Sniffer dog checks Kneecap's room before Glasgow show
Promoters dropped the group from the July 11 event following safety concerns raised by Police Scotland.
At the time, Police Scotland stated: "Any decision on the line-up at TRNSMT is for the organisers, and there was no prior consultation with Police Scotland before acts were booked.
"Officers highlighted that the potential reaction of such a large audience to this band would require a significant policing operation in order to support the delivery of a safe event."
(Image: Newsquest) The controversy follows an investigation by counter-terror police into rapper Mo Chara, who is accused of terrorism offences related to allegedly holding up a Hezbollah flag on stage.
The band apologised to fans and, in a bid to "try to make up for it", announced a replacement show at the O2 Academy, which sold out in just 80 seconds.
Before the gig, a video posted to the band's Instagram page showed a dog being led around their dressing room. A photo shared on their Facebook page also showed a van marked with a 'search dogs' sticker.
(Image: Kneecap Instagram) Kneecap addressed the incident on social media, thanking both fans and demonstrators outside the venue.
They wrote: "Some scenes outside the venue for tonight's gig in Glasgow.
"Hats off to the dozens of Palestine activists who've been here all day.
"Buzzing to play one of our favourite cities for a show that sold out in seconds.
"Your sniffer dogs are sh*te."
It is understood that the dog was not a police sniffer dog and that no Police Scotland officers were involved in searching the venue.
Ahead of the gig, Police Scotland confirmed that it will implement a 'proportionate and considered policing plan' to ensure public safety.
A visible police presence surrounded the O2 Academy throughout the evening, with officers on patrol in the surrounding area.

Superintendent Paul Douglas said: 'We are aware of a number of events and concerts due to take place in the Greater Glasgow area in the week beginning Monday, July 7, 2025.
'A proportionate and considered policing plan is in place within the city and we are working with a number of stakeholders to ensure the safety of all those attending these events and, where possible, minimise disruption to the people of Glasgow.'

The Glasgow Times reported that the trio arrived at the venue to a crowd of pro-Palestine demonstrators, including members of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign, who gathered with flags outside the Gorbals-based venue.
As they entered, Naoise Ó Cairealláin, also known as Móglaí Bap, was photographed wearing a retro version of Celtic FC's 1996 'bumblebee' shirt.

Mo Chara, who is currently facing terrorism charges, was seen dressed entirely in black and waving to the crowd.
Ó Cairealláin was also spotted carrying a leaflet demanding that charges against Mo Chara be dropped, and controversially calling for Prime Minister Keir Starmer to be arrested.

Sadistic brute trained dogs to rip apart badgers and cats
John Dysart warned he faces jail after reign of terror resulted in domestic pets being ripped apart by dogs. Pet owners in Alloa warned to keep their cats indoors after a spate of killings A sadistic brute who filmed his dogs ripping apart cats and badgers is facing jail after admitting his heinous crimes. John Dysart trained dogs to 'kill anything that moved' and his crimes horrified all pet owners in the town of Alloa - where puppies and cats were kept indoors in case they were targeted. The musclebound bully was due to be tried at Alloa Sheriff Court but changed his plea at the last minute to guilty for several charges, which revealed the perverse bloodlust. Dysart was brought to justice after a video circulated in Alloa of two dogs ripping a domestic cat to pieces, with locals recognising the dogs as belonging to him. A subsequent raid on Dysart's home `by the SSPCA's Special Investigations Unit, who were tipped off, led to his mobile phone being seized. SIU investigators then found a horror showcase of photos and videos of Dysart's animals killing domestic pets and wild animals. One source said: 'John Dysart is notorious in Alloa for being a thug and a bully. Anyone who owns a wee dog or cat will be breathing a sigh of relief because he looks like being taken out of commission for a while. 'There was a point when people were scared to let their pets get out of their sight in case Dysart's dogs got them and they ended up in a horror video. They killed anything that moved. 'What he did would turn anyone's stomach.' When Dysart, 31, was confronted on social media about the cat murders online he told furious locals that his dogs were impossible to control once the scent of an animal they could kill. The source said: 'The fact is that he trained the dogs to be like that and he made videos that prove he was taking pleasure from seeing pet cats and other animals literally being torn apart by dogs.' Dysart had taken a large bag to his court appearance in the knowledge that a jail term is the only likely outcome for him at a sentencing next month. He admitted that, between February 2022 and March 2024, at 23 Whins Road, Alloa, to keeping three lurcher dogs for animal fights. Dysart also admitted setting his dogs upon cats, allowing them to bite, pull and attack them, killing them. The sadist, who was fully equipped with lamps, spades and other badger baiting equipment, also pled guilty to setting the dogs on a badger, killing or injuring the terrified wild animal. Dysart admitted top glorifying his killing sessions by making videos and publishing them online, where he shared them with other 'urban hunter' sadists. He was also convicted of owning equipment designed or adapted for use at an animal fight, namely high powered lamps, mobile telephones, shovels, a fork, snares and camouflage clothing. On Facebook, Dysart was named and shamed on the Clackmannanshire Lost and Found Animals page, where he was condemned as a 'pathetic excuse of a human being'. The site moderator posted: 'There is a video that he has taken of his two dogs mauling an innocent cat to death. 'That poor cat had no chance and it's not the first time this pathetic excuse of a human being has done this. 'So I'm advising anyone in Alloa that has a cat to keep them inside until this animal abuser is put behind bars.' Ahead of sentencing next month, Sheriff Neil Bowie will watch some of the distressing videos that formed the case of the SSPCA's SIU. A spokesperson for the SSPCA said: 'We welcome these guilty pleas in this deeply distressing case of animal cruelty. 'John Dysart has been remanded in custody and the sheriff made clear that a custodial sentence should be expected. 'This case features some of the most horrific cruelty and we are relieved that justice has been served. 'We hope the court applies the full extent of sentencing available, in recognition of the suffering caused.' The spokesperson added: 'Our priority remains the welfare of animals across Scotland and we will continue to do all we can to bring those who hurt them before the courts.' Pep, 54, also revealed the Heaton Park concert in city was the first time he had met Liam Gallagher. 6 Pep Guardiola has labelled Oasis the 'best rock band in the last 50 years' after he watched their homecoming gig Credit: 6 Pep met Liam for the first time at the Heaton Park concert Credit: Reuters 6 Pep was pictured in a classic City shirt at the gig alongside Liam and Noel's kids Credit: Instagram @genegallagher And he likened Liam and brother Noel's enduring success to that of a good football team or a good book. Spaniard Pep, who attended with his daughter Maria, said: 'It was really good. 'The first time I've been in this country so it was nice. 'Being here in Manchester, the first time. 'They came here after many, many years. 'They have been the best rock band in the last 50 years. 'And I'm happy it's back. 'It's the first time I knew Liam. 'Noel I've been with many times (at City games) but Liam I never met before and I met him before the concert and he was so kind.' Pep was pictured in a classic City shirt at the gig alongside Liam's sons, Lennon, 25, and Gene, 24, and Noel's three children, Anais, 25, Donovan, 17, and Sonny, 14. Bitter Oasis feud 'buried once and for all' as Noel Gallagher heaps praise on younger brother Liam for 'smashing it' on reunion tour He said Oasis had sealed their superstar status by bouncing back from the brothers' 15-year rift to sell out their tour. Pep said: 'I don't know how many countries they sold out but that means how good they have been. 'When (people) say this team will be one of the best, I always say, 'Ask me after 25 years'. 'Then if people still talk about that team, it was a good team. 'It's like a book, if after 25 years people read the same book, that is a good book. 'It's like Oasis, no? They come back again and sold out all around the world, it is because they are good. Otherwise, it's not sold out.' During the gig Liam urged fans to show respect for the title-winning boss when he dedicated D'You Know What I Mean? to 'the greatest manager of all time, the one and only Pep Guardiola'. It led to boos from non-City fans, with Liam blasting back: 'Who you f****** booing?' 6 Pep attended the Heaton Park show with his daughter Maria Credit: Instagram @ 6 The pair belted out Don't Look Back In Anger together Credit: Instagram @

