Israeli military says it is using advanced electronic warfare to intercept Iranian drones
Tel Aviv/Tehran, June 23 (UNI) Israel's military has revealed it is using advanced electronic warfare to intercept waves of Iranian drones, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
The operations have been spearheaded by the IDF's 5114th Spectrum Battalion—a highly specialised unit within the Computer Service Directorate—tasked with detecting and neutralising aerial threats in real time, according to The Times of Israel.
According to the IDF, troops of the CSD 'have played a significant role in the mission to defend against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran toward the State of Israel.'
The battalion has successfully blocked a wave of Iranian UAV incursions in recent days, forming a key pillar of the country's layered air defence network, it added.
The unit's high-tech capabilities have proven vital as Iran increasingly turns to unmanned drones to probe and challenge Israeli defences.
According to Israeli officials, Iran has launched more than 1,000 drones since hostilities began, targeting various locations across the country. Most have been intercepted by the Israeli Air Force, Navy, or electronic warfare teams, though some have managed to evade defence systems.
Over the weekend, one drone managed to hit a home in the northern city of Beit She'an, causing minimal infrastructure damage, though no casualties were reported.
The increased use of drones by Iran marks a shift from its traditional military tactics, moving away from proxy conflicts and towards more direct, targeted strikes. Its use of low-cost, difficult-to-detect weapons have been challenging Israel's advanced defence systems in new ways, prompting a rapid evolution in military response.
In turn, Israel is scaling up its reliance on artificial intelligence and electronic countermeasures to keep pace. Military officials say the integration of AI into air defence systems is helping to reduce response times and improve accuracy as the conflict enters a more complex and dangerous phase.

Delhi: Pro-Palestine Protest Met With Force; Detainees Allege Police Brutality, Harassment
New Delhi: The Delhi Police carried out lathi charge to disperse students and activists who had gathered to protest in front of the Israel Embassy in the national capital on Monday, June 23. Organised by the "Indian People in Solidarity with Palestine" (IPSP) in front of the Israeli Embassy, the protesters condemned the ongoing genocide in Palestine and to express solidarity with the "Global March to Gaza." It was also joined by the Revolutionary Workers' Party of India, Disha Students' Organization and Naujawan Bharat Sabha. Protesters burned photos of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, US President Donald Trump, and the Israeli national flag, and raising the slogans 'Free Palestine' and 'End the genocide in Gaza'. Protesters burn Israel flag, Trump and Netanyahu's posters outside Israel Embassy in Delhi. Photo: Vishal Students and activists who participated in the protest have alleged that the police physically assaulted them. Male police officers allegedly touched and harassed female protesters and detained them, which is against the law. Male protesters were allegedly slapped, had their clothes torn and were treated with extreme brutality by the police. Protesters also alleged that the police used casteist and communal slurs against them. Rauf, a visually impaired person associated with the Disha student organisation, was also allegedly subjected to police brutality. The protesters claimed that despite informing the police multiple times that Rauf is blind, police continued to assault him. Speaking to The Wire, Rauf said, "The Modi government is brutally repressing every pro-Palestine voice in India through its police and goons of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh). A few days ago activists of IPSP and BDS India were brutally beaten and almost lynched in Pune by a mob led by local BJP leaders when they were protetsing outside Domino's outlet Pune." Around 5 PM, the police detained all the protesters and took them to Mandir Marg and Tughlak Road police stations. 'Beaten so badly, I nearly fainted' One of the protesters, Srishti, who suffers from respiratory issues, alleged that she was brutally beaten and detained by the police. This was despite fellow protesters warning the police about her health condition. As Srishti's condition worsened, she had to eventually be taken to RLKC Hospital. Srishti said, "When we reached outside the Israeli Embassy and began our peaceful protest, there were no female police personnels present. The male officers, some in civil clothes, started dragging and assaulting protesters, including women, to break the human chain we had formed. We have video evidence of this brutality. I was beaten so badly that I nearly fainted.' "I told the police I was unwell and that the protest was peaceful, but they didn't listen. My right knee got badly hurt, and then I started struggling to breathe. The bus was moving for 40-45 minutes during which I started fainting. The female constables refused to help and mocked me, saying I was acting. When they realised my condition was serious, they left me outside the hospital". Around 7 PM, the police gathered all the protesters at the Mandir Marg police station and seized their cameras and mobile phones. At that time, the police collected the residential addresses, mobile numbers and other personal information of all 30 protesters. Some of the protesters alleged that the police threatened to interrogate them further. Meanwhile, some of the protesters said that they were interrogated by the special cell of the police. Priyamvada, a protester, claimed, "The Delhi Police are carrying out brutal repression on the protesters. During the protest, the protesters were detained. The illegal custody and long interrogation of women activists after 6 PM shows how the Modi government has intensified its crackdown. The Modi government has clearly taken a stand in support of Israel and the ongoing genocide in Palestine.'

