Aaron Judge Going on IL With Flexor Strain, Per Yankees Manager Aaron Boone
"Overall, we got some good news. It is going to require an IL stint with the thought it's right about that 10 days and those few days coming off, probably in DH mode and then starting throwing in around then," Boone said about Judge's elbow injury. "And then, hopefully, get back to the outfield shortly thereafter…as long as the symptoms are what they need to be."
Before the game, Boone didn't speculate whether the injury involved Judge's ulnar collateral ligament, saying that "hopefully it's something that is manageable, and we can get through."
A two-time AL MVP, Judge leads the major leagues with a .342 batting average and 1.160 OPS. He has 37 home runs and 85 RBIs for a New York team that opened a seven-game AL East lead by late May but started Saturday a season-high 5 1/2 games back of first-place Toronto.
Judge winced at Toronto on Tuesday after catching Alejandro Kirk's seventh-inning fly in the right-field corner and throwing to second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. as Dante Bichette tagged up and went from second to third. Judge was seen by a YES Network camera clenching his right hand in a fist.
"He had a throw in Toronto where it zinged him, it hurt," Boone said.
Judge was a designated hitter the following day in Wednesday's series finale, which Boone said then was planned. He was in right field for Friday's series-opening 12-5 loss to Philadelphia, then was out of the lineup for the second time this season.
"Felt like he was fine on the off day and then just last night was really dealing with it. He couldn't really throw well from the outfield," Boone said.
Boone said Yankees team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad was to read the imaging Saturday.

Where does that idea come from? For answers, we dig a little deeper. Parkins' argument isn't much different from a tired angle that has been expressed far too often. Look at the ranking. Think about everything you have heard Danny Parkins say. Jalen Hurts outplayed Patrick Mahomes during two Super Bowls, and he won one of them. Seven guys on this list haven't won their first yet. Hurts is clutch in big moments. Justin Herbert and Baker Mayfield aren't. Hurts has never lost to Jayden Daniels in a game where both started and finished. Plus, Daniels hasn't won a Super Bowl, nor has he been to one. Let's not look at this through rose-colored lenses. If you want to place Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, and Jackson ahead of Hurts, even if someone were to disagree with the ranking, they could understand the argument, but don't you dare place him behind Herbert, Stafford, Daniels, Goff, and Mayfield. That's just disrespectful. It's especially disrespectful if you are using terms like clutch, winning, and Super Bowl. When has Mayfield won without great talent? Where is Goff and Herbert's signature win during the postseason? Wait! Isn't Herbert winless in two postseason attempts? Didn't he have a big lead in one of those games? Seriously everyone... What are we doing with these rankings?

He offered an honest outlook for the team. "As of right now, New York has around $46 million in second-apron space. However, that doesn't account for the new deals we expect Mikal Bridges and Mitchell Robinson to sign between now and next summer," Quinn wrote. "If both are long-term Knicks, New York will blow past the second apron and only have a minimum to offer. If James is open to the minimum, and that's already a stretch, wouldn't he be likelier to take it in Cleveland than New York? In this scenario, the Knicks would be fighting an uphill battle." It's possible the 2025-26 season could be his last, but playing another year still seems to be the most likely scenario. Expect to continue hearing rumors about James and his future throughout the entire year. New York will also likely continue being connected as a possible landing spot for him next offseason.