Labour MSP is charged over indecent images: Colin Smyth suspended by party after arrest
The Scottish Labour MSP Colin Smyth has been arrested and charged with the possession of indecent images of children. The party has suspended the former modern studies teacher, who served as Scottish Labour's top official before entering Holyrood in 2016, and withdrawn the whip. Mr Smyth said he was in 'shock' and was cooperating with the authorities. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: 'On Tuesday, 5 August, 2025, officers executed a warrant at a property in Dumfries. 'A 52-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with possession of indecent images. He is due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court at a later date.' The married father-of-two is now sitting as an Independent MSP for South Scotland. In a statement, Mr Smyth said: 'These events have come as a shock and this is a deeply stressful time. 'I am obviously cooperating fully with any inquiries and hope the matter can be resolved quickly. 'I am not able to comment further at this stage, and in the meantime I would ask that my family and friends are given privacy.' A Scottish Labour spokesman said: 'The whip has been removed from Colin Smyth MSP, pending an investigation. 'We cannot comment further on this matter while the investigation is ongoing.' It is understood the MSP was 'administratively suspended' after the party became aware of the police investigation. Mr Smyth appeared in a video with Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar which was posted on social media two days after the arrest, but it has since been deleted. In the week after the arrest, Mr Smyth's own account on X continued to post pictures of him meeting people at the Dumfries & Lockerbie Agricultural Show held on August 2. On August 13, he held a meeting with the Scottish Pensioners' Forum, and on August 15 held a 'doorstep surgery' with a Dumfries Labour councillor about roads and bus services. Born in Dumfries, Mr Smyth was first elected for Labour as a Dumfries & Galloway councillor in 2007. He served as Scottish Labour general secretary from 2008 until 2012, and helped run its disastrous 2011 election campaign, when the SNP won an unprecedented majority. He was elected to Holyrood for the first time in 2016 as a list MSP for South Scotland. He backed Mr Sarwar in the 2021 Scottish Labour leadership race and was given a key role as the party's spokesman on the constitution as the SNP ramped up efforts to secure a second referendum and end the Union. Mr Smyth, whose family hails from Northern Ireland, stood unsuccessfully against the Tories in Dumfriesshire in 2021 election, but he returned to Holyrood via the regional list. In 2023, Mr Sarwar made him his champion for older people and he is currently piloting a member's Bill through Holyrood to establish a Commissioner for Older People. Mr Smyth was re-selected in April as Scottish Labour's candidate in Dumfriesshire for the 2026 Holyrood election. But his suspension means he is currently unable to stand for the party. Until this month, Mr Smyth was convener of Holyrood's economy and fair work committee and a substitute member of its public audit and standards committees. He is married with two daughters. A spokesman for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service added: 'A standard prosecution report has been received by the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service from Police Scotland in relation to a 52-year-old man.'
