BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A local abstract artist is inviting the community to participate in an interactive experience as she discusses her current art show.
Natalie Dadamio's exhibition 'Beautiful Mistake' is currently on view at The Cooperative Gallery 213 in Binghamton.
The show consists of 18 paintings and two drawing wall installations.
Dadamio uses simple line, shape, and form to convey a deeper meaning about the unexpected moments that happen in our lives. Her work focuses on the use of color and emotion.
Dadamio says art, like life, is all about surprises.
'I really work with a lot of raw emotion, and the process is very important to me. The happy accidents, the little moments, the surprises, it's kind of an intricate journey just like life,' said Dadamio.
Dadamio is hosting an interactive Artist Talk on Thursday at 7 p.m. at The Cooperative Gallery 213.
During the event, she will discuss her creative process. There will also be demonstrations that those in attendance can participate in.
Dadamio's 'Beautiful Mistake' will be on display throughout the remainder of the month.

Broadway in Binghamton closes season with Menopause the Musical 2

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A musical that celebrates the highs and lows of womanhood is coming to the Broome County Forum on Wednesday. Menopause the Musical 2: Cruising Through Change is closing out Broadway in Binghamton's 2024-25 season. The show, which is the hilarious and heartfelt sequel to Menopause the Musical, will see the return of the four original characters, five years after the first musical. The story follows the women as they go on a cruise and catch up on their lives, face challenges, discover their true selves, and celebrate friendship. Stacey Harris portrays Soap Star, a woman who struggles with letting go of her youth. Harris says the musical helps to de-stigmatize women's health in a way that people can relate to and laugh at. 'I feel like our show is really important for not only that celebratory feeling of fun and laughter and bonding, but to also bring these important topics out into the world and say, 'It's okay to talk about these things and it's okay to share what you're going through.',' said Harris. Harris says the show is perfect for a date night or a girl's night out. Menopause the Musical 2 will open at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Tickets start at $48. To purchase, click here. Rod Serling Day celebrates the life of Binghamton's favorite son

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Fifth graders from all seven Binghamton elementary schools celebrated the legacy of the city's favorite son on Friday. Rod Serling Day had a different format this year, being held at Horace Mann Elementary because of its proximity to Rec Park. As in previous years, Serling's daughter Anne was the guest of honor, and she recounted to the children her memories of her famous father, especially focusing on his sense of humor. Leading up to the day, the fifth graders learned about classic Twilight Zone episodes and their underlying messages supporting compassion and tolerance. 'I feel that this is and my father would have felt that this is one of his greatest accolades, that fifth grade students are learning about the messages of the Twilight Zone, which I feel we need now more than ever. I'm so honored, as my Dad would have been, that these teachers do such a tremendous job and these kids are so great,' said Anne. After the assembly inside the school, the children went to Rec Park to participate in a variety of stations. They learned about the new bronze statue of Serling that was installed last year, Binghamton High School students did a staged reading of one of his famous Twilight Zone episodes, and the kids got to ride the same carousel that Serling once did. The day ended with a picnic lunch. Elementary students join Mayor Kraham for first carousel ride of the season

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – In a classic sign that summer is coming, the Rec Park merry-go-round took its official first spin Tuesday morning. In keeping with tradition, students from nearby Horace Mann Elementary joined the Binghamton Mayor to inaugurate the season. Students waited their turn to ride on the carousel that, several years ago, was refurbished to include some images that pay homage to Binghamton native and Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling. Mayor Jared Kraham hopped on a horse to ride alongside the kids. Fourth grader Everett Rabideau says he prefers the gentle spin of a carousel over the intensity of a roller coaster. 'I think it's cool because we're right there, and every time at recess we get to come to the park. Sometimes, they'll let us go on the carousel if it's open. I think it's cool that we get the first opportunity to go on the carousel,' said Rabideau. Five of our area's six carousels should be back in action this weekend as they traditionally open on Memorial Day Weekend. The Ross Park carousel in Binghamton is still being refurbished.
