One of Newcastle's new recruits made his impact on the pitch almost instantly as Anthony Elanga fired the Magpies ahead on his first start for the team after slicing home from Sandro Tonali's low cross.
However, the Gunners struck twice in quick succession when Mikel Merino tucked home into the bottom corner and two minutes later Alex Murphy turned the ball into his own net.

Jacob Murphy equalised for Newcastle after the break with a low finish from outside of the box, but Martin Odegaard snatched victory from the penalty spot in the 84th minute.
Arsenal are back in pre-season action against rivals Tottenham on Thursday, while Newcastle face an all-star K League side on Wednesday.

Howe's latest comments come shortly after his previous update, where he claimed that he could not involve Isak while the transfer furore was ongoing. He said: "We've had discussions and it's clear at the moment we can't have him involved with the group. I don't know how long that will be for. It's clear I can't involve him with the team at the moment. 'He is training later than the rest of the squad. There have been discussions since the tour. I don't think disciplinary action has happened. "He is here, so of course he has a future at Newcastle. From our perspective, we would love to have him back with the team, but the situation has to be right for that to happen." Newcastle begin their latest Premier League campaign against Aston Villa next weekend, a game that Isak looks set to miss - a fact that is not lost on Howe. Asked if the striker could potentially play, Howe replied: "I want Alex to be playing today. I want him training tomorrow. We would love the player to be with us, let me make that absolutely clear. "There is no part of me that does not want that outcome. But I don't see the current situation changing before Aston Villa." Mikel Arteta has sought to reassure Kai Havertz over his game-time at Arsenal after Viktor Gyokeres' move to the Emirates Stadium. Sweden international Gyokeres completed a £64m move to Arsenal last month and scored his first goal for the club in Saturday's pre-season friendly against Athletic Bilbao. ARSENAL 3-0 ATHLETIC CLUB: Viktor Gyokeres grabbed his first Gunners goal as Mikel Arteta's side ended pre-season by winning the Emirates Cup Mikel Arteta insists Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz can play together in attack for Arsenal. The forward duo both found the target as the Gunners ended pre-season on a high with a 3-0 demolition of Athletic Club. Gyokeres grabbed his first Arsenal goal in front of a delighted home crowd while Havertz also gave his boss something to think about after entering the pitch as a sub and scoring after Bukayo Saka's second. Arteta is relishing his newly-established squad depth, stating: "They can play together, Kai can play in different positions as well. It elevates the team's level and options of the squad. It's great to see both of them scoring and it's a good problem to have." Gyokeres hit 39 league goals in Portugal last season but none of them were with his head. Arteta believes the £63.7million frontman brings so much to the table and has warned opposition defenders they face being "destroyed" if they afford him space. He continued ahead of next week's Premier League opener at Old Trafford: "Everything he does is on instinct. That's why he's scored so many in the last few seasons. Havertz, who has come back from injury in impressive physical shape, then burst through on goal, showcasing tremendous speed to collect Saka's hooked pass before finishing cutely. Arteta was also pleased with the reception Noni Madueke received from the home crowd, explaining: "The reception that he got every time he was on the ball was super positive.
