RTA completed Shindagha Corridor project in Dubai
A major traffic project in Dubai has now officially been completed, according to the RTA.
The Roads and Transport Authority opened the fifth and final bridge as part of the Sheikh Rashid-Al Mina Street Interchange Improvement Project on Sunday May 11.
Now open to traffic, the interchange was the final stage of the Shindagha Corridor project in Bur Dubai, a huge series of works designed to decrease congestion.

Stretching from the Al Garhoud Bridge towards Port Rashid all the way to the Infinity Bridge and Waterfront Souk, traffic flow is expected to be much smoother from now.
If your daily commute uses the route, then you're in luck, as the RTA has stated the works have reduced travel time from 80 to 12 minutes.

The distance between Infinity Bridge to Al Mina Street and on to Al Wasl Street should now take five minutes, as well as the route between Jumeirah Street and the Infinity Bridge.
Now looking ahead, the RTA is currently working on the Al Khaleej Tunnel Project, which will extended from the Infinity Bridge ramp in Deira to the intersection of Al Khaleej Street and Cairo Street.
Speaking about the Shindagha Corridor, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said:
'The corridor serves Deira and Bur Dubai, in addition to a number of development projects such as Dubai Islands, Deira Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid. The project's population is estimated at one million.
'The corridor development will contribute to providing free traffic flow along the Shindagha Corridor, increasing the capacity from 6,400 vehicles per hour to 24,000 vehicles per hour, reducing the journey time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030, and enhancing traffic safety. The savings from reducing journey time are estimated at Dhs45 billion over 20 years.'

'It's clear that many in both the House and Senate support transit,' said RTA spokesperson Tina Fassett Smith, per WGN. 'Balancing regional interests is challenging, but we are ready to continue our work to achieve consensus and deliver a solution.' Under the proposed legislation, the RTA would've been restructured as the Northern Illinois Transit Authority, overseeing a unified fare system and capital planning across the three transit agencies. Governor JB Pritzker expressed support for reforms but emphasized that funding without accountability is a non-starter. 'You can't put money into something that doesn't guarantee [safety and reliability] at the start,' he said, according to The Chicago Tribune. The fallout could ripple well beyond city limits. Metra may slash early and late trains, Pace could drop weekend service and ADA paratransit would shrink by two-thirds. The region could lose an estimated $2.6 billion in GDP annually and see 90 million fewer transit trips.

Dubai Metro confirms new timings for Eid Al Adha
The RTA has announced that the Dubai Metro timings will be extended during the Eid Al Adha public holiday. The holiday will begin with Arafat Day on Thursday June 5, followed by Eid Al Adha celebrations on Friday June 6, Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8. In a statement this week, the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority confirmed that all stations on both the red and green lines will operate from 5am to 1am (the following day), from Wednesday June 4 to Saturday June 7. Usually only running to 1am one night per week, the hours have been extended to allow residents to travel easily during the public holiday. Public parking will be free in Dubai over Eid Al Adha
Great news, motorists. There will be free parking in Dubai for Eid Al Adha. Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that all paid public parking will be free across the city for the upcoming public holiday. You can park in public parking spots with no cost from Thursday June 5 to Sunday June 8 (that's four bumper days of free parking).
