Injured British girl rescued from Mount Kinabalu

RANAU: A 15-year-old British girl was rescued from Mount Kinabalu after injuring her left knee during her descent near KM6.6 of the trail on Thursday. Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Rantey Fred, said emergency services were alerted at 6.40am, and Mountain Search and Rescue (Mosar) personnel arrived five minutes later to begin the operation. 'When our team arrived at the location situated about 1km from the Mosar post, there was a climber who fell and was injured in the left knee while on his way down from the summit of Mount Kinabalu. 'The team, assisted by Park SAR and mountain guides, provided initial treatment to the victim before transporting the girl down to Timpohon Gate by using Robbinson Stratcher. Arsenal lacked a natural number nine for much of last season, finishing 10 points behind champions Liverpool and scoring 17 goals fewer. Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz alternated up front until injuries sidelined them in January and February, leaving midfielder Mikel Merino to step in during the closing stages of the season. Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry City for around 20 million pounds in 2023. He has since scored 97 goals and registered 28 assists from 102 matches during his two seasons in Lisbon. Gyokeres helped Sporting win the league and the Portuguese Cup last season, when he scored 54 goals in 52 games in all competitions, including a hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League. The Sweden international, who spent a brief spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, will wear the number 14 shirt and will join up with the squad on their pre-season tour in Asia. Gyokeres is Arsenal's fifth recruit in the close-season after winger Noni Madueke, goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielders Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi. James, who has 33 goals in nine games for England including a double in their 4-0 group stage victory over the Netherlands, had been doubtful after injuring her ankle in their 2-1 semi-final win over Italy. HONG KONG: Former Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek scored as Premier League champions Liverpool were beaten 4-2 by AC Milan today in a pre-season friendly in Hong Kong. Liverpool, with record signing Florian Wirtz making his first start, dominated possession under the closed roof at Kai Tak Stadium but a shaky defence was punished for all four Milan goals. Rafael Leao opened the scoring for the Italian side on 10 minutes with Dominik Szoboszlai's superb strike equalising 16 minutes later to make it 1-1 at half-time But Loftus-Cheek, six minutes after the break, and two goals from substitute Noah Okafor, either side of Cody Gakpo's late header, gave AC Milan the victory.
