Bengaluru drug bust: Nigerian woman arrested, MDMA worth ₹10 cr. recovered
In a major drug haul, Chikkajala police and sleuths from the Central Crime Branch (CCB) arrested a Nigerian woman named Princess, 25, and recovered 5.325 kgs of MDMA crystals worth ₹10 crore from her in Bengaluru.
Acting on a tip-off regarding a foreign national trying to peddle drugs in Chikkajala, the police raided and detained Princess on Tuesday, June 10.
She had reached Bengaluru by bus from Delhi the same day, police revealed. Apart from the MDMA crystals, an iPhone and a bag full of new churidars were also recovered.
Officials said that Princess, the daughter of a civil servant in Nigeria, came to Delhi on a business visa on October 4, 2021, and later availed a student visa claiming to study in Hyderabad. However, it has now emerged that she did not get admitted to any college, and instead got involved in drug peddling. Her visa has expired, police said.
Princess claimed that she was only a mule, carrying a bag from Delhi and delivering it to Bengaluru on the instructions of her friend based out of Nigeria. While the city police are trying to identify her associate, they are not buying the theory that she is innocent.
This case comes months after Mangaluru police seized 37.878 kgs of MDMA crystals worth ₹75 crore from Electronics City and arrested two South African nationals in March earlier this year.
Police campaign against narcotics
To mark International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, the city police have taken up an awareness campaign, which will not only include walkathons and events at schools and colleges, but also workshops about early intervention and rehabilitation of addicts. These workshops will feature experts and former addicts who have kicked the habit. This year's theme is titled: 'Breaking the Chains: Prevention, Treatment and Recovery for All'.

Several state BJP leaders have demanded an NIA probe into the murder. Police sources too said Shetty was allegedly murdered by a group of eight youths, with suspected links to the banned Popular Front of India (PFI). According to police the Investigating officer of the CCB is processing the handing over of the case to the NIA.

Nigerian woman on student visa arrested in Bengaluru with Rs 10-crore worth MDMA crystals
In a major drug bust in Bengaluru, the Anti-Narcotics wing of the city's Central Crime Branch arrested a 25-year-old woman from Nigeria on June 10 with Rs 10-crore worth of MDMA crystals concealed in a women's wear consignment that she was carrying. The 25-year-old has been identified as Akinwunmi Princess Ifeoluwa who arrived in India on a student visa and was residing at Uttam Nagar in New Delhi. The woman was arrested from the Tarahunise village on the Rajanakunte Main Road of the Chikkajala police limits on a tip-off provided by informants that a foreigner was going to deliver a consignment of MDMA in Bengaluru. The police have reported finding 5.32 kg of MDMA crystals, an Apple mobile phone, and a consignment of new churidar dress pieces from the possession of the woman. 'The offender is a foreigner who landed in Delhi a few years ago,' the Bengaluru police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh said. 'The information provided by informants stated that a foreigner was illegally earning money by selling prohibited drugs,' the Bengaluru police said in a statement on Friday. Ifeoluwa has stated that she came to New Delhi on October 4, 2021, on a student visa to study at the Chaitanya Deemed University in Telangana, but did not enroll at the college. Instead, she said she moved to New Delhi to work as a stylist doing hair braiding and pedicures. She claimed to have met a woman called Asa who assigned her the task of transporting the contraband to Bengaluru. 'She had hidden MDMA crystals in a consignment containing new dress piece materials that were allegedly packed by her acquaintance and transported from Delhi to Bangalore by bus,' the police said. The woman has claimed that she was delivering the drugs to a dealer in Bengaluru. The police are yet to arrest the receiver of the consignment. The Nigerian woman claimed that she started peddling drugs after interactions with Nigerian acquaintances living in Delhi. The woman has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 and the Foreigners Act of 1946.

5-member drug gang busted; two Nigerians among arrested
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), in coordination with the Golconda police, arrested two Nigerian nationals and three Indian drug peddlers on Friday. Officials seized 20 grams of cocaine, 45 grams of MDMA, 20 grams of ecstasy pills, and `40,000 in cash from them. Police said Okoro Cosmos Ramsey, a Nigerian national, is involved in three NDPS cases in Hyderabad. Lakshmipathi is involved in eight cases across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Romi Bharat Kalyan in three cases in Hyderabad and Goa, Jafar Khan in two cases, and Chimezie Boniface Adikea in two NDPS cases. All five accused were previously lodged in Chanchalguda jail in the same barrack, where they became friends and exchanged phone numbers. After their release, Ramsey moved to Golconda, where Adikea later joined him. The duo began procuring cocaine and MDMA from a Mumbai-based supplier named James, and sold it to Lakshmipathi and other peddlers. Lakshmipathi frequently travels to Goa and Bengaluru with a friend, where he established contacts with several drug suppliers. He reportedly procured cocaine, MDMA and OG weed from persons, including Jack, Romi Bharat Kalyan, Mahesh, Susheel and Abdul Jafar Khan alias Sharukh. Jafar Khan also helped him procure MDMA from a person named Haleem in Bengaluru. Police said the five-member gang has been supplying drugs to more than 25 persons in Hyderabad.
