3 Covington men charged after guns, drugs found during traffic stop

Jasper County officials said that during the traffic stop, an altercation occurred, leading to the arrest of three people inside the vehicle.
Ashton King, 19, Jaqualen Ross, 21, and Travion Ross, 20, all of Covington, were taken into custody and face multiple charges.

King was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, three counts of felony obstruction of officers, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Jaqualen Ross faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and a window tint violation.
Travion Ross was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
All three were booked into the Jasper County Jail.

Authorities, community team up to find missing New London, Minnesota, man
Aug. 19---- A 76-year-old man was treated and later released after a drone located him Monday evening in a wooded area in rural Sunburg. According to a news release from the the man was out checking deer stands with his 77-year-old friend from when their all-terrain vehicle became stuck. His friend went to find assistance and the two became separated. A missing persons report was made shortly after 6 p.m. Monday. Deputies learned the New London man had been missing for more than three hours and had a medical condition. A search of the area — in the 9900 block of Minnesota Highway 9, east of Sunburg — was quickly organized and included ATVs, drones, K-9 units, a helicopter and people searching on foot. At around 8:40 p.m., the man was located by a drone. Searchers on an ATV were guided to his location and brought him to medical personnel waiting at the scene. He was transported by ambulance to CentraCare — Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, where he was treated and later released. The sheriff's office was assisted by the Sunburg Ambulance, Sunburg Fire Department, New London Fire Department, Lakes Area Rural Responders, Minnesota State Patrol Air Wing and troopers, and civilian volunteers. In a written statement, Sheriff Eric Tollefson wrote, "The Sheriff's Office extends its appreciation to all who contributed to the search and is thankful for the successful outcome." Car Crashes Into Food Influencers Through Restaurant Window While They Were Filming
Two vloggers are recovering after a car crashed into the restaurant where they were filming a food review. Patrick Blackwood and Nina Santiago were about 10 minutes into their review of CuVee's Culinary Creations in Houston on Aug. 16, when they caught the terrifying moment on video. The two posted the full incident on their YouTube channel two days later, showing them biting into their food as a car crashes into the window near their booth. Patrick appears to be sitting closest to the window and was covered with shattered glass as Nina is seen falling out of her seat. After looking around, Patrick then helps Nina get up from the floor as they walk away. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the female driver claimed she thought she put her black SUV in park outside of the restaurant and after releasing her foot off the brake, the vehicle rolled into the building. The sheriff's office says the two people inside the booth were injured and taken to a local hospital. Nina and Patrick documented their journey in the ambulance and at the hospital on video, showing some of the scratches on their faces, chins and arms. ‘I miss my community': Acquitted of rape, former Cherokee County teacher wants his job back
Matthew Kealhofer, a former teacher at River Ridge High School in Woodstock, was found not guilty of raping his ex-wife and is seeking to return to his previous position. Kealhofer, who was a teacher and coach, was accused of rape by his ex-wife in 2023, leading to his arrest and charges despite his claim that the encounter was consensual. 'I was moving forward with my life, and I assume this was a way for her to get what she wanted,' he said. 'I miss my community, and my community has been there for me,' Kealhofer said in an emotional interview with Channel 2's Audrey Washington following the verdict. Kealhofer's attorney, AJ Richman, criticized law enforcement's handling of the case, stating, 'The investigator in this case knew about exculpatory evidence, meaning evidence that is helpful to the defense. ... They knew about all this helpful evidence to Matthew and nobody talked about it.' Kealhofer expressed his desire to return to his role at River Ridge High School, saying, 'It is my ultimate goal to come back and to be the thriving member to society that I was prior to all this nonsense.' Washington couldn't reach Kealhofer's ex-wife for comment. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office defended their investigation, saying, 'We stand by the actions of the lead detective, who conducted a thorough and professional investigation. We remain confident in the integrity of the investigative process. We also fully respect the decision made by the jury.' A spokesperson for the Cherokee County School District acknowledged the incident but did not comment on Kealhofer's potential future employment with the school.
