'Bologna FC, in partnership with their local government, provides free jerseys to all babies born in Bologna, before they even leave the hospital. The Italian team provides the jerseys in club-coloured boxes to parents of newborns throughout the city,' she said.
She encouraged Cork GAA and other clubs to consider the proposal.

Evan Ferguson's new boss closes in on stat held by a former Ireland manager
Gian Piero Gasperini will hit a major milestone next week when he takes charge of Roma for the first time in their season opener against Bologna. For the former Atalanta manager, who green-lit the swoop for Ireland striker Evan Ferguson this summer, it will be his 600th game in charge in Serie A - a figure that only four men have previously hit. One of those is former Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni, who can boast a massive 689 games as a manager in the Italian top-flight. Trapattoni took charge of Milan, Juventus, Inter Milan, Cagliari and Fiorentina during a career that also saw him manage in Germany with Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart, Portugal with Benfica, and Austria with Red Bull Salzburg. It was during his time in Salzburg that he was approached by the FAI to manage Ireland, a role that he held from 2008 to 2013, and included qualification to Euro 2012. Gasperini's career in the dugout began in the underage ranks at Juventus. His first senior role came in 2003 with Crotone in Serie C1. He moved to Serie A in 2006 when he was appointed Genoa boss, and he went on to manage Inter Milan, Palermo, Genoa again, Atalanta and now Roma. At Atalanta he won the 2023/24 Europa League in Dublin, beating Bayer Leverkusen. Other managers to pass the 600-mark are Carlo Mazzone (792), Nereo Rocco (747) and Nils Liedholm (635). Gasperini gave Ferguson, a loan signing from Brighton, another pre-season run-out on Saturday in Roma's 2-2 draw with Saudi side Neom. Ferguson played the first-half before being replaced at the break by Artem Dovbyk. His managerial style is widely expected to bring the best out of the Irish youngster, as he favours a pressing game and has already spoken positively about Ferguson's abilities in that regard. And recently, former Ireland striker Clinton Morrison gave his verdict on the influence Gasperini could have on the 20-year-old. 'It's geared up for him. Gasperini is a top manager,' said Morrison. 'Look at what he did at Atalanta. Just look at (Ademola) Lookman, Gasparini took his game to another level. Now every big club wants Lookman. 'Roma have gained a fantastic manager, and Atalanta have lost one. Ferguson will come on leaps and bounds under him. 'When you have a manager making those kinds of quotes about you as a striker - which I was - it gives you confidence. 'That's what Ferguson needs; an arm around the shoulder, a bit of love, and he'll score goals. Most strikers need that.' Paudie Clifford opens up on his mother's death: 'It still is very tough'
Paudie Clifford will take part in this year's Hurling For Cancer charity match in memory of his late mother Ellen. The GAA star's mum passed away two years ago, with Paudie and his brother David playing for Kerry the day after her death as the Kingdom defeated Clare in the Munster football final. A star-studded line-up has been announced for the match, which takes place at Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow, with top hurlers TJ Reid, Patrick Horgan, Lee Chin, Noel McGrath, Jake Morris and Darragh McCarthy all involved. The game sess sees Jim Bolger's All Stars, managed by John Kiely and Liam Griffin, assisted by Larry O'Gorman clash with Davy Russell's Best, coached by Brian Cody and All-Ireland winner Tipperary boss, Liam Cahill. Speaking to ahead of the match, Clifford said: "It's very important to us. Obviously, it was very tough for all of us. It still is very tough. "To see Davy Russell and Jim and Úna Bolger all doing so much work for the cause to raise awareness and maybe help another family in the future, or loads of families in the future is massive. "Obviously, it's a hard thing to go through, losing your mam when you admire her so much. "It's great to see so many people putting their shoulder to the wheel and doing so much to help this cause and to help families around Ireland. It's massive." Among those also stepping up to act as selectors, commentators, side-line officials, umpires and maor uisce are Marty Morrissey, Anthony Daly, Willie Mullins, Bernard Dunne and Paul Townend. Gates open at 5pm with pre-match entertainment and refreshments before throw-in at 7:30pm. Free car parking is available at Netwatch Cullen Park. Tickets are available from selected Centra and SuperValu GAA ticket agent stores, as well as online at (€10 for adults, €5 for children). Hurling for Cancer Research kits are available from Cúl Sliotars for just €50 with 10percent going to the charity. All proceeds from ticket sales and donations will go directly towards funding life-saving cancer research.
