Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands Awards announces winners
Hundreds of guests gathered at the Luxx Venue in Sandton on the evening of June 21 to celebrate youth excellence at the 4th annual Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands Awards (Yoba).
Since its inception in 2022, Yoba has become a prestigious platform recognising young entrepreneurs who are making significant impact across Africa in various sectors, from creative arts to technology.
The event showcased a diverse array of categories, including Creative & Arts, Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Hair & Beauty, Media, NPO & Charities, Travel & Tourism, Services, Technology, Health & Wellness, Education & Literature, Pan African Brand, Footwear & Accessories, Personalities & Influencers, and Manufacturing.
It celebrated young visionaries who are not only contributing to the economy but also shaping the continent's image on the global stage.
Yoba founder and CEO Pat Mahlangu expressed his passion for youth development and innovation. 'We are here to celebrate youth excellence. This awards platform was born out of my desire to support young people and to make an impact in their lives. It's exciting to see our first international guest from Namibia receiving an award in person, and to have two previous award winners on stage hosting this ceremony for us. We aim to push boundaries and challenge the status quo.'

Among the standout winners was Grace Mondlana, a multiple award-winning content creator and recipient of the Top Personalities and Influencers Award. Those eligible will be notified by SMS or email between July 7 and 20. If satisfied with their assessment, they do not need to take further action. For taxpayers who do not receive an Auto Assessment or who need to update or correct information, SARS will open filing via eFiling, the MobiApp, or branches from July 21. The deadline for non-provisional taxpayers is October 20, while provisional taxpayers have until January 19, 2026, and trusts may file from September 20 to January 19. SARS urges all taxpayers to update their banking and security contact details in advance to avoid delays in receiving refunds, which will be paid within 72 business hours of a completed and accurate return. To make filing easier this year, SARS has enhanced its digital platforms, expanded service hours, and strengthened online support tools, including a WhatsApp line, virtual assistant, and interactive how-to videos. GGT2030 Team JHB cleans up Main Street ahead of G20 Summit
As the City of Johannesburg prepares to welcome global leaders for the G20 Summit in November, the GGT2030 Team JHB has taken a proactive step by launching a clean-up and community safety initiative along Main Street in Rosettenville. Director Chris Litau said that recognising the importance of presenting a cleaner, safer Johannesburg to the world, and especially to its residents, the team joined forces with Pikitup, the City of Johannesburg municipality, local businesses and dedicated community members to restore pride and safety to this vibrant neighbourhood. 'In addition to cleaning the streets, we have committed to supporting community security efforts to help curb crime in the area. Our goal is not only to beautify the streets but to contribute meaningfully to a safer and more dignified environment for all. 'This initiative is more than a once-off event. We see it as a long-term project that can create real impact by offering employment opportunities to unemployed community members. While we face challenges, particularly in securing financial support to sustain and grow the project, we remain hopeful and determined.
