Locals reported seeing at least four police vehicles in the area, and police cordoned off a section of coastal path. It has since been confirmed that a body has been found. The death is not being treated as suspicious and the person's next of kin have been informed.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys Police said: 'We received a report that a body had sadly been found in the water off the coast of Aberporth at around 10.30am today. The next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. The death is not being treated as suspicious."

Woman wearing Palestine Action t-shirt arrested in Belfast

A woman wearing a Palestine Action t-shirt has been arrested at an anti-racism protest in Belfast city centre. It comes after the British Government in July made expressing support for or being a member of Palestine Action a criminal offence under terrorism legislation. In London, around 365 people were arrested for supporting the banned group after protesters gathered in Parliament Square on Saturday. In Belfast, videos shared online show a woman wearing a Palestine Action t-shirt being told by police officers she was being arrested on suspicion of 'possessing an article, namely a sign or t-shirt, that indicates support for Palestine Action'. Belfast MLA Gerry Carroll condemned police action against pro-Palestine activists. He called on Executive ministers to 'speak up for the right to protest' and dismiss any charges people may face. 'The whole world can see the mass starvation and daily executions carried out by Israel, yet the people being harassed in Belfast are those who stand up for Palestine,' Mr Carroll said. 'On the same day we saw far-right protesters with offensive and provocative signage, including pro-Israel items, the police took it upon themselves to arrest activists for having the temerity to wear items of clothing in solidarity action. 'The British Government implemented a regressive clampdown with their vote to proscribe Palestine Action, without a single vote being cast in the local Assembly.' Sinn Fein MLA for West Belfast Pat Sheehan said the British Government and PSNI's actions were 'disgraceful'. 'While Keir Starmer continues to enable the ongoing Israeli genocide and starvation of Gazans, he is also moving to silence ordinary, decent people for speaking out,' he said. 'Just yesterday, (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu announced his intention to seize Gaza City. 'Yet still, Starmer provides cover for this rogue regime, instead targeting activists for highlighting what should be a universal moral outrage. 'Like all previous censorship attempts by the British Government, which is totally out of step with the wider public, this too will fail. 'Highlighting the ongoing devastation in Gaza is not a crime. The real crime is Israel's policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide, aided and abetted by the US and Britain.' The PSNI has been contacted for comment.

Number of arrests at London Palestine Action protest reaches 365

Some 365 people have been arrested for supporting banned group Palestine Action. A further five detained for assaulting police officers, after demonstrators gathered in central London. Hundreds attended Saturday's demonstration in Parliament Square, organised by Defend Our Juries. The Metropolitan Police said it would arrest anyone expressing support for Palestine Action. In an update posted on X, Scotland Yard said 365 people had been arrested for supporting a proscribed organisation as of 6pm. Those whose details were refused, or could not be verified, were taken to custody suites across London. Charity Amnesty International described the mass arrests under UK terrorism law as 'deeply concerning'. The crowd, sat on the grass inside Parliament Square, could be seen writing 'I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action' on white placards at 1pm, with the vast majority remaining silent. Other clusters of protesters who were not holding placards gathered around the Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela statues in the square singing pro-Palestinian chants. Officers were holding individual demonstrators sat on the edge of the grass before escorting them through swelling crowds to police vans parked on the edge of the square. A separate group of officers attended a protester lying next to the fenced-off Emmeline Pankhurst statue. They later began arresting protesters sat in the middle of Parliament Square. The officers lifted the protesters – some sitting and some lying flat – off the ground before escorting them away. Onlookers applauded the protesters and shouted 'shame on you' at the police making arrests. Protesters who were still sat in the middle of Parliament Square stood up together at 2pm and held their placards in the air. One person was also arrested at a separate Palestine Coalition march, which set off from Russell Square heading to Whitehall via Aldwych and the Strand. The arrest was 'for a placard showing support for Palestine Action', Scotland Yard said. Membership of, or support for, Palestine Action is a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison under the Terrorism Act 2000.
