RTE shares air date for the Traitors Ireland

RTE has confirmed the Traitors Ireland will air at the end of this month.
The Traitors Ireland will officially premiere on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Sunday, August 31.
Host Siobhán McSweeney will be in charge of the 'chaos, suspicion and stylish skulduggery.'
RTE also released the trailer for the hit show, teasing shadows stirring in the dark, 'where loyalty is fragile, betrayal is currency and suspicion is inevitable.'
The Traitors Ireland is filmed on the grounds of Slane Castle in Co Meath.
The show centres around a group of strangers who are hoping to compete to win €50,000 without getting murdered or banished (in the game, of course). The twist? The Traitors walk amongst them, sowing doubt and deceit at every turn.
RTE said: 'Expect conniving glances over banquet breakfasts, whispers in corridors and enough drama to make even the most loyal viewer question their instincts.
'As tension rises and alliances crumble, viewers will be left asking: who's lying, who's loyal and who's next?'
It comes after Kevin McGahern was last week announced as the host of the spin-off series, The Traitors Ireland Uncloaked.
Uncloaked will take fans of The Traitors Ireland deeper into Slane Castle with dissection of the episodes and exclusive access to the banished and murdered players.
Filmed in RTÉ Limerick, each episode will feature an exclusive interview with the banished or murdered player.
RTE added: "Kevin will have celebrity guests from the world of comedy, music, sport, and entertainment, who will give their opinion on the goings on within the castle walls.
'Whether it's their first time tuning in or they're longtime The Traitors fans, guests will share who they're backing, who they suspect, and who they'd banish without hesitation.
"Don't miss a moment of the drama, watch The Traitors Ireland: Uncloaked after every episode of The Traitors Ireland, later this year on RTÉ."

‘Leaving the role I loved was a terrible trauma' – Former RTE star lifts lid on real reason she quit station

The TV star told how she experienced a 'steady deterioration in working conditions' JO'S DONE 'Leaving the role I loved was a terrible trauma' – Former RTE star lifts lid on real reason she quit station EX-RTE star Joanna Donnelly has opened up about the "devastating" end to her role at Met Eireann. Meteorologist Joanna Donnelly left her forecasting role in Met Eireann back in April claiming it was a "very, very tough decision". 2 Joanna Donnelly quit her role in Met Eireann in April 2025 Credit: RTE 2 Joanna has admitted she left the station due to 'chronic stress and fatigue' At the time, Joanna confessed that she left the station as she felt it was the "right move" for herself and her family. However, in a recent interview with the Irish Independent, the 54-year-old revealed she took a step back from her role due to "chronic stress and fatigue". The Dublin native told how she had excellent colleagues at Met Eireann. But noted how their were too many restrictions in workplace which even extended to her volunteer work in the community. This included having to ask for permission every time she visited a school to talk to students about science. She said: "It started out that I had to ask for permission if I was to appear in the media in an area unrelated to my job. My initial interpretation was that if there was no conflict of interest with my work as a weather forecaster, then it shouldn't matter." Joanna explained how she experienced a "steady deterioration in working conditions" as the station eroded simple things in which her team took for granted. This included a fixed rotating roster that was "predictable, fair and balanced". After years of built-up stress, Donnelly noticed herself getting hit by a wave of "chronic fatigue". She remarked: "I am a usually fit and healthy person. I run, I swim, I cycle everywhere and I do a daily yoga practice. I don't smoke and I only drink to excess at book club. RTE release new trailer for The Traitors Ireland and reveal date it will hit screens - and it's sooner that you think "I blamed Covid. I blamed post-Covid. I blamed post-viral infections. I blamed menopause. In fact, I mostly blamed menopause." Joanna told how she spent a "fortune" at the doctors who took blood tests to try and "unearth what was wrong". She added: "No one ever suspected it could have been that I was stressed. Why would I have been stressed by a job that I loved, that inspired me and, even better, allowed me to inspire others?" Donnelly said that being employed by Met Eireann was her dream job and that she never imagined she would leave it. 'THIS IS NOT RIGHT' The TV star continued: "Nobody else could imagine me leaving either, and I think that was part of the problem. I kept saying, 'You can't do this. This is not right.' "But they thought 'What is she going to do?' It is very hard to leave. I was traumatised." Joanna went on to say that while it was scary to think about re-entering the job market in her 50s, she knew she had made the correct decision in leaving. And Met Eireann recently made a statement indicating that it was unable to comment on what Donnelly had said about her time there. The department clarified in the Sunday Independent: "Met Eireann, the Irish National Meteorological Service, is a line division of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage. "As an employer, the department has a duty to its employees not to disclose any information of a personal nature and accordingly, the department does not comment on any matters related to individual members of staff. "As a Division of a Civil Service Department, all employees of Met Eireann are civil servants."

RTE star Daithi O Se's secret to boosting confidence before turning 50

RTE star Daithi O Se has said turning 50 with a new head of hair has given him a huge confidence boost. The Today Show presenter is gearing up to co-host this year's Rose of Tralee next week with Kathryn Thomas. Around two years ago, Daithi underwent a 'hair restoration procedure' at the Bon Secours Hospital's Cosmetic and Hair Restoration Clinic in Tralee, Co Kerry at the end of 2022. And as he approaches his 50th birthday next year, the Kerry star it's giving him a huge confidence boost. He said: 'I'm 50 next year and it has been a huge confidence boost," he says of his hair which arrived over two years ago. "I have two brothers, and they have fine heads of hair and neither of them on TV. But sure, isn't that always the way?" Three months after he had the procedure, he shared at the time that he was 'absolutely delighted' and 'looking younger apparently' as he filmed his new hairline coming along nicely. He revisited the clinic to mark the one-year anniversary of his procedure, telling fans he could see a 'big change in one year' and adding that he was 'delighted with the results'. But he said turning 50 isn't a big deal. "Not really. But I want to get healthier and fitter, make it easier for myself physically,' he told the RTE Guide. "Outside of work, the only few times I've been home to Dingle in recent times were for funerals, so why not a party." This year, Daithi's wife Rita and their son Michel Og will be in the Dome for both televised shows, a first for his son. "He has a velvet tux for the occasion, is getting his hair cut today and is very excited about going to the show which he watched on TV last year." Daithi also revealed that he went back to college last year and now has a diploma in coaching and mentoring. "I focused on conflict management, and it has helped me big time. I'm non-confrontational so people see that as a weakness. So, you must show them it is in fact a strength. People are looking to be happy, but really, it's all about being content."
