and Jinori requested legal action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, Sections 499–500 of the Penal Code (defamation) and Section 504 of the Penal Code (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace). They further called on the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to act against the account owner and those spreading the defamatory content. Besides the named account, they identified several others uploading identical content and have submitted details to relevant parties. The leaders hope all state and federal authorities, including cyber law enforcement agencies, will take appropriate measures to protect the reputation and safety of the slandered parties, especially concerning the dignity of state leaders and the institution of the Sabah Head of State.

Police investigate viral Facebook video by 'Akmal Salleh' for hate content
GEORGE TOWN: Police are investigating a viral video posted on Facebook under the name 'Akmal Salleh' for allegedly containing hate speech. Penang police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail stated that the video included statements that could incite public alarm and disrupt order. A report was filed in Bukit Mertajam on Aug 12 regarding the video, prompting an investigation under the Sedition Act 1948 and Penal Code. Azizee confirmed that Bukit Aman's Special Crime Investigation Unit has taken over the case. Two police reports have been lodged so far in connection with the viral video. The Facebook account in question is believed to belong to UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh.
