The Guntur Range IG, who was in Nellore on Saturday, conducted a review meeting along with SP G Krishnakanth over the status of different pending cases related to rapes, gang rapes, highway robberies, kidnappings, thefts, atrocities against women, ganja smuggling etc.,
Given the evolving tactics employed by criminals, the IG emphasised that achieving breakthroughs in investigations hinges on law enforcement, from constables to high-ranking officials, effectively utilizing scientific technology. The IG noted that without leveraging such advancements, solving contemporary crimes would be impossible.
Tripathi directed them to open sheets against old offenders, trouble mongers, rapists, law breakers and Ganja smugglers, POCSO cases offenders, in the interest of reducing crime rate in the district. SP Krishnakanth briefed the IG about the percentage of breakthrough related to murders, atrocities against women, POCSO accused, robberies etc.

Driver imprisoned till natural death for raping minor in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A special court for Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act cases has found a 26-year-old man guilty of raping a minor girl. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Rs 25,000. MC Raghu of Nyanappanahalli, a driver, was arrested by Hulimavu police in 2023 after the 14-year-old survivor filed a complaint against him. According to the complainant, Raghu repeatedly raped her between Nov 2022 and March 2023. Public prosecutor Geeta Ramakrishna Gorawar said the survivor conceived and delivered a child on Sept 28, 2023. "None of the survivor's family members had any idea about the incident. The girl was taken to hospital after she complained of stomach pain, and doctors found that she was pregnant," she said. Passing the conviction order, special judge S Mahesh observed, "For the offence punishable under Pocso Act , the convict is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for life, which shall mean imprisonment for his natural life, and shall pay a fine of Rs 25,000. In case of default of payment of fine, the convict shall further undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of six months." Madhya Pradesh horror: Principal booked for molesting class 7 student; hugged girl to ‘relieve depression'
BHOPAL: A govt school principal in Vidisha district has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly trying to hug a class 7 student on the pretext of relieving "depression" and threatening to kill her if she spoke about it. According to the complaint and local media reports, the principal came to the survivor's classroom on July 26, called her his "best student" and told her that "when a teacher is in depression, hugging his favourite student relieves stress." Later that day, around 4 pm, when classes ended, the girl went to the school storeroom to deposit some articles accompanied by a friend. The principal allegedly sent her friend outside, held her hand, and tried to hug her with ill intent. When she resisted, he allegedly threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident. The girl said she remained silent out of fear for over two weeks before informing her family. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the and informed the district education department. Man gets 20 years jail for raping minor girl
Koppal: The additional district and sessions judge and the fast track court ( Pocso ) of Koppal sentenced Rajasab Hallikeri of Alavandi village in Koppal taluk to 20 years' imprisonment for abducting and raping a minor girl from Scheduled Tribe community. The verdict said the accused lured the girl from his village by professing love and threatened to die if she did not reciprocate his feelings. Upon learning about this, the victim's family cautioned Rajasab, but he ignored their warnings. On the evening of Jan 31, 2022, the accused called the girl to a spot near the college in Alavandi and persuaded her to accompany him to a distant place to get married. Subsequently, he took her to Talakal village in Yelburga taluk, where he tied a mangalsutra around the girl's neck as a symbol of their marriage at a dargah there. Subsequently, they moved from one place to another. During his journey to Sullia in Mangaluru, he reached out to the girl's father-in-law, issuing a warning that if he did not arrange the marriage of the girl to him, he would end up seeing them dead. Following this, he destroyed the sim card. "The accused, who joined the cement shop where he previously worked in Sullia, lived with the girl in a room behind the shop.
