Major Ukrainian drone attack sows chaos at major airports in Russia's Moscow
Videos published by Russian media showed people sleeping on the floor of Sheremetyevo, Russia's busiest airport by passenger numbers, amid long queues.
Russia's defense ministry said it had downed 117 drones overnight, including 30 over the Moscow region, after downing 172 drones, including 30 over the Moscow region, the previous day.
Russia's civil aviation authority, Rosaviatsiya, briefly imposed restrictions on flights overnight at Moscow's main airports - Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovskiy.
Several thousand people were stranded in the far east of Russia due to the cancellation of flights in European Russia, while extra trains were put on to bring passengers back to Moscow from the northern Russian city of St Petersburg, Russian media said.
Moscow and its surrounding region has a population of at least 21.5 million.

German court acquits satirist over social media post following Trump assassination attempt
A German court on Wednesday acquitted a satirist who was charged with having approved of an assassination attempt against Donald Trump during last year's US election campaign in a social media post and disturbed the public peace. Hotz argued that what a satirist says should be understood as a joke and that playing with provocation is his job. Judge Andrea Wilms said in her ruling that Hotz's post was satire that should go unpunished even if the comments may have been tasteless. She argued that no one would feel called upon to commit acts of violence by such clearly satirical utterances, according to a court statement. The German Journalists Association earlier this week criticized the trial as excessive and said that the case should be closed, arguing that satirical freedom should be interpreted generously. It noted that public broadcaster RBB already terminated its work with Hotz as a result of the post.

Russian Delegation Heads to Türkiye for Talks with Ukraine, News Agencies Say
Russian negotiators are flying to Türkiye for the first peace talks with Ukraine in more than seven weeks, Russian news agencies reported on Wednesday. State agency TASS said talks would take place later on Wednesday in Istanbul. Data from tracking site Flightradar24 showed the plane used by Russian delegation chief Vladimir Medinsky to fly to previous talks in Istanbul had taken off from Moscow. But three sources close to the Kremlin told Reuters that Putin, unfazed by Trump's ultimatum, would keep on fighting in Ukraine until the West engaged on his terms for peace, and that his territorial demands may widen as Russian forces advance.
