CM Punk Confronts Cody Rhodes On WWE RAW

Yahoo28-01-2025

CM Punk and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes had a heated confrontation on WWE RAW, just days ahead of WWE Royal Rumble.
Rhodes stood in the ring at the end of the January 27th episode of WWE RAW after Sami Zayn accidentally hit him with a Helluva Kick. Rhodes started to talk about being a champion before CM Punk interrupted. Punk asked Cody if he was okay, as he noted that it seemed like the weight of being the world champion was getting to him. He noted that he knew what the title could do to man, as it turned him into someone he didn't enjoy. Punk then said that none of them were Superman.
Rhodes then asked Punk whether he was his friend, and he said he was. He said that he promised Cody's dad, but he also loved him. Punk said that he saw the road that Cody was on, and nobody could have prepared him for that. He stated that there were no friends in WWE, and he made it clear that he was coming for Rhodes' title. Punk told Rhodes that because they were friends, he was going to stab him in the front.
Rhodes fired back by saying that, years ago, he looked up to Punk, and he was chasing him. However, he said that their dynamic had changed, as Punk was now chasing him. Rhodes told Punk that he hoped he won the Royal Rumble so that he could catch up.

Becky Lynch Wins Intercontinental Title At WWE Money In The Bank 2025

Becky Lynch had a brief alliance with Lyra Valkyria. "(Credit: Craig Melvin/WWE via Getty Images) Becky Lynch finally vanquished her archnemesis Lyra Valkyria at WWE Money in the Bank 2025. After losing to her former protege Valkyria at Backlash last month, 'The Man' made the most out of her rematch in the Intuit Dome, beating her fellow Irishwoman to win the Women's Intercontinental Championship for the first time. It wasn't exactly clean, though. While Lynch was able to do what she couldn't do at Backlash and win one of WWE's newest titles, she only did so after pulling Valkyria's tights for the controversial victory. Lynch's win was the climax of a rollercoaster ride of a storyline that kicked off at WrestleMania 41. That's when Lynch made her surprise return after roughly a year away to team with Valkyria and win the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. The next night? Lynch and Valkyria lost those same tag team titles, and a fed-up Lynch turned heel on the star she was supposed to be mentoring. That was all part of WWE's plan to help both Lynch and Raw's women's midcard title. There was a clear knee-jerk reaction when Lynch won a title the same night of her return, but just 24 hours later, WWE cleared that up with Lynch's heel turn. The goal was clear: utilize Lynch to elevate both Valkyria and the brand new Women's Intercontinental Championship. Heading into WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Valkyria had been the lone woman to hold the Intercontinental Championship, and throughout her reign, the title had largely been an afterthought. Lynch has changed that, and even with a victory over Valkyria at Money in the Bank, she has helped catapult Valkyria to the next level. Once getting, at best, lukewarm crowd reactions, Valkyria has become a likable underdog-type babyface, and that's largely thanks to her feud with Lynch. At WWE Money in the Bank, the crowd clearly supported Valkyria, demonstrating that Valkyria's feud with Lynch accomplished its goal. What's more, Lynch has helped raise the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship just by challenging for it. And now that she's champion, Lynch can take it to even greater heights. A small portion of WWE's fan base continues to cheer for Lynch, but throughout her rivalry with Valkyria, she became more hated by that same fan base. It's not easy for Lynch to get jeers, given that she's such an accomplished and respected veteran. Yet, Lynch's win at WWE Money in the Bank 2025 helped entrench her in that role. After all, it took, well, cheating for Lynch to win, which shows how highly WWE thinks of Lynch in that role and of Valkyria as a fan favorite. WWE Raw has no shortage of beloved babyface stars in the women's division, including Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley and Stephanie Vaquer. There she also recently been teases of a babyface turn for Liv Morgan that could add further depth to that side of the fence. Perhaps that's why WWE is commiting to Lynch as a heel. With the red brand doing just fine on the babyface side of the women's division, Lynch's tainted win over Valkyria at WWE Money in the Bank only further proves that Lynch is a heel to stay.

WWE Money In The Bank 2025 Results As Naomi Wins Women's Ladder Match

WWE Money in the Bank 2025 featured one of the most star-studded women's matches in company history: Alexa Bliss, Guilia, Naomi, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez and Stephanie Vaquer in a six-woman ladder match. In the eighth installment of the match, WWE mixed in three of its most seasoned veterans with three red hot rising stars who've all been called up to Raw or SmackDown in 2025. The goal? Outlast your opponents, climb up the ladder, grad the coveted WWE Money in the Bank briefcase and cash it in for a guaranteed world title show at at any time over the next year. Kicking off the show in the Intuit Dome, WWE's ensemble of women's stars battled it out in an attempt to become the eighth 'Ms. Money in the Bank' in history, putting on quite the show in the process. But in the end, only one star reigned surpreme. For the first time ever, Naomi can call herself 'Ms. Money in the Bank.' It was no secret that Naomi, in the midst of the best run of her WWE career, was the overwhelming favorite to win the coveted Money in the Bank briefcase. She entered the pay-per-view with reports indicating that she was the top choice to win the match. And that's exactly what Naomi did for the first time in her career. Some of the key highlights of the women's ladder match were: Of course, the biggest highlight was Naomi's career-defining win. The odds-on betting favorite to capture the 2025 WWE Money in the Bank briefcase, Naomi earned this victory with a stellar character arc over the past few months. Naomi had spent all of 2025 feuding with Jade Cargill in one of WWE's best non-title women's feuds in recent memory, even making her way into a rare WrestleMania women's non-title bout. Especially in recent weeks, Naomi had reinvented herself as one of the most intriguing stars in all of WWE, and now, she has one full year to cash in her Money in the Bank briefcase and capture a world title. The most obvious potential cash-in for Naomi would be SmackDown's current WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton. Stratton isn't clicking quite as well as expected as champion, and Naomi would be a fresh titleholder on the blue brand. Naomi cashing in on Stratton is a much more likely option than doing so on Iyo Sky, who is currently on the opposite brand, Raw. There is a ready made storyline for Naomi, who has plenty of history with Stratton, to cash in on SmackDown's current champion in the near future. That would potentially allow Naomi to seamlessly continue her storyline with one or two stars she's been joined at the hip with. Naomi has been connected with Jade Cargill, her WrestleMania opponent, and Bianca Belair, her former tag team partner, more than just about anyone in WWE. Both of those stars are strong candidates to be world champions in the near future, and if WWE decides to play the waiting game, then Naomi's Money in the Bank win could be saved for further down the road. There's no need to rush Naomi's cash-in, after all, and it would be quite the story if she finally cashed in that briefcase on either Cargill or Naomi. For now, Naomi will keep that WWE Money in the Bank briefcase by her side, but logic says that her guaranteed title shot will play a major role in her long-term storyline with Cargill and Belair.