400kg of Uranium goes missing after US strikes on Iran's nuclear sites
A massive cache of enriched uranium—nearly 400 kilograms, enough to produce up to 10 nuclear weapons—has gone missing after recent US airstrikes on three of Iran's key nuclear facilities, US Vice President JD Vance confirmed in an interview with ABC News. The uranium, enriched to 60%, was reportedly relocated just before the attacks and is now unaccounted for. 'We're going to work in the coming weeks to ensure that we do something with that fuel,' said Vance. 'That's one of the things we're going to have conversations with the Iranians about.' The primary target of the US operation was Iran's heavily fortified Fordow nuclear facility, buried inside a mountain and previously considered resistant to missile attacks. Satellite imagery taken before the strike showed a convoy of 16 trucks near Fordow, prompting speculation that sensitive materials were evacuated. Post-strike images revealed significant destruction at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—but the convoy was gone. Israeli officials told The New York Times that Iran likely moved uranium and vital equipment to a hidden site near Isfahan, sparking fears of a covert nuclear buildup. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which last inspected the sites a week before the strikes, has called for immediate access. 'This indispensable work must not be delayed,' warned IAEA Chief Rafael Grossi, addressing the UN Security Council. The situation has raised global alarms. While Iran maintains its nuclear ambitions are peaceful, Israel claims Tehran is dangerously close to building a nuclear weapon. US assessments have shifted sharply in recent days—from a three-year timeline to warnings that Iran could go nuclear 'within weeks.' The airstrikes, launched under 'Operation Midnight Hammer,' were a 37-hour mission involving B-2 Spirit bombers and decoy Tomahawk missiles. President Trump, who ordered the strike after intelligence indicated Israeli forces couldn't act alone, declared the mission a success. 'Iran's nuclear program has been completely and totally obliterated,' he stated. However, the missing uranium now poses a fresh challenge. As the US prepares to re-engage in talks with Iran, uncertainty looms over the fate of the material—and the region.

Election Commission to begin Special Intensive Revision of Bihar Electoral Rolls
New Delhi, June 24 (UNI) The Election Commission today issued instructions for holding Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar to ensure that names of all eligible citizens are included in the Electoral Roll (ER). The eastern state is likely to hold Assembly polls in October-November this year. The last intensive revision for Bihar was conducted in 2003. Various reasons like rapid urbanisation, frequent migration, young citizens becoming eligible to vote, non-reporting of deaths and inclusion of the names of foreign illegal immigrants have necessitated the conduct of an intensive revision to ensure integrity and preparation of error-free electoral rolls. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) shall be conducting house-to- house survey for verification during the process of this intensive revision. In accordance with Section 23 of the Representation of People Act 1950, the eligibility conditions to enrol as an elector were already being verified by the ERO. Now, to ensure complete transparency, it would be necessary that the documents on the basis of which such satisfaction of ERO is arrived at, are also uploaded in ECINET. However, these documents shall be accessible to authorized election officials only keeping in view the privacy issues. In case of any claims and objections raised by any political party or an elector, the AERO would inquire into the same before EROs satisfaction is arrived at. Under Section 24 of the Act, an appeal against the order of ERO can also be made to the District Magistrate and the Chief Electoral Officer. CEO/DEOs/EROs/BLOs have been directed to take care that genuine electors, particularly old, sick, Persons with Disabilities, poor and other vulnerable groups are not harassed and are facilitated to the extent possible, including through deployment of volunteers.
