NBA All-Star 2025: Chris Paul, Victor Wembanyama disqualified from Skills Challenge for not taking shots
Chris Paul thought he figured out a way to skirt the rules of the NBA All-Star 2025 Skills Challenge, but he and his San Antonio Spurs teammate Victor Wembanyama were disqualified for their shenanigans.
The final stage of the three-part Skills Challenge involves shooting, but to get through the relay with as fast a time as possible, Wembanyama and Paul didn't actually shoot the balls from the rack. Instead, they flung the balls quickly toward the basket, not engaging in any sort of shooting motion.

Team Spurs was booed by the fans at the Chase Center and received disapproval from their fellow competitors for trying to circumvent the rules and get through the relay quickly. Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell was seen giving the Spurs duo a thumbs-down — two thumbs-down, actually — for their attempt to create a loophole.
Paul tried to plead his case and get the disqualification overturned, but with no success.

Other than star Jack Eichel, Vegas struggled at times this year with having an offensive punch. One solution could be the team going after star free agent Mitch Marner. NHL writer Joe Yerdon of Bleacher Report linked the two sides together and listed Vegas as the best landing spot for the Toronto Maple Leafs star. "You could ask how Vegas could make it work and then I'd ask you: Have you ever known Golden Knights management to care about that? Marner teaming up with 2015 draftmate Eichel would give Vegas a lethal threat on the wing. Marner would get to play on another elite team only it would be one without crippling playoff history and decidedly less of a year-round spotlight on it. The Nuggets superstar is one of the best floor and ceiling raisers in the league, however, even Jokic has his limits. One member of his supporting cast that looks worse by the day is Michael Porter Jr. The Nuggets forward struggled mightily against the Thunder, averaging 7.4 points while shooting 32.2 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from 3-point. Porter Jr. is set to collect $38.3 million next season, limiting the Nuggets' ability to make improvements with him on the books. This next trade idea would alleviate Denver from those concerns. Advertisement Nuggets receive: Trey Murphy III, Kelly Olynyk. Pelicans receive: Michael Porter Jr., Peyton Watson, a 2031 first-round pick swap, and a 2032 first-round pick. Giving up the draft capital would be a necessary maneuver to getting another team to take Porter's contract. For the rebuilding Pelicans, that would also create cap space after his deal expires following the 2026-27 season. The Nuggets get a reliable scorer beside Jokic with Murphy.
