Jessie J reveals early beast cancer diagnosis; promises more music after surgery
British pop star Jessie J has shared with fans the shocking news of her cancer diagnosis.
In a video posted on her Instagram handle, the singer revealed that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer and announced that she will be stepping away from the spotlight temporarily to undergo surgery.
She revealed that she learned about the same after recently undergoing a series of medical tests. Though the news was difficult, she was glad she caught it early. 'I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I'm highlighting the word early,' Jessie said in the clip. 'Cancer sucks in any form, but I'm holding on to the word early.'
The singer, known for hits like Price Tag and Domino, used her trademark humour to lighten the tone in her caption, writing, 'No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called 'Living my breast life'?'
She added, 'All jokes aside (You know it's one of the ways I get through hard times)… Your girl needs a hug.'
Jessie explained that she chose to go public with the news because she wanted to be transparent and believed sharing could offer comfort to others going through similar experiences. 'It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much, similar and worse,' she said. 'That's the bit that kills me.'
The timing, she revealed, felt surreal—especially as she had just released a track called No Secret and was gearing up to perform Living My Best Life.

New lab diagnoses amoebic brain fever, a first in state
T'puram: In a significant development, the state confirmed its first case of amoebic meningoencephalitis through the newly established molecular lab in the state. Health Minister Veena George announced that the diagnosis was made as part of a dedicated effort to detect amoebic brain fever, a rare but often fatal condition. State public health lab (SPHL) earlier set up a PCR lab capable of detecting five types of amoebae known to cause brain fever in humans — Naegleria fowleri, Acanthamoeba sp., Vermamoeba vermiformis, Balamuthia mandrillaris, and Paravahlkampfia francinae. The first confirmed detection was of Acanthamoeba, which was successfully identified and verified through this new facility. Previously, such cases were confirmed at PGI Chandigarh. With in-state confirmation now possible, the minister said it would greatly aid both treatment and research efforts. The minister further said that state has been implementing model interventions in the prevention of amoebic meningoencephalitis. Globally, the disease has a mortality rate of 97%, but Kerala reduced this to 23% through systematic efforts and timely, effective treatment.
